Femenist condems naked Donald Trump statues.

Femenistng: The Daily Show mode of liberal politics has encouraged us all to succumb to mockery when we no longer have the refuge of logical argument; of a political opponent that understands neither reason nor empathy; of a political space so tragically fragmented there can be no dialogue, only derision. There’s a temptation to exert power over the oppressor by telling him he is nothing but a joke to us.
But when we laugh at naked Donald Trump in Union Square, tug at his penis, stare, point, and mock, who are we really laughing at? Are we laughing at Donald Trump because Donald Trump is naked, and fat, standing in front of us? Are we mocking the fact that anyone who has cellulite or a gut or a figure that’s not valued by a capitalist, health obsessed, body-shaming society dares to be nude in a public space? Are we laughing at Donald Trump because we believe that men should be manly, and that manly means to have a big penis, and that anybody who doesn’t fit into that violent, cissexist masculinity is worthy of contempt?
Are we really turning the tables on the oppressor, or are we continuing to stomp on the oppressed? . . .
Nothing is being said by the piece that is difficult for one in the current political climate to say – that Trump is a joke, or that fat people must be shamed, or that male bodies that don’t conform to masculine notions of genitalia deserve scorn. Indeed, the real naked emperors seem to be the installation’s smug audience instead, parading around in seeming robes of progressive politics, which actually, upon closer inspection, are their own naked delusions of open minded, non-oppressive grandeur.

Hatred does that.

That reminds me of something salient Scott Adams said in one of his periscopes I watched.

Ask yourself, why would someone who is a narcissist run for a position were automatically he is derided and hated by half the population?

Some good (obvious) points but mainly they're reall just worried about optics and that that someone will now put up a naked Clinton statue.
This is Naked Trump's second national appearance BTW. Earlier in the year some crazy old lefty bat did a painting of Naked Trump that was fairly widely and triumphantly circulated. The left is all about cheap humiliation tactics and if it doesn't stick the first time just keep throwing your monkey shit at the wall. Duuurrrrrhh.

Not a good morning. I did my morning review of Insty, and followed up on the HotAir article about Dana Perino and the polls. Then, I did my own check of the RCP state polls. Electorally, Trumps not even close. Assuming all the toss-ups go Trump, and really RCP is being kind in calling them toss-ups; Trump is still behind and needs to reverse near double digit Clinton leads in places like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, or Colorado to keep Hillary from 270.

And let's look at the past week. Obama and Hillary both ignored the flooding in Louisiana, the wild fires in California, and have already faced email story after email story. Trump's working his ass off, and saying the right things. But Obama is telling Louisiana not to discriminate, while he plays another round. Hillary is taking a nap. The media continues to ignore the violence of protestors against Trump. So Trump stays behind, only making up ground in popular vote, which is near meaningless.

I still have hope, but its mostly in the belief that between the debates and Hillary's corruption; people will get the message that President Hillary will operate above the law and to the detriment of everyone not listed as a donor to the Clinton Foundation. Unless you are China, Russia, or Saudi Arabia; you better get ready to have higher taxes, fewer jobs, and endless lectures of how disappointing you are. That might get a few people to realize that Trump is awesome compared to the alternative.

But today, we just get naked statues of Trump, which will get posted all over Twitter. Any mention that Ghostbusters was disappointing will be automatic lifetime ban. 1984 came just a generation late.

If you don't trust what the media says, why trust the polls they commission?

If the LA Times poll is to be believed, Trump is up 2.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

Leland - Trump is in bad shape. The state polls are horrendous and Trump might be so behind at this point, there just isn't enough time to figure it out. Like Dana Perino admits, the state polls are what count.

Hillary doesn't even figure in this election. The People have to decide whether Trump is presidential. If they decide he is he wins. If not not. His last three or four speeches have been very presidential. And the optics in Louisiana conveyed strongly that in the vacuum created by Obama Trump actually is our president right now. Can the MSM block all that out? We shall see.

ndspinelli said...

Last election we had 2 trim and fit candidates. This election, 2 fat people. Just an observation. There is one part of presidential election history on which we can hang our hats. We quite often elect the opposite type of person as the previous president. I can think of no more opposites than Obama/Trump.

