"Ted Cruz contemplates the unthinkable"

“They didn’t expect a Republican to say that. I said, ‘Listen, Bernie talks about how Washington is corrupt, both parties are in bed with the lobbyists and special interests. I think he's exactly right.’”

Who gives a flying fig, as it were?

The One True Ted is mobbed up with Jeb! and the CFR and is owned by Goldman Sachs.

His chances of re-election will be interesting to see.

He needs some publicity so he does a fluff piece with Politico.

"When I asked him whether Trump’s selection of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence — a fellow faith-and-values conservative who endorsed Cruz in the primaries — would make any difference, he offered only generic praise. “I think very highly of Pence,” "

FU Ed- Pence was a One TRU Tedder. HEH!

AprilApple said...

"Cruz himself doesn’t exude bitterness or regret — he literally calls himself a “happy warrior” — but he has a deeply jaundiced view of the process that ended with him suspending his campaign after Trump’s big victory in the Indiana primary in May. He sees collusion, if not an outright conspiracy, between the reality TV candidate and the titans of cable news: Their goal, he told me, was to elevate a hard-to-elect Republican nominee while shoving aside more appealing candidates like himself.

Not a conspiracy. Happening right before our eyes. Too bad so many fell for it.

AprilApple said...

“[Trump would] lose state after state after state and the media would say that he can’t be beaten ... and the media liked to paint me as some whacked-out theocrat,” Cruz told me on Friday, sitting at a table in the common area of his Washington, D.C., apartment building as his 5-year-daughter tried to coax him upstairs for supper.

and then Ted went off to boink 8 different wiminz - because it was in the National Enquirer.

AprilApple said...

“I think many of the mainstream media players are liberal Democrats,” Cruz explained. “They intend to vote for Hillary. They believed Donald was the easiest candidate for Hillary to beat. And I think many of them wanted him to win the nomination. I don't think it was innocent decision-making behind this.”

He also thinks Bernie Sanders got the same shaft from a news media that declared him prematurely dead. “I think Hillary’s nomination and I think Donald Trump’s nomination, I think the media played decisive roles in both of them,”

Crazy talk. the pro-democrat hack press are honorable. They'd never do that!

AprilApple said...

" Trump needs “Lyin’ Ted” a whole lot more than Cruz needs him as this point, which is why he ceded a central prime-time slot to someone who is so lukewarm to him. There weren’t enough Cruz supporters to put him over the top, but his numbers are simply too good for Trump to ignore. The first-term senator won 8 million votes, 600 delegates and 12 states. He raised nearly $92 million — a record for a GOP primary candidate, much of it from small online donors. He ran by far the best ground operation of any GOP campaign this year, with more than 325,000 volunteers flocking to Cruz’s call for a grass-roots Republican renewal.

What does trump have ? - No ground game, little money, no ads, and the hack press who will now drop him and a bunch of dupes for supporters. yay.

AprilApple said...

Thanks, Lem.

AprilApple said...

"True, Sanders stands for everything he hates (“Half of young people think socialism is a good idea!” Cruz said incredulously), but he sees his fellow silver medalist as a something of a kindred spirit: both screwed by the Trump-Clinton-media axis, both in touch with the ever-rising tide of anger at Washington, especially among younger voters."

They crashed his wedding. Pull your head out and use your brain for a change.

The Enquirer only said 5. You can ask Heidi about the others.

But you may want to ask where the One True Ted was when his BFF sold out the NeverTrumpers.

Sounds like the sort of thing the One True Ted would be a part of.

What does trump have ? - No ground game, little money, no ads, and the hack press who will now drop him and a bunch of dupes for supporters. yay.

Gee, they kept saying he had no ground game until the One True Ted started losing.

And ads are for old people. In case you haven't noticed, Hillary's outspent the Donald 15 - 1 and they're dead even, if, in fact, Trump isn't actually ahead.

If this were 1940, she'd be telling Gamelin the Boche can't get through the Ardennes and the Maginot line will stop them cold.

You send away with a Cheerios box top for that?

PS Robert Taft, Jr was one of the most thoughtful politicians of his time. He very rightfully questioned the validity of the Nuremberg trials, as they set a dangerous precedent in international law for the winners executing the losers.

