What Conservative Card is in your Wallet?

George Will has decided to prove that he is a conservative by voting for Hillary Clinton. From Breitbart:

“On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” Washington Post columnist George Will explained why he left the Republican Party over presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Will said, “I left it for the same reason I joined it in 1964 when I voted for Barry Goldwater, because I was a conservative. I leave for the same reason, I’m a conservative. To give you a time line, shortly after Trump became the presumptive nominee he had a summit meeting with Paul Ryan where they stressed their vast shared ground, which is more important than their differences. I thought that was puzzling because Paul Ryan still didn’t endorse him. After Trump went after the Mexican judge, then Paul Ryan endorsed him. I decided that, in fact, this is not my party anymore. I changed my registration to unaffiliated 23 days ago. I hardly made an announcement. I mentioned this in a meeting with the Federalist Society. The long and the short of it is, as Ronald Reagan said when he changed his registration, I did not leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me.””
So he is the kind of conservative who abandons his party when his guy isn’t selected. When the voters of his party choose someone other than one approved by the establishment like McCain or Romney. The kind of conservative like Paul Ryan who is favor of open unrestricted borders. Of importing more Islamic terrorists and their enablers. Who surrenders to Obama’s agenda because there is nothing they can do. So he quits.

I have questioned by many as to how I can be an enthusiastic support of Trump if I am a “True Conservative.” I had to mediate on that and decide what kind of conservative I can be. I am certainly a conservative who doesn't believe in political correctness like those in the Republican Party who screamed like bitches when Trump told the truth about Mexicans. I am a traditionalist. I want things to be the way they used to be. An honest guy can get an honest job and make a living to support his family. There is no shame on what you do. You can work on the docks like my uncle. Or be a clerk in a bank like my Dad. Women stayed home and took care of the kids. Everybody knew their place. Everybody knew everybody in their neighborhood. You stayed in your neighborhood. You didn't move to Harlem and Leroy Jones or Bernardo and Anita didn't move into your neighborhood. The cops gave you a knuckle sandwich if you got out of line without it becoming a federal case. Homeless people were bums and they kept them in the Bowery.
Simple pleasures. Sitting on the stoop having a beer and meatball sandwich. Reading what I want without worrying that the government can track me through the internet. Being able to say what I want. The jokes that I want. The attitudes I want to have without having to look over my shoulder to see if someone wants to ruin me because I won’t bake a cake or take a photo. When boys were only allowed in the boy’s room and psychos were put in the hospital instead of the ladies room.
I remember when you wanted to only buy something made in America. When you bought something that was “Made in Japan” people mocked you and busted your balls. When being an American meant something. When immigrants wanted to learn English and become real Americans.  When the only flag people wanted to wave was the American flag.
That is what I would like to conserve. Not low tax rates for the wealthy. Not wars in every Middle Eastern country to topple Dictators to make some asshole neo con journalist happy. Not trade deals that kill our jobs.
I guess that makes me a xenophobic, nationalist, populist and not a true conservative that should be in the party that contains George Will and Paul Ryan and Lindsey Graham and Susan Martinez and Niki Haley and Ted Cruz and Little Marco and all the rest of the gang.

But that’s the conservative card I have in my wallet. No other.

George Will, I too left the GOPe a long time ago because I was a conservative. I know what a conservative is. I know what a conservative does. You sir are no conservative. You are a small minded child who doesn't like the new game being played which isn't the same as the old game you used to play. So long.

This is a narrative I would like to argue against because McCain and Romney and Dole prove its idiocy, but is that what people really question?

"After Trump went after the Mexican judge..."

Ha, Will assumed Trump's POTUS sale and is too dense to know it.

Ha.

Poor little Federal judge, they don't have any power or ego or aspirations to greatness.

Just little, probably swarthy cogs in some great machine to Will. I wonder why he is called racist? Here he is, attacking the predatory Trump attacks on the helpless little too-dumb-to-know-he's-a-cog-cog Federal judge after all.

To Trump though, this Federal judge has a lot of fate in his control, and men like Trump can't leave that alone contained within itself to others in terms of hoping and wishing and writing consoling songs about the decline's management.

Enterprising reporters would ask "How can you allow the possibility your sister could be your SCOTUS pick while questioning this judge's strike-and-ball calling without nepotistic nudging being, or at least widely perceived as being, a shadow factor present in both cases?"

"McCain and Romney and Dole prove its idiocy" works darn near close to just as well if I woulda used "it's" instead of its.

Will is less a Conservative than a prissy old aunt scandalized by some people's behavior.

He never really disapproved of what the Demos did, but he would occasionally "tsk tsk" it.

Contrast with his disapproval of Trump. For fighting back. In the 40 years or so of hearing Will natter on, I can't recall him ever disapproving of all those Whigs who "reached across the aisle to their friends in the democrat Party".

I have enjoyed George Will here and there, but never felt like he said bold, courageous things. If this is finally his idea of bold and courageous, he has swung and missed.

Bye, George.

George and Trump hate each other. It goes way back. Sadly, a lot of people hate Trump. Why his negatives are higher than the most hated women we know.

Does he actually say he is going to vote for Hillary?

And Hillary's are even higher.

Admit you're here just to demoralize the Trump supporters.

BTW The most hated usually wins.

Many years ago, on a local political radio show, one of there guests was an old time Republican. Best described as a coupon clipper and a living embodiment of the Monopoly man. He was just appalled at the types of people that Reagan dragged into the GOP.

He had a point. The white working class was shown the door, demonstrated at the 72 democrat convention when Mayor's Daley's delegation was unseated and replaced by the Jesse Jackson's unelected group. Likewise, the religious ,were thrown out by the dems. This was when the war on whites started in the dem party. Both groups gravitated to the GOP, based on vague promises and rosy assumptions.

For the last couple of elections, these groups were told to keep quiet and not scare the electorate. This year they've been told to get out, but not before they've secured their candidate. Now the coupon clippers and monopoly men are getting out.

People like Will are hoping for a huge loss and humiliating defeat and the party will fall back into their laps. That may happen, but who do they think is going to vote for it?
