"Obama Opens NSA’s Vast Trove of Warrantless Data to Entire Intelligence Community, Just in Time for Trump"

"With only days until Donald Trump takes office, the Obama administration on Thursday announced new rules that will let the NSA share vast amounts of private data gathered without warrant, court orders or congressional authorization with 16 other agencies, including the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Department of Homeland Security."
The new rules allow employees doing intelligence work for those agencies to sift through raw data collected under a broad, Reagan-era executive order that gives the NSA virtually unlimited authority to intercept communications abroad. Previously, NSA analysts would filter out information they deemed irrelevant and mask the names of innocent Americans before passing it along.

This crosses a huge line. The NSA can have our data because they aren't law enforcement. 4th amendment protections are there to keep law enforcement in check from abusing their power. This straight up bulk violates everyone's 4th amendment rights, and as far as I'm concerned, courts should throw out any case this data touches.

Pissy wants us all to remember him.

Perhaps now Sessions will get a go-ahead to prosecute the little bastard.

Krauthamer said Obama is leaving behind a panoply of land mines for Trump.

That might be the intent.

You know, for a presumed guest lecturer on U.S. Constitution this malevolent dope sure is a dick lick. Yes, we know, the asshole is there. Five more days of this horseshit.

Lem said earlier that Trump's inauguration is not a Trump celebration, but for me it is. And I don't give a shit which entertainers don't show up for whatever reason. I never appreciated their contribution anyway. No operatic arias? Fine with me.

For a guy worried about Russian hacking; he sure doesn't have a problem being careless with data on regular citizens. Of course, we knew this when there was a complete snooze fest from the Administration and Congress when OPM was careless.

Don't be surprised if Obama gets strep throat and can't attend.

Streep throat is highly contagious -- especially among celebrities.

This is probably Obama's goal: to make law unenforceable. Let's so how many felons he pardons on the way out this week.

lulz, someone said the 4th amendment. That long suffering number that did something about your rights of illegal searches and seizures that has been utterly dismantled in the name of security or something. I mean, what would a vaunted lecturer of Constitutional Law know or care about something as sinister as some words on a piece of parchment written by old white dudes who owned none of his relatives at one point or another.

I agree chick; I think the intention is to give credibility to appeals, but I'm sure it was also in the hopes that some of his lackeys can soak up that data before they are made to leave. Get prepared for a new level of doxing, and they'll have to bring a new level; since it has become such an obvious tactic that it is no longer effective.

Obama is a giant asshole.

Methadras said...

Allen, of course he is. You can't be a guy like Obama and not hate the USA for what it is and what it stands for. The country as a whole is virulently anti-collectivist/anti-communist. He is the nothing but a collectivist/communist so he's done or tried to do everything in his power to diminish and poison the well of this country. I hope Trump by-in-large is the antidote for Obama's poisonous reign.

Obama commutes Bradley Manning's sentence. NYT claims it was the longest ever sentence given for a leak, but I think that's because others were executed.

Manning today, Bowe Bergdahl on Wednesday or Thursday.