@edutcher. Yes, yes, and yes. My grandfather was keen Taft supporter, according to my father (I don't remember the former -- he died when I was 2). But Taft was wrong for 1952 and Ike was right. She peddles nostalgia (good point, chick), witness how she said she'd put Willie in charge of fixing the economy, he who gave us the subprime mortgage mess. The peace and prosperity they claimed was Reagan's and they coasted on it.

As more people are faced with the reality of the mess the 60s Lefties have created, it's going to be harder to sell the illusion. To get what he wanted, Black Narcissus had to destroy the prosperity of america, or at least, not rebuild it after the housing bust.

Hillary would have to be the greatest saleswoman in history to make people believe she can bring back the Good Old Days. But all she wants is the anarchy and division of the 60s.

Ed- the sekrit Hillary supporter uses old lame excuses.

Here- These are not that old:

Trump Quotes:

"I like the Obamacare mandate."

"Every single other Republican candidate is going to cut the hell out of your Social Security."

"The economy does better under the Democrats." "I like universal healthcare." "Hillary Clinton is a terrific woman. She's a really good person."

"You have to give them a path. You have 20 million, 30 million, nobody knows what it is. It used to be 11 million. Now, today I hear it’s 11, but I don’t think it’s 11. I actually heard you probably have 30 million. You have to give them a path, and you have to make it possible for them to succeed. You have to do that."

"And just like that, for the second time in four days, the Rules chairman took the stage, called for a voice vote on the new rules package, and promptly declared the rules passed despite the petition for a roll call vote being in good order. The system is absolutely rigged — in Trump’s favor. Get it through your head, they couldn't even win by cheating.

Conventions go by voice votes all the time. If you had ever watched one. When Trump goes over the top Wednesday night, they'll ask for a voice vote to make it unanimous. Happens every convention.

I have zero sympathy for the Never Trump whiners at the convention who want to change the rules AFTER the fact.

They knew what the rules were for each State when the volunteered or were elected to be delegates. Those were known and accepted. Now that they didn't get their way, they want to be all pissy, stomp their feet and snivel because....no fair!!!! waaaaah....I don't like those rules.

They thought the rules were good when they were sure that their candidate was going to be the winner. Now that their guy Cruz or Kasich or whoever didn't win...they want to change the rules that the other people were supposed to abide by. Rules for some but not for them.

Tuff shit. Dems da rules and if you don't like it, then throw a hissy fit, and toss your precious delegate badge on the floor and flounce off of the convention floor. What a bunch of whiny babies.

edutcher said...

April doesn't like dissent, I take it.

The thing to keep in mind here is that this was the last stand of the Busies, and that the Libertarians thought they had a real shot at swinging the bulk of Conservatives into their camp.

The campaign mangers knew it was a forlorn hope, even with the delegate poaching, but strung a lot of people along. This reminds me somewhat of Gary Hart's campaign and his last gasp speech to the convention in '84. you could just see the air go out of his people that they suddenly saw he really had nothing to say.

What's going to be interesting, going forward, is how the next few months play out. Manafort did a good job tarring Hillary with the responsibility for Benghazi and her lousy foreign policy last night. Add to that her taking up the White Privilege banner (thank you, Bernie). Any terrorist attack - here or overseas, any cop killed, any riot, any protest where BlackLives or another such group beats up somebody, she owns. She's been put in the same place as Hubert Humphrey in '68.

And people liked him.

Trump will appeal to a lot of people who would never give Ted Cruz a look. As a social conservative I recognize that Trumps pliant views on abortion and homosexuality will be much more acceptable to a greater audience than Teds. So when Trump hammers Law and Order and getting jobs back by putting America First it will resonate in a lot of swing states. He is going to mix up the map. Break up the log jam. Something the conventional candidates would never do. Wait and see.

You want to reward this behavior April. Trump would welcome him. He is welcoming Little Marco and the One True Ted. Even though they are only half hearted. If Kasich wants to act like a schoolgirl then Trump shouldn't kiss his ass. I know that is hard for you to understand but Trump doesn't owe him anything. Kasich owes the party and the goal of defeating Hillary something. Unless he doesn't want to defeat her and wants the duopoly in charge.
