WKRLEM: The Lion Sleeps Tonight

I have not watched one down of football this season. Colin Kaperdick and Roger the Dodger and the obsession with Black Lives Matters and liberal politics have ended my decades long love affair with football. The game is dead to me. I will not be watching the Super Bowl. Even though I am trying to ignore it the bullshit stills seeps into my consciousness.

Politically correct commercials supporting immigration and trashing America. Social Justice Warrior pussies posing as sports writers trashing Tom Brady because he is friends with Donald Trump. Hey I never liked Tom Brady. But now they are forcing me to be his die hard partisan.

Worst of all is the half time show. I thought nothing would top the Anti-Catholic screed that toxic cunt Niki Minaj did but then that dump Beyonce did her Black Lives Matter/Black Panther thing to the applause of Roger Goodell and the hierarchy of the NFL. I am sure that Lady Gaga will top it with some over the top attack insulting the half of deplorable America that voted for Donald Trump. Anyone who supports football after this continual display of contempt for you is just a misguided fool.

I will be doing something else tonight. Cooking up a batch of spiralized zucchini. Taping a video about it for Instagram. Then catching something on Hulu or Netflicks. Maybe watching something off of Youtude on my Smart TV. The NFL has lost me and millions of former fans like me. I will not watch one down of the game. For the first time ever.

The game  might be on. But the Lion Sleeps Tonight.

I have been watching Longmire on Netflix. The show is not that well written, there are plot holes you could drive a pickup through, some plot threads are just left hanging, but it is set in the west and the scenery is awesome.

Sure beats watching dain bramaged morons running into each other and falling down.

My neighbor rolled into his driveway on his bike as I walked by. We struck up a conversation .Super Bowl. Do you watch? perhaps, but I don't really care. ... You? no, he said. I don't watch any sports, except special needs. Oh that's cool, I said.

Why no football, i asked.

He responds "why would I want to watch a bunch of over-paid millionaire gorillas?"

Good point.

He opined further that he thought national football was a huge waste of resources. Making billionare team owners who are already rich, even richer.

All all tax dollars poured into these mega stadiums and the billionaire owner benefits. surrounding communities suffer. Poor kids suffer. Nothing for the community. It's all crap.

I agreed with him.

I have game on in the background. So far most of the commercials are preachy progressive liberal lecture, brought to you by Coka-Clinton and the other mega wealthy progs who own everything in hollywood.

It's gross.

You are right, Troop. NFL is one more politicized proggy cesspit.

You're a good American,

Besides, the SB is usually the worst game of the year.

It's a football game. Can you lib-progs church of state weirdos leave it alone for just a little while?

you're screwed, dude.

Its like a lot of things. Something starts out, its good so people like it, then it gets blown all out of proportion and finally the SJW's and greedheads turn it into a bizarre circus.

bizarre circus, yes.

I've got it on in the background. I watched some of the first quarter. There was one multiculti ad that was just a hashtag, #weaccept or something like that. Just merging a bunch of faces together type stuff.

Impressive half time show opening with Gaga actually started off with God Bless America and a medley of tunes at the top of the stadium on guide wires, jumping down at the end. After a couple of minutes I moved on though.

That was liberals preaching at you.

I just saw a recap of the final plays - De'Vondre? Martellus? You have got to be shitting me. Those names seem too normal.

I had it on in the background. Must admit, first time in awhile I watched parts of the Superbowl for the game without any care for the commercials. The only one I even remember is the Honda CR-V year book commercial and the Hyundai commercial at the end, which made the home seem a bit dusty and all.

Oh, one for Trooper; when the trophy was handed to Goodell to hand to Kraft, the entire time it was in Goodell's hand, the crowd booed. Once it hit Kraft's hands, a big cheer went up.

Did I ever tell you about the greatest super bowl comeback in history?

Lem Vibe Bandit said...

It was unbelievable.

edutcher said...

So what.

Brady is no Montana or Griese and the profits won't be as big for somebody nobody likes.

PS I wouldn't be surprised if this turns into another Deflategate.

Congrats to Patriot fans! That was a really good game! I watched the whole game and didn't see much overt shenanigans. No Gaga screeds. She kept it professional. If there were players kneeling during the anthem, the cameras didn't show them.

I watched the game, and found it to be a good exciting contest, even though the Packers weren't in it. I change channel when the commercials come on, just like I've been doing for about 20 years.

That is what we tend to do in America..build you up and up and then tear you down. Its kinda sad but we root for the underdogs and root against the perennial winners.

Except for me,I don't do that - that is why I bet on the Patriots.Heh.

ugh. I was hoping the other team would win.

Brady is gross.

