Maybe we just need to evolve further. Matt Damon

That is a lovely sentiment. I'm for it. Gun owners will say, good, Matt, do, evolve, by way of example. We'll cover your flank. For this world evolves  unevenly. Way unevenly.

He's such a fascist.

He is fiercely sanctimonious, and I'm repulsed by that but my problem is I agree. It's just such a girlish fantasy, evolving beyond ugly smelly oily dangerous guns,  but with him linked with facile fascism. So forget about Matt Damon, over opinionated actor, and think about something else.

His remark reminded me of another quip delivered seriously on another satire site, the subject was an individual who was too short to perform some ordinary function and the commenter said, "Well, maybe she had just grow legs" an impossibility the group found funny for its stupidity and that became a catchphrase for the place to answer people like Matt Damon the actor and outspoken political fascist.

Quotes like "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" don't derive their impact on a vacuum. The quote is well known because it rings true.

Words are all the powerless have, once they are disarmed.

When words are not backed up by the threat of force, they are for all intends and purposes meaningless.

To cast that aside and to say the threat of force is no longer necessary, is to live in some form of delusion. It's not a coincidence that Matt engages in make believe for a living.

Instead of seeing the tool as some sort of threat to civilization, I propose that it is because of the gun's proficiency as a lethal weapon that we have sought more humane ways to punish evil. Put it another way, it is the threat of war that ultimately ensures the lease.

the peace. as opposed to piece. carrying a piece.

The gun allows for more time to preoccupy the mind with more noble goals and what not. I propose the gun is helping, rather than hindering, "evolution".

These northeastern people just don't understand. Even many or even most Republicans in the northeast have this attitude. This Damon midget is the worst, he's a Boston/LA/Maybe Madison liberal.

Without which civilization is not possible.

Of course, their private security details will still have guns. And here's some hypocrisy, I just watched the epic and SUPERB 5 part documentary on OJ. I watched on Apple TV and there were just limited interruptions w/ only one commercial replaying, the new Jason Bourne movie w/ the midget shooting it up and blowing it up.

Guns!

btw - In solidarity with anti-gun hysteria, The Borne Identity movies must be edited and the guns removed.

April, I think we know who will sell out the NRA in a NY minute.

It's easy to dog whistle the Trump is God group.

Now I'll be called a Hillary voter. Watch. It doesn't matter all the vile shit I say about her. It doesn't matter that I say I'm voting for Trump. It doesn't matter that I am as honest a person on the interweb using my real name. Say a fucking unfortunate truth about their deity and you must be the enemy.

We do know. But we celebrate flip-flopping now. It's all the rage. that, and talking like a 4th grader.

But, you could write a book on this.

The bestest thing about Matt Damon is how often he portrays a genius in the movies. Not just the hero, but the super-genius, scary-smart hero who is so brilliant that his massive mind-power leaves the dumb villains in a fog of puzzlement.

He is a great actor.

ndspinelli said...

Jim, That's because he's racist. Black people should be the genius heroes, but Hollywood always makes the white people the smart ones.

ndspinelli said...

He's a good actor, not a great actor, IMHO. I can separate my disgust and be objective. Although I do have a problem w/ weasel, passive-aggressive, trolls. They are scum to me and I have a hard time getting past that.

He made more sense in "Team America".

I'm one of the few people that liked, The Good Shepherd. Damon of course played an Ivy League scary smart character. But, he had to actually act, cover his personality to become a spy bureaucrat. Good acting.

All you need to bring out the "maybe I'll be forced to vote Demo again" crowd is the idea the good guys might win.

ed, Speaking the truth is always the right thing to do. I'm truthful even if my wife asks me, "Does this dress make me look fat?" I'll say again, we aren't going to sway the election here. This is where we speak what we think. We're just talkin'!

ndspinelli said...

ed, I think it would do you good to once as day say something you don't like about Trump. Hell, we know he's your guy. We know you are 100% committed. But, you must have some things you don't like. Get it out. If you don't say it here say it to the Blonde or hell, just sway it out loud alone in a room. You gotta know he's very weak on guns. Come on, dude.

edutcher said...

I've said my piece about The Donald and how long and what it took for me to see him as the guy who can win.

My point is, you made your views about him known, fine.

From here on out, it's one or the other. The Hildabeast has spent a million in trolls and bribes to bloggers and websites (almost as much as the NeverTrumpers). They're spending almost as much to turn the Republican convention into Ferg or Baltimore. We know they will crank up the vote fraud machine. They will try to intimidate any dissenting voice.

They really don't need any help at this point. Nobody here thinks Trump is God, except maybe you and April. So help instead of give the enemy more ammo.

Your choice.

"Give the enemy more ammo" is Captain Queeg like my friend. We're just talkin' here. That's all.

I've noticed people who like to play the gadfly think they're terribly clever, but it eventually gets old.

Think about it.

Never understood the Damon or Affleck fans and also never understood why Good Will was so popular, and I'm a yoooge Robin Williams fan. Robin Williams had real talent albeit not always in the best of vehicles. Goddam Patch Adams and the Requisite Tears of A Clown Movie. (And, yes, fully aware Willams ripped off other comedians but he did it better so for me it's a wash). Affleck's best effort was in Dazed and Confused. Unrecognizable. Maybe he was playing himself there and the rest of it is all a put up job. Damon seems to want to carve out the Next Tom Hanks spot in the line up; Regular American Guy+ Just Tryin' to Make It Work In Today's Twisted World, Now With Strange New Respect from Foreign Chicks.

It's already working in California. We are devolving to the point of full metal idiocy in this state. Fuck it, we are already there.

It's magical thinking which is exactly why the 1A and 2A exist in the order that they do, but there was big fight within the founders arguments on why the 2A should have been the 1A. As you said, words without power behind them are pointless and meaningless. Even Christ understood this. He wasn't armed with a gun, but with the power of God. His words mattered because they were being spoken by the undeniable truth brought forth by the power of a divine being. Otherwise, without that, he would have just been another guy saying profound things without anything to back them up.

Same goes for us. You disarm us, we become powerless and that's exactly what the left wants and they are in full force trying to get it. They don't even hide it anymore.

Of course not, it's an American success story.

You couldn't be expected to understand.
