CBS News: A crowd of protesters skirmished with police Saturday night in a Milwaukee neighborhood where an officer shot and killed a man after a traffic stop and foot chase earlier in the day, setting fire to a police car and torching a gas station. One officer was hurt by a thrown brick.
Police said the 23-year-old man was armed with a handgun. Mayor Tom Barrett said the officer ordered the suspect to drop the weapon, but he refused. The officer then shot the suspect twice, Barrett said, adding that the officer was wearing a body camera.
Assistant Chief Bill Jessup told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that it wasn't immediately clear whether the man had pointed a gun or fired at the officer. They described the man as a suspect, but didn't say what led to the traffic stop.
The races of the man and the officer weren't immediately released....
Police Capt. Mark Stanmeyer said in a news release that the two people in the car got out and ran and that the officers chased them. He said a man who was one of the people fleeing was armed with a handgun and was shot by an officer during the pursuit. He said the man died at the scene.
The man's name wasn't immediately released. Stanmeyer said he had an arrest record, and that the handgun he carried had been stolen in a March burglary in suburban Waukesha. The gun held 23 rounds of ammunition, Barrett said.
The 24-year-old officer who shot the man has been placed on administrative duty. The officer's name wasn't immediately released. He has been with the Milwaukee department six years, three as an officer.

Milwaukee is a shithole.
Milwaukee is Wisconsin's only big city and it is the typical Dem run going bankrupt cesspool.
I don't know if this is another X votes for Trump thing, but it may well be another Y votes fewer for Hillary.
Wisconsin is an important swinger state and many folks there are still anti-Trump. Remember that they went Cruz just to spite Trump. I would look to Sheriff David Clarke for moral guidance here.
I do seem to recall there were allegations of vote fraud and the contention Ryan went out of his way to hand the state to the One True Ted (apparently, he won demographic groups he usually didn't win).
One point that may throw a monkey wench into the mix is Jill Stein. Bernie took the state with better than a half million votes, 130,000 more than the Beast and 30% of the black vote.
Consider the math.
Hey, they're beating up whites for the crime of being white. But all races are the same donchyaknow. All the evolved commenters at Lem agree with that! After all, to say different would make you a RACISSS and we all know there's nothing worse than that. Why hunting down whites and beating them up is piddling in comparison. Carry on, evolved people.
A handgun that holds 23 rounds?

There was a concerted effort by Wisconsin talk radio hosts to undermine Trump: Charlie Sykes and the nasal-twanged Mark Bellows who sometimes fills in for Rush Limbaugh come to mind. They hated Trump and probably still do. They must be in the bag for Hillary now.
"In the bag for Hillary" has a nasty double entendre.

First, we would have to define handgun.
Kind of like that vast category of semi-automatic assault rifle the media talks about.
If this individual was including such weapons as the Mac 10, mp5, or Uzi, all hold 30 round mags.
Hillary with a feedbag
Munching on some oats,
Or possibly a seedbag
Munching on her groats.
Where is it written I have to make sense?!
Chickel - Wisconsin went Cruz because Trump was a nasty mean SOB who lied and used ugly smears against Cruz. You don't have to like Cruz-- and no one cares about Cruz at this point except #Trump IS GOD# devotees - but you might not want to forget why WIS rejected Trump.
Where is it written I have to make sense?!
It made sense! "In the bag for Hillary" means becoming her spiritual fodder.
Chickel - perhaps people wanted to undermine Trump because they knew Trump would lose the general election against Hillary.

Still, it was passive aggression on a massive scale. Few of the Cruz voters even "liked" Cruz.
ND -

Sad.
I have a cousin who lives there. He moved his family from Chicago to Milwaukee about 10-15 years ago because he couldn't stand living in Chicago.

Not having direct contact, I can only go by what I read, but the Ned Silver (saw the opening lines when I Googled, I wouldn't take his word the sun was out) crowed how the One True Ted did great with demographics he didn't otherwise win.
As I say, combine it with the vote fraud allegations and the possibilities are endless. It would be funny if people in his district when Hillary just to be rid of him - Demo vote fraud vs Whig vote fraud; kind of like Barbarossa, tough to figure who to root for and you wish there was a way both sides can lose.

Prediction:They will continue their passive aggression by voting Hillary to "get back at Trump" or stay home. I saw no third party enthusiasm in Wisconsin when I was there.
Chickel - Cruz looked like a candidate who was ready to take on Hillary. Now we have a candidate who can only reminisce about his Primary win. Defeating Cruz was easy, fun and so satisfying. Hillary - eh?
Prediction: Nobody wants Hillary to win and it's up to Trump to win people over.
chickel - I say leave Cruz out of the equation. I know it's difficult.
A good candidate wins people back. All Trump does is flip everyone the bird and stumble over his never ending inability to articulate the simplest ideas.
Chick, the Stein campaign is just gearing up and there's what, better than 2 1/2 months to election. I think Nader surprised a lot of people in '00 and the same could happen now.
OTOH I think the One True Ted's self-destruction lost him the majority of his followers, so the idea that many will go Hillary is pretty doubtful IMHO.
OT, but ya gotta love it - the head of Hezbullah agrees, Pissy started IS, vindicates Trump.
Who said the guy isn't a uniter?
"In the bag for Hillary" is sexist comment ;)
@April and edutcher: Wisconsin's continued support for Hillary isn't about Ted any more -- I just put that out there as an example of passive aggressive electoral behavior. They despise Trump for other reasons now including the ongoing feud with Paul Ryan. Really, if I had to reduce it basics I'd say it that Wisconsin's politics are fueled by women who love Ryan's ways (and his blue eyes). The men there just want to go along get along with their wives and girlfriends. But who knows how they'll really vote when alone in the booth? Maybe Michael Moore is right for once.

