KLEM FM

Iggy Pop's first commercial album with The Stooges. Iggy was inspired by The Doors and was even signed by the same label, Elektra Records. The cover art was an homage to The Doors' first album:

I have every Stooges and Doors album. Also Iggy just released a new album (why do we even call it that anymore since it's all digital) with Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme/Dean Fertita and Arctic Monkey's Matt Helder's called Post Pop Depression. Great music. His seasoned voice is really another instrument.

I did my thing for my community today to help keep it beautiful. And the Lord looked upon me and said, "That is good, now go in grace and MYOB where B stands for bizwax."

And I'm all, "¿"

In my neighborhood I passed a rough looking tall thin fellow in the sun too long today on a bike who greeted me kindly as he threw a large tin into a flowerbed behind a metal railing.

I've spoken with the gardener who tends that side garden. I complemented his work. I interrogated his methods. We're buds.

I said, "That flowerbed is not a trash bin."

He's seated on his bike and misunderstood what I said. He offered me a cigarette. Twice. That's a bit generous, those things are currency of a type for his type. He was being friendly and generous besides. I had to say it a few times. "I saw you toss the can into the flowerbed."

Now he's really misunderstanding. He thinks I'm remarking on his drinking in public and not thoughtlessly littering a tended garden.

I passed him and heard a clunk in the middle of the street. From behind me he yelled at me "That can?"

Now yelling back, "Yes, THAT can. But you still have a problem with bins. The street is not a bin." He rode his bike over the tin and crushed it, flattening it into the street. I continued into the bodega. Came out. Tin was removed. He had third thoughts about littering. Apparently.

And I thought, see, even his type has remnant pangs of decency. All it takes is some public chiding.