Again, we're still 2 weeks from Labor Day and a lot of people who want Trump to fail don't want to recognize all the polls we're seeing are pulling little tricks like having a sample of 1/3 Demos and only 1/4 Rs.

Think that might influence the numbers?

Also, remember Trump was doing wondrously well in the state polls right up to the Democrat convention when he suddenly, inexplicably blew every state that was important - no outliers, none at all. Rather odd, that.

ricpic said...

Hillary doesn't even figure in this election.

Maybe before, but not going forward. Until the debates - if they happen at all - she's doing maybe one event every 10 days or so. She's in bad shape and more and more, it's being talked about. Even the media has had to admit the rumors are out there.

And the optics in Louisiana conveyed strongly that in the vacuum created by Obama Trump actually is our president right now. Can the MSM block all that out? We shall see.

If it's on the Internet, they can't block it out.

Consider this little bit of wisdom: the media is already distrusted (like to the tune of 6%), and now we see American journalism is collapsing before our eyes.

Yeah, the hardcore Lefties will go berserk, worse than they did even with Dubya, but most of the skeptics will come to his side.

Off topic: Has there been a movie in recent years that depicts a female character choosing an abortion to spite the theoretical father? Is it only gristle for soap operas now? Only Kay's revelation to Michael Corleone in The Godfather stands out vividly in memory, although there's also a vague memory of another well known film from the '80s having used that trope.

It is not odd at all, given Trump was hurting himself and the media were mostly completely against him. Still, to assume all the polls are cooked against him is delusional. Most people would take that to be evidence of this polling slide of a bad sign for Trump.

Fortunately ed, Donald Trump is not as delusional as some of his supporters. He is doing what he is doing now to turn things around and I welcome whoever is writing these speeches for him, telling him to advertise (in a smart efficient way) and prepping him for the debates. I thought it might be Kellyanne Conway, but it is looking more and more like Roger Ailes. Imagine the giant FU to the world if Ailes manages to save Trump. Whether it is too late or not (I think he can do it) remains to be seen.

Suuure, a poll with a sample of 1/3 Demos and only 1/4 Rs is just fine. Perfectly accurate. And, as I say, no outliers at all. Every last one of those states collapsed at the exact same time.

No, he is not as credulous as some of his skeptics.

You really don't get it, do you? This was always the way he was going to do it (although Ailes being at liberty is a fortuitous plus).

What was Manafort's title? Convention manager. He did his job, now Bannon and Conway come in for the general campaign. I'm also betting the policy speeches were already cooked in for the time when the kids went back to school. No sense wasting your breath - or ad money - when nobody's looking. Hillary's been tossing it away for a month and who can tell you what her stands are?

And hiring an 18 wheeler and filling it with relief supplies is 100% Donald Trump, it's the sort of thing he's done all his adult life (if you took the time to look). Now video of him handing out supplies - that sounds like Ailes.

BTW Interesting, isn't it, how Hillary only does about 1 event about every 10 days until the debates (if they come off)? Yeah, this is all about keeping her from saying something embarrassing.

This whole thing is ruining me as a person. Honestly. The more that I know, the smarter I become about politics then the worse of a person I become.

And I look back wistfully when I didn't know anything. How was that even possible? How is it possible to so flatly stupid as I read online. The comments from Louisiana residents in the middle of flood that's affecting half the state, are the rawest, most base, most idiotic available. So they have an internet connection. They comfortable enough for that, and they use it spit venom and bile and their last meal, oblivious to all of the straight up crimes of Hillary. Criminality of the gravest sort. The sort that makes people question their association, review the reasons of their loyalty, interrogate their own impulses. But they don't.

How can get back to that state of blissful political ignorance? When I was naturally charming, mostly because of the things I did not know.

I cannot.

I studied too much and now I'm impossible.

I avoid contact with old friends. I shun them for being like Jon Steward audience. Not just uninformed, mal-informed.