Which caliber was it? Are they saying?
Chickel-
Really? I'd say that Trump has work to do and he is not doing it.

A lot of people are with him, of course, but ticket splitting has always been a rare thing. If you Google it, you get a lot of hits it's been way down the last 4 years or so, as opposed to a high in the early 70s. Right now, 20 - 25% may split, and that can work for or against either candidate.
Kinda doubt the Libertarians have anything going this time, but Stein's been getting a lot of press for saying very Berniesque things.
As for who loves Trump and who doesn't, Rinse recently said he's got the support of 90% of the Rs. Take that as you will, but, given that even some of the Bush consiglieri, Darth and Liz Cheney, have endorsed The Donald, NeverTrump may end up being no more than the Bush family and the editorial staffs of NRO, RedState, Weekly Standard, and Glenn Beck.
I did a search for handguns that hold 23 rounds - it was inconclusive, but in theory, if a mag holds 22 rounds, say in a .40 caliber Glock, include one in the chamber and you have a total of 23 rounds. But as I say, I don't know that for a fact.
There are .22 caliber semi-automatics that hold 30 rounds, but that is probably not the side arm of choice for gang bangers.
Consider most submachine guns made since WWII. An Ingram is just about the same size, no?
Since nobody's mentioned it, isn't WI another of those gun-free zone states where everybody is safe because nobody's armed?
Excerpt from a Trump speech in Orland last week.
"We will win and you will see things happen, with, for the evangelicals, you will see things happen that you wouldn’t believe, and really most important for religion, you understand what I’m saying, for religion, all religions, so important, so I hope you can spread the word…this will be an election that will go down in history books and for evangelicals for the Christians for the everybody, for everybody of religion, this will be maybe the most important election that our country’s ever had, so go out and spread the word, and once I get in, I will do my thing that I do very well."

Trump has either lost his mind or he wants to lose.
No amount of blaming the #Never Trumpers can solve that hot mess.

Just the cities, edutcher, like most places. I shot .22's and .45's outside city limits when there.
The pro-Hillary trolls are working overtime to turn a thread about the savages running loose in Milwaukee into an attack on Trump.
Please note that Hillary is the candidate of Black Lives Matters and the rest of the criminals who she wants to release and give voting rights as her minion did in Virgina.
Donald Trump is the candidate of Law and Order and support for the police. Hillary Clinton is the candidate of Black Lives Matters and looting the CVS to protest legit mate police actions.
Hillary will make is safe for every mothers child to steal a car and wave around a gun and even shoot at the police. To stop that is racist in the extreme.
Instead white motorists will be pulled from their cars and beaten senseless. Think of it as the new white privilege.
Troop, any talk of Trump getting the evangelical vote is probably valid. He did much better with them than the One True Ted ever thought and, since said Ted's well-publicized flameout, he's probably running the board.
The beatings, to turn an old phrase, will continue until morale is replaced by fed up.
We've seen such things in Fluffia and Cincy. Eventually, the public makes it sufficiently difficult on the city fathers that they realize white people are the ones who bring in the money and the hoodla are repressed.
Has anyone seen the commercial Arby's has the meats? It's irresistible. I don't have a TV so I was just exposed to it on a recent trip when I watched motel TV to put me to sleep. Anyway, Trump has to come up with something like that. Or heck, just steal it. Trump has the meats! And he wins. Going away.
A good post w/o race baiting or dog whistles and a pretty civil thread.
ricpic, Walter Mondale stole Wendy's "Where's the Beef?" catch phrase. So, I would be cautious.
My home city.
The disturbances occurred in an area of about eight square blocks in a city of 96 square miles. No issues in the other 95.5 square miles.
Google "Sherman and Auer" in google maps. Look at the street view. This is happening in an area of beautiful homes and tree-lined streets. This is where middle-class blacks aspired to live; many still do. Nearby neighborhoods, though, have the awful combination of being some of the poorest, highest crime, lowest educational achievement areas in America. Thirteen to thirty year olds from those neighborhoods are causing all the problems in the Sherman Park area, the stuff we saw on television.
Milwaukee's most recent Republican mayor finished his term in 1908.
The manufacturing and assembly jobs that helped Milwaukee grow a prosperous and stable middle class have all been moved overseas. Blame both political parties. Milwaukee's crime rates have skyrocketed. The Chicago drug gangs have staked out turf here, and the street-level wars have escalated. The guy shot by a MPD officer was ganged up; face full of tattoos. He died at 23; there were 13 arrests on his record between age 18 and his death. His juvenile records are sealed; no doubt there are more arrests.
Liberal mindset permeates the justice system here. The police won't chase a car more than a few blocks. The judges are very lenient - witness the dead guy being on the street with a long arrest record. The DA (who tortured Scott Walker for six years) believes in healing and wrist slapping rather than incarceration. Life in Milwaukee is easier for perps than it is in most big cities.
After I retired I was hired to help Milwaukee Public School System develop and implement a behavioral management program. It was an eye opening experience. There is stunning underachievement in many MPS schools. High schools are gang territory. Parents, many of them, are absent, don't care, encourage violence, and mock kids who actually achieve. It's an awful mess in most schools. There are no simple solutions, especially when parents who suffered fetal drug or alcohol abuse perpetuate that suffering in their children and grandchildren.
The depth of the societal problems are such that there are no easy solutions. In many ways there are no solutions at all, which is why it is so easy for politicians to incite anger in hopes of fomenting race hatred for their own purposes.
