David French preaches a secular version of the standard Churchian "Only Real Man in the Room" sermon:
In Trump, feminists have a true cultural bogeyman, and he is actually dangerous. Trump is commandeering the debate over masculinity and providing the cultural Left with a lifetime’s worth of dissertations, think pieces, and television tropes on the evils of “manhood.” And Trump will have helped define their terms.
He has brought out of the woodwork a bloc of people who apparently believe that the answer to political correctness isn’t truth and virtue but rather becoming what the other side most hates. If the other side polices language, then the answer is vulgarity. If the other side embraces diversity, then the answer is flirtation with white nationalism and white-identity politics. If the other side tries to cast men as dangerous, sex-obsessed bullies, well then hoist the middle finger, glory in Trump’s apparent sexual and financial success, and relish the whining of feminists and “betas” everywhere.
Trump’s masculinity is a cheap counterfeit of the masculinity that’s truly threatening to the cultural Left: man not as predator but as protector, the “sheepdog” of American Sniper fame. This is the brave man, the selfless man who channels his aggression and sense of adventure into building a nation, an economy, and — yes — a family. This is the man who kicks down doors in Fallujah or gathers a makeshift militia to rush hijackers in the skies above Pennsylvania. Or, to choose a more mundane — though no less important — example: This is the man who packs up the household to take a chance on a new job, models strength for his family when life turns hard, teaches his son to stand against bullies on the playground, and lives at all times with dignity and honor.
The masculinity that threatens the Left is the masculinity that embraces the manly virtues while minimizing the traditional manly vices.
It's more than a little amusing to read this in light of the knowledge that David French is a virtue-signaling cuckservative with the standard African accessory. He has read Heartiste, but he has not understood the first thing about Game; this is little more than an evangelical-flavored BETA whining about an ALPHA and attempting to redefine what winning "really" is.
There is no such thing as "counterfeit" masculinity, there are only the different socio-sexual expressions of it. Trump's masculinity is Alpha and confrontational. He is a leader. He fights. French, on the other hand is a Delta, and so, unsurprisingly, he values service and selflessness and being a team player. And he is absolutely and utterly wrong about what threatens the Left; the Left will use Deltas, chew them up, and spit them out, as Deltas are naturally inclined to obey anyone with a mantle of authority, even a stolen or false one, who gives them orders.
Just as conservatism has conserved nothing, French's Delta protectionism has protected nothing; even his own family has been invaded by outsiders. He is a chihuahua that believes it is a sheepdog and thinks the real sheepdog is a wolf.
What genuinely threatens the Left are male leaders who are confrontational, who will never submit to them, and who have the ability to inspire other men to stand up to them as well. In other words, they fear Alphas who publicly stand against them. That is why the Left is having conniptions over Donald Trump and could not care less about anything David French thinks, says, or does.
Deltas always want to redefine leadership, winning, and Alpha as reliability. French's little sermon reminds me of the Delta who wondered if there was such a thing as a "Stealth Alpha", the IT guy to whom everyone turns when their computer doesn't work. But the fact that people need you, rely upon you, and use you does not mean that they follow you, obey you, or even respect you... nor does it cause women to find you attractive.

Why is anyone giving Kristol or David French any face time at all. They are both useless deballed cucks.
It is people with an agenda. Megyn Kelly gave them 15 minutes last night. The mainstream media sleazes will ride these cucks as long as they can.
So French gets a bronze star in Iraq and Trump is a fighter and French is a "cuck"? I am not a fan of this Kristol third party thing, but your "cuck" post is BS
I'm not busting French's balls because of his service, but fuck him for getting sucked into Kristol's bullshit king-making vortex.
Telling French to fuck off is fine. I think he is a good guy, but running as a spoiler is a mistake. I do not see the benefit of this proposed third party run to help Hillary. But any one can run.
The funny part is, while these guys were forever reaching across the aisle to their friends in the Democrat Party and going along to get along so they'd get invited to the cool parties, they'd excuse it all by telling people, "We're fighting behind enemy lines here. We've got to take what we can when we can".