An intelligent retired businessman, Navy pilot in his youth, characterized Benghazi as a simple mistake, and mistakes happen. He honestly could not process why the issue is important. He nodded agreement when I spoke on the emails saying that was no accident, no oversight, she resolutely refused to obey the law and dragged everyone into her corruption, her conceit. The object being avoidance of FOIA requests, the reason for that is illegal contributions. Worse, all that communication is OUR property, and she treats it as her own. She steals from us and now so many people are involved it drags down the entire country. One woman drags down the whole country. He didn't say anything back, he didn't argue, but nodded, yes, I made sense.

The man is smart as hell. Twenty years my senior. And I'm telling HIM the truth that matters. He dislikes Trump as a person. From what he's gathered on t.v. all along. While I know of Trump only by this campaign. He cannot appreciate any of that. He doesn't see any of that. It's not covered by whatever his sources of information.

I'm honestly worried about what the Democrat party has become. Deeply concerned about their pervasive success by these ridiculous means. I shut off Jon Stewart at the beginning, while they enjoyed the humor and mocking all along. They never have questioned themselves, never questioned their sources of information, never challenged their own opinions nor how they formed. It all makes me ill. It makes my soul ill. It damages my angelic nature.

It's not funny, goddamnit! My goddamn angelic nature is ruined. I'll never be so charming again. That is forfeited. Forfeited to knowledge about politics. And it only gets worse.

Is it Sunday?

Oh shit.

See what I mean?

If the plan was just to have Manafort for the convention and then go with Ailes, Bannon, and Conway--that is possible in a general sense (although I don't think it was planned out the way you are contending, well in advance). If that was the case, if Ailes and Conway were always there ready to jump in, do you seriously think Ailes and Conway would have stepped in and helped nuanced Trump dealing with Kahn and that shit storm of bad press following the DNC?

Trump sensed something was going very badly, Manafort had increasingly troublesome legal issues of his own (and never really clicked with Trump), and Ailes managed to be available at the perfect time.

Exaggeration really is the key to art. There is no impact without it. If it doesn't make you go, "Whaaaaa...." then it's mere decoration and not really art. Art moves people in some fashion. The artist is aiming obviously to move people to laughter. The response to this should not be disgust, rather, returned ridicule.

For awhile I was tempted to grafitti over the tags that gangbangers or whoever mar every flat surface marking their territory or whatever they're doing. That's because he won the nomination that way and he's going to win the general that way.

They encouraged him to be inflexible and thus vulnerable.

She has the Democrat coalition and the media behind her. That makes her pretty formidable to me. Yeah, her health's a very obvious wreck - now, and those email leaks make her vulnerable - now, such as the one referring to Hispanics as taco bowls, but she still has the big city machines. Because you believe the media you say you don't trust if it fits your prejudices. If they tell you something Trump is doing is bad, you buy it without question.

If the media was so credible in that period, why did CNN's ratings plummet?

Trump sensed something was going very badly, Manafort had increasingly troublesome legal issues of his own (and never really clicked with Trump), and Ailes managed to be available at the perfect time

You really don't read, do you? Manafort's title was convention manager. He fulfilled that role. If you want to believe all the scandal-mongering of the media, that's your problem (of course, in the Hillary campaign, everything's a well-oiled machine - even if it does smell like pee).

Your mindless devotion, slavishly defending Trump on every point, makes you look unhinged.

I think Chip's ex-businessman ex-pilot friend is Trump's biggest problem. He's taken a visceral dislike to Trump and that's that. How many such people are out there will likely determine Trump's fate. Think of all the people who say "I vote the candidate not the party." They're essentially admitting that the one who gets their vote is the one they like, never mind that he's (in the case of a Democrat) committed to a borderless country and a "living" constitution. They like him and that's that. Of course since it's near impossible to like Hillary maybe they'll give that awful Trump a chance.

ed, you are a force that hurts Trump.

You do not contribute financially to him. You spend most of your time not trying to win converts to his cause, but insulting those who might be winnable votes. Why do you do that? Shouldn't you be trying to charm people to vote for your guy? Wouldn't that be in your best interest?

