My cherry trees are blooming today - I hope they enjoy it, because it looks like a cold snap is on its way.

This sucks for me. I'm starting a job next week that will have me partially exposed.

Two days ago here in NE Ohio it was a pleasantly mild after a rainy cold spell. I just don't want the ground to freeze before I get my gardening done.

Don't know where you are, but The Blonde is forever saying she can't believe it's stayed this warm this long.

This is us in our N Calif area. Normally, by now my husband would have winterized all the absentee owners properties by beginning October. This is disconnecting water, blowing all lines free of water, anti freeze in plumbing traps, toilets, water pumps and washing machines as well as exterior maintenance. Heaters in pump houses. October was the drop dead date for winterizing because by then it is usually sub freezing at night and often during the day as well. The ground begins to freeze and we have often permafrost conditions.

This year the trees still have some leaves on them. A few trees even have some residual apples. People have been able to come up and spend Thanksgiving at their houses. It has only been in the low 20's at night for the last week or so.

Yeah. I know. All that doesn't sound very warm. But...believe me it is incredibly warm for us this time of year. I guess it makes up for the cold cold snap we had a few years ago where it was -15 at night and lucky to get to 30 degrees during the day. That went on for months. Everything was really frozen.

SO....some years warm. Some years cold. It doesn't mean anything other than weather happens. Live with it. Shortly it will be the equinox and the days will begin getting longer and then it will be summer and we can bask in the 90 degree days.

Oobla dee oobla dah. Life goes on.

The Weather Channel and news has turned this country into a nation of pussies. When I first moved to Wisconsin in the early 80's they took pride in handling the cold and snow. They whined when it got hot in the summer, but I get that. Now, they whine and panic when it gets cold and snowy. You can't go to a grocery store prior to a motherfucking 4 inch snowfall. Fat cheeseheads loading up on bread and dairy products. I'm assuming it will be the same now that we're in MN. But, we'll see.

Dress warm Lem and invest in some good gloves. My UPS guys complain all the time that their hands are freezing.

It's been nice a long time, but that spate of rain and chill left me worried it might be permanant, then that lovely day appeared. Getting cold now.

Lem,
Did you leave Florida? Where did you move?

Lem is a Jersey Girl now!

He just missed Chris Christie too much.

I only say that because he mentioned it in a prior thread and I want to welcome back to the tri-state area.

I think you are crazy man. I want to move to Florida.

One word, Lem.

Are you listening to me, Lem?

LAYERS.

Hasn't been very cold here in central west WI, but today the drizzle stopped for a while and I put the snowplow on the tractor. Put the chains on the rear wheels, last week. Bring it.