That, of course, cut more ways than one.

Meth, if he's wrong, he's wrong, service or no. Remember how John Murtha hid behind the fact he'd been a Marine, especially when he was trying to crucify those guys in Iraq?
I don't know much about military decorations Evi and I would certainly defer to someone like AllenS to speak to that point. But as it has been explained to me the Bronze Star is often awarded to staff officers for "meritorious service." David French was a lawyer with JAG. A Bronze Star with a V for Valor is for combat operations.
Perhaps AllenS can enlighten us and give his opinion. What he has to say will really shape my final opinion on the matter. I don't think that he is immune to criticism and attack.
I certainly do not denigrate his service. I did not serve so I have not right to criticize Mr. French's service. He did volunteer to serve his country as a lawyer. Now he is volunteering to serve his country as a tool of the establishment to put down the working class who he thinks should die and their communities be destroyed. He totally signed on to Kevin Williamson's attack on the white working class and agreed that we should die.
David French, Jonah Goldberg, Eric Erickson and Bill Kristol are a big part of the problem. They need to be smashed like a bug. They are no different than Rachael Maddow, Chris Matthews, Thomas Friedman or David Brooks. They are the other side of the coin of the duopoly's brain trust who are perfectly content to have Hillary become President. Their every effort is geared toward facilitating that eventuality. There is a name for these types. Quisling.
You see I don't think David French is a good guy. Anybody who signs on to Kevin Williamsons bullshit is not a good guy in my book.
Williamson said:
"If you spend time in hardscrabble, white upstate New York, or eastern Kentucky, or my own native West Texas, and you take an honest look at the welfare dependency, the drug and alcohol addiction, the family anarchy—which is to say, the whelping of human children with all the respect and wisdom of a stray dog—you will come to an awful realization. ... The truth about these dysfunctional, downscale communities is that they deserve to die."
David French said:
"If getting a job means renting a U-Haul, rent the U-Haul. You have nothing to lose but your government check."
In other words abandon your farm or your business or your community and pack up you pickup like you were fucking Tom Joad or something. Government checks are for the privileged groups or illegal immigrants only. White folks should pack up their shit and hit the road. Fuck these guys. Fuck them to hell.
Troop, I am all for you criticizing him on why his campaign is a bad idea. I do not think he is a coward, I like French--but fair enough on disagreeing with him. I agree this third party run seems a bad idea (at least to me).
I don't say he is a coward. Wait I take that back. He is a coward in the sense that he and Erickson and Goldberg and Kristol are cowards because they will not stand up for the white working class. Emphasis on white. They despise them and want them to die. They have stated this explicitly over and over again. That lets them hang out with sleazy liberal scumbag media types. That is what is most important to them.
Kristol is an especially odious example. He never saw a war he didn't want to start. He wants to send American boys to die all over the world for his neocon views. He is the epitome of the cuckservative Bush collective that includes shit like Karl Rove and Dana Perino and Megyn Kelly.
Quislings one and all.
I saw Bloody Megyn hosting Erickson and Goldberg last night. She gave them fifth-teen minutes of prime airtime to pump up this nonsensical candidacy. Did she bring on Gary Johnson? Jill Stien? Eugene V. Debs? Pee Wee Herman? All of them have as much chance getting elected as this dude.
OK, off Military Times, he was awarded a Bronze Star, Army Achievement Medal, and Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal.
The last 2 are administrative decorations and a Bronze Star can be for combat (V for Valor device) or for exemplary conduct.
As he served as a Squadron Judge Advocate, exemplary conduct (I can't find an account that says for combat) seems to be reasonable (if anyone knows differently, I will happily stand corrected).
And I have to agree with Troop on the idea French is not a friend of the average guy on the street. The Williamson piece is no different than Pissy's ongoing whine about bitter clingers and French signed on to it.
We can argue about the "Quisling" label, but I don't know anyone's calling him a coward. Troop's questioning his loyalties.
Exactly right ed. Suicide bombers are not cowards. But they are our enemy.