You are completely wrong about me, so there is no harm in it (as it pertains to me). I will support Trump because the alternative is helping Hillary. I am not a fan of a Trump presidency as you are, but as Troop points out, what's the alternative? Hillary will absolutely suck. Trump might be an effective president. So given he is the nominee, it is really not a hard decision.

If you read my post (really read it) following up the blow up with Kahn, you would recognize my criticism of Trump was how he politically handled Kahn. No doubt Kahn is a partisan who has a financial interest in promoting Hillary. Trump was not at all to blame for his son's death, any more than Trump is to blame for that five year old boy who is in the hospital in Syria. The blame should be on Hillary. Where Trump fucked up (and he did fuck up) is not carefully crafting an Aikido response to that trap set up by Clinton. With a good response he could have neutralized Kahn or actually turned it against Hillary. He would not be behind in most of the battle ground states.

You can pretend that is not the case but that is the road to defeat. I really do not want to be saying "I told you so" on November 9. I would welcome you doing a victory dance and saying you are right and I and other naysayers were wrong.

So where was Roger Ailes and Kelly Conway to help Trump craft that response? This was foreseeable at the time Kahn gave his address. You know, just how Reagan had the perfect response to Walter Mondale and the media when asked about his age? Either Trump was too dumb at the time to bother to plan for it (assuming he could do it on the fly) or they were not on board.

The point is (if you bothered to read) Trump is getting smart about this and doing what it takes to win a general election.

Rather than picking up on points of agreement with those fully on the Trump Train, you go the other way seemingly trying to alienate them.

As for the election... If you go by the Senatorial polls, in the key battleground states of say, Wisconsin or Pennsylvania; the R senators are still losing. In Pennsylvania, Trump's numbers are steady, but Hillary's number are wild. This is why I so believe it will take the debates for Trump to show who Hillary is to the LIVs. But the first debate is after the start of early voting in some states.

Shouldn't you be trying to charm people to vote for your guy?

Trump is going to need Rubio's turnout and win in Florida to get that state.

If it makes you feel better think I just accept what the media spoon feeds me, you go with that. It is completely untrue. Granted Madison is not the rest of the country, but there are (unfortunately) a lot of places like Madison out there. There are a lot of people who are going for Hillary Clinton over all sort of self deluded reasons, most of which are emotional and not logical. That is a problem in a general election.

This election is like a game where Team Trump is two possessions down half way through the last quarter. And that is not because Team Hillary is playing well, but because of unfortunate turn overs by Team Trump (and biased referees called the Media). Can Trump still win, hell yes he can. But what he can't afford is another turn over or not watching the clock.

If you really want to help Donald Trump, what you might try is making the case for Donald Trump and at the same time focusing why Hillary will be a disaster. Arguing every perceived slight about Trump (just to reinforce your own beliefs) seems an odd way to promote the guy.

There is no gamble about it. I support Trump because the alternative is worse. I admit, the idea of Hillary being CIC is disturbing. And Trump decline post conventions is not a good place to be, although I am seeing signs that give me some hope. You would be a fool not to be worried about it.

I noticed the pixilated butt. Back in the 90's I was giving a presentation @ a large conference of attorneys, insurance, and human resources[personnel back then] people. I put together a montage of surveillance videotape but showing the faces in this setting could have been a problem for several reasons. I had the faces pixilated by a video editor. It was very time consuming. It's a helluva lot easier now. I have seen the complete genesis of videotaping. Same w/ cell phones. Got a bag phone in 1989.

"You would be a fool not to be worried about it." That's the Alfred E Neuman syndrome.

No, the Alfred E Neuman syndrome has to do with whining about how all of Trump's supporters are rubes, just because all the Libertarians had their asses beaten by him.

When your polling includes 33% Democrats and 23% Rs. that's no decline. That's dealing from the bottom.

If you want to take NRO as Gospel, you go right ahead.

Birds of a feather.

Ed, not all the polls are doing 33% dems and 23% pubs. You pick and choose so you can sleep at night.

Trouble is other that the LA tracking poll, which is only slightly in Trump's favor, you don't have a lot to pick and choose from.

But here's to Trump turning this race around.