My sympathies go out to the Falcons who suffered one of the most bitter defeats in history and behaved with class in their post game interviews. I also extend some sympathy to Trooper York who missed what is now agreed to as the greatest game in Super Bowl history......Tom Brady has cornered most of the world's supply of karma. He seems to be leading a perfect life. I'd prefer to dislike him, but he's just too good at what he does not to respect and admire.

rcocean said...

Greatest game? I don't think so. It was actually a blowout through the 3rd quarter with the Pats dropping passes and throwing interceptions.

Greatest SB comeback of all time? Definitely.

rcocean said...

BTW, I didn't watch halftime show, (I never do) and also skip all the pre-game and post-game babble.

My interest in NFL is at an all time low - other than rooting against Kaepernick I don't watch regular season.

Goodell is a left-wing wanker and should be fired.

Leland said...

Agree, the game was quite boring for 3 quarters. And as much as the comeback was impressive; the overtime segment was a bit of a letdown. I like the NCAA idea of both sides getting a touch of the ball. Otherwise, it is a bit of luck in the coin flip.

I only watched the halftime show as a concerned Houstonian. I didn't want another Superbowl remembered more for what happened at halftime than the game. For that, I thank Lady Gaga for just doing a good but otherwise ordinary performance.

Honestly, I put the Superbowl on as a concerned Houstonian. All week my wife was telling me of the preparations at the hospital in case of a mass casualty event. I even started the game listening to my scanner of the local airspace, which thankfully got boring quickly. Also glad that we avoided the protestors that claimed they would do things like we saw in Berkeley. Of course, in Houston, property owners are allowed by the State to protect their property even if the city police were to sitback and watch (not too likely, but we do have a brand new crap DA).

I thought Gaga was fantastic. She is a very talented lady. I was glad it was only her too.

I figured there was no way Boston could come back from a 28 - 3 deficit. The biggest laugh to me is the number of people claiming they knew all along that Brady & Co. were just too good to be beaten. They knew no such thing but people HAVE TO BE WITH THE WINNER. Psychology 101.

Pacing. The last quarter and OT would have been nowhere near as exciting were it not for the bland first three quarters. That last quarter was a wild series of improbable events. The hand of a provident God was on clear display. Virtue triumphed......I respect the courage, endurance and athleticism of Gaga. She put on a fine show, and deserves the praise she is receiving. I take note of the fact, however, that she did not have to dodge any three hundred pound defensive linemen during her performance. I give the edge to Tom Brady when it comes to courage, endurance and athleticism.

I vacuum packed ten pounds of zucchini. Cooked a new chicken dish and my favorite Greek dish with spinach, rice, olives and feta cheese. Made 14 Instagram videos. Didn't miss football in the least.

By the way the most exciting Super Bowl of all time was the Giants vs the Bills that was won with a last second field goal.

Brady is a great quarterback as long as he doesn't play the Giants. They had his number.

He should enjoy the win and wear his MAGA hat to the White House.

"Don't miss football in the least."

I went to youtube for the highlights of the game. What you see is either Brady or Ryan scrambling in the pocket and rifling the ball to a receiver. Over and over. I mean there are variations but that's it: scramble, rifle shot, caught or uncaught. There were a couple of spectacular catches but the repetition is numbing. Well, numbing at my age. I remember watching whole games in my youth. That must be it, for a young man it's a rite of some sort. But now? What was that - sports hysteria - all about, is what I ask myself.

Perfectly sums up my feelings on the matter. I almost have to wonder if he spotted Atlanta those 25 points, just to keep the game interesting. I was pissed off about Deflategate but ultimately Brady's a major competitor and he took advantage of the fact that the rule was selectively/never enforced. He would have won anyway so it's a nonissue. (It's just the truth, Baltimore.) The real villain in that story was the NFL and Goodell gaming the situation for their fair-haired boy then getting caught and turning on him with a vengeance. Wussies. I'm glad the Pats won so Goodell got booed and had to give them the trophy. Nelson Muntz ha ha to YOU, Rog. I don't care for how the game has become so political. Now Republicans are getting into the act, which is SAD! Atlanta is not the Dem team. They're from fucking Georgia. The Pats are from Massachusetts, Fauxcahontas territory. Brady recycles his TP, lectures about AGW and wacky diet schemes, and cries on tv. Outside his amazing football prowess he's basically a Bernie voter who's friends with Trump.

We no longer have a team in San Francisco. We have a really nice stadium (in Santa Clara) and some guys who sometimes play in it while wearing the same livery.

Apparently, Gaga wised up and just played The Clap.
(Which would be better if her songs were as good as The Clap.)