These supernerd conservative douches are the enemy of the white working class. Just as much as the MSNBC crowd or the Black Lives Matters types. They will be happy to work with them but spit on the working joes. Fuck em.
When I say working joes I just don't mean factory workers. I mean people in small businesses or as clerks or corporate white collar drones. Any powerless working stiff going paycheck to paycheck before he is replaced by a call center in India.
What if Trump proposed a law that at least 80% of all call centers had to use Americans who speak English and live in the United States? Would you sign on to that? These jerk-offs won't.
French deserves great credit for signing up and spending a year in Iraq as a military lawyer. Thank you, Mr. French.
However, every biography I've of him seen prominently mentions the Bronze Star, leaving the impression with the non-military reader (such as me) that he performed an act of conspicuous valor during his service.
As Ed points out the Bronze Star has become something of a participation trophy for officers and upper level NCO's who serve in a war zone. That's fine, if that is it's purpose, there were no safe spaces in Iraq during OIF. But persistently citing the medal and allowing the false impression about the justification for the medal to stand belittles the sacrifice of those who earned it through actions above and beyond and marks French as something of a poser to me.
"Operation Iraqi Freedom, from 2003 to 2010, saw 99,886 Bronze Star Medals awarded in OIF for Achievement/Service. In addition to those, there were only 2,459 awarded for valor."
Perhaps his award was for a particular act of valor and not the "counterfeit masculinity" it seems to be. If so, I owe Mr French an apology.
It's been a long time since I was in, but back then, and I doubt if things have changed, when you rotated back from a tour of duty, everyone from Sgt (E5), and up, including all officers received the Bronze Star. Below E4 you received the Army Accomodation Medal.
There are two different awards -- Bronze Star for serving, and the Bronze Star with V device -- and that means awarded for valor in a combat situation.
Make that below E5, or E4 and below, and you get the Accommodation Medal.
Thanks Allen. That is how it was explained to me. I don't think we should in any way denigrate Mr. French's service to his country. He deserves to be commended to the highest degree.
However I think it is disingenuous the nth degree to wave the Bronze Star in our faces to tell us to shut up. I don't think Evi really means to do that based on his subsequent posting. I think we can dispute and despise Mr. French on his own words and actions.
He is hanging around with a bad crowd.

This may or may not clarify things, but, as an example of a V for Valor Bronze Star, all the Rangers who jumped on Point Salines on Grenada were awarded one because it was an extremely low level jump under direct fire.
The reason I brought that up, Ed, is because I had read a lot of good David French articles before the Trump fever got to him and was under the impression that he was a younger guy who had won a medal for bravery in Iraq. I got that impression from French himself and his bio's and it irked me quite a bit when I recently learned the details.
I posted my criticism reluctantly because there's nothing wrong with winning a medal for achievement/service and I don't want to dishonor those who did, but it doesn't seem to me that that should be the lead item in one's biography if it was awarded just for being in country and not totally fucking up, if that was the case. It is a Trumpish brag, you might say.
I am not a fan of this whole cuckservative thing. Many disagree with Trump, just like many disagreed with Romney and McCain. Trump politically is really not that different from Mitt or McCain. I still think Trump is better than Hillary.
And I don't dig that Milo likes Pineapple Pizza (he also likes cock). But if that is what it is and more power to him if it makes him happy.
Trumpish brag. Very well put. Donnie does the same shit all the time and should be called out for it. That doesn't mean he doesn't get credit for stuff he has done.
I mean Trump built a lot of buildings and made a lot of money. Mr French has been a toady and a lickspittle for the ruling class for quite some time. He deserves full credit for that.

As I said, I have no knowledge of which Bronze Star, none of the articles I saw specified.
His billet and other decorations tend to suggest the conduct one.
PS On the subject of alternative candidates, Paul Ryan has finally jumped aboard the Trump train.
He should be proud of his decoration. I would agree that it would seem to be a good conduct one. We can wait for calcification.
Maybe our crackerjack press corp can ask that in between hammering Trump about his donations to the vets and ignoring Hillary's email server shenanigans.
