“It’s the last place I want to be,” Jenner said. “But I’m open. We need both sides and if we’re unfortunate enough get Hillary as our next president, we need her on our side. Although she won’t be — she couldn’t care less about women.”
After Jenner’s friends criticized him for his conservative views, he said Republicans just had bigger things to worry about than “trans issues.”
“They’re just worried about much bigger issues than the trans issues,” Jenner added.

“We’re $18.5 trillion in debt. I think what they don’t realize is this country could collapse over this at some point and if our country collapses it doesn’t make any difference if you’re gay, trans, whatever.”

I'd settle for men being more like a man.
Nobody cares about the debt. If they did, there is no way we would have the people we have in office.
People think it's going to just *poof* go away, because that's what happens in real life, a bankruptcy judge just disappears it for them. There's some minor inconvenience about not being credit-worthy for seven years but the responsibility for paying for the value received of products made and services rendered just vanishes. Then there's the assholes who know that's not going to happen but don't think that the piper will need to be paid until well after they're gone. The OPM approach. Then there's the people that don't even know about the national debt. Someone asked me the other day to define, exactly, how continuing to run up debt is going to end. Like they need an actual visual of smoking rubble/Detroit/whatever in order to get their head around why continuously running up debt - with no payoff - is a horrible idea.
The Fed Reserve has interest rates low already, so now they gave up their one and only tool to stimulate the economy by doing a rate drop. So they will be helpless in a crash.
All those bonds owned by China banks- and when payment is demanded we will not have anything to exchange. The only thing the feds have is….land- huge amounts of federal real estate in the west. And Chinese people living in crowded polluted cities would love to retire early to AZ or NV or UT and live in a big American house next to a big American golf course. Perhaps Trump can promote the new developments, he is good at that.
If people gave half a shit about their country like they do the super bowl, I think there would be a different perspective and attention given to what is really going on financially in this country. I watched the debates last night and it was like watching your grandparents argue without the smell of olds and mothballs. Hillary was literally yelling and talking. like. this. the. entire. time. for. god. knows. what. reason. Both Republican and Democrat debates have the vocabulary of 3rd graders at this point. Trump talks in doubles and in circles. Cruz is talking about Constitutional issues which makes peoples eyes roll in the back of their heads. Rubio looks like an uncomfortable 10 year old. Kasich is just your dopey uncle on the side quipping about the good old days. Sanders is a big fat nothing socialist that wants to further codify wealth and income theft. He's convinced he's just the wizened old grandpa doing it for his grand kids. That's all he's got. Clinton is just a power hungry corruptocrat who thinks it's her time.
Honestly, the more I look at this. The more I believe we are fucked more than ever before. I am utterly disheartened at the prospects of the direction of this nation, it's future, and the leadership it has acquired. The House and the Senate have zero interests or desire to actually try and put forth legislation to minimize government into the life of the citizen. The executive is simply trying to figure out how to acquire more power. The Judicial is just wants to take a nap with some warm milk.
I'm tired of fighting for something I'll never never see. Conservativism is frankly persona non grata. It is my personal philosophy and it's a great one and I think it utterly destroys anything radical marxist leftism has to offer, but on a state and national scale, leftism is simply to attractive for the unwashed masses to overlook. you have the state giving the store away for simple voting blocs to keep them in power into infinity and accruing massive debts to do so on the backs of producers. It's that simple. We've lost the hearts and minds of our children. Millenials exemplify that fact. It's only going to get worse in academe. The point of no return was in November 2007. If democrats win the white house, I seriously believe that there will never be another republican again in my lifetime. Leftism has basically won. I hate saying that, but that's how I see it. The only thing conservatives can do is just remain as obstructionist as possible to try and stanch the leftist bleeding, but leftist bleeding it will do.
The name is Bruce.
"Nobody cares about the debt."
Painful but I have to agree. Every program is scrap-able but MY program.
Politicians simply respond to the I want mine now apres moi le deluge ethos of the public.
Meth-
Good Rant, I feel much the same way. My strategy is to minimize my entanglements with government. Will not rely on it for my retirement, nor for my personal safety, nor for my pursuit of happiness. Unlikely John Galt.
I really hope Bruce comes to his senses.
I'm really starting to like him (aside from "gender" issues brought about by a life inside the Lair of the Weird Sisters) and this girl thing is going to bring him nothing but grief.
LGBT
I get the L. And I get the G.
But the Ts need to admit they don't really belong and the Bs -- the Bs? Come. On. Just who the hell do the Bs think they even are?
Feet. Don't fail me now. And they didn't. After forty years, that's still the phrase that first comes to mind with Jenner's name. The rest is extra.
And Methadras, living with integrity matters, regardless, as it impacts those whose lives you touch, including those who appreciate your humor, comments and insight.

Liberalism is not hateful enough to sacrifice its weakest citizens for the sake of greatness and national expediency.
Left and right switch power every forty years, more or less.
1968 - 2008: 7/10 pres administrations were Republican
1928 - 1968: 7/10 pres administrations were Democratic
1888 - 1928: 7/10 pres administrations were Republican
etc.
Now come on. It may have fallen a long way, but this nation is still the greatest in history to this day. We can change things by simply voting for the right people, being consistent, determined and patient. The nation is turning overwhelmingly toward Republicans, and it will be far easier now to turn it toward conservative ones.
Prior to the 90s, Sweden was way down the Socialist stream and drowning in it with high taxes and stagnant growth. They pulled a 180 starting in the 90s, and through cutting taxes, benefits, and regulations they encourage free markets and saw an incredible turn around. This was initially started by a conservative government, and the austerity pissed off enough Swedes to turn the government back to the Social Democrats soon after. But, by then the economic turnaround was so obvious, profound, and clearly due to paring back big parts of the welfare state that the liberals actually continued and even increased the austerity and and market-sided reforms. Since then, Sweden has continued to cut taxes and regulation and increase private sourcing of services regardless of who is in charge.
All they had to do was elect people with the right solutions. let them try it, and off it went, even transforming socialists into free market lovers. We simply need to stop stepping on our own feet and unify behind candidates who understand the folly of government-based solutions to everything. People who promise to cut spending, cut regulations, and open up markets rather than trying to control and regulate them. We need to stop with the staying home, and the protest votes, and butt hurt over a candidate not having every idea in line with our own, or being too religious or not religious enough, or some other thing that isn't part of the job.
The idea of voting for the most conservative candidate who can win is valid, we just never do it. We don't have sufficient confidence in our own philosophy to both convince and win. Goldwater was a staunch conservative, but he lost back in the Jurassic period, so it must not be possible, right? Reagan - an unapologetic conservative won by the biggest margins ever twice. That was after Goldwater for those of you too young or too old to remember. We have not tried again since.
"Liberalism is not hateful enough to sacrifice its weakest citizens for the sake of greatness and national expediency."
It already has, just not for those ends.
Whatever.
You're barely more than Trump-like in your sincerity and have no political interest other than your wealth and compensating for your 1980 vote for Jimmy Carter.
How many more election years will be 1980s, bags? Will it still be 1980 in 2048, also? How about 2564?
The year 2700 will be a super-duper 1980.
People who promise to cut spending, cut regulations...
Oh, but they do! Big Bird! He needed to be cut! PBS! Huge cut there! Great important impediments to revenue and not just distracting symbols of government that no one cares about! Really, really serious proposals!
Keeping lead out of your water? I see a regulation! Cut it!
Your problem is your party never identifies anything concrete, specific and meaningful to get rid of, let alone describe how doing so creates more good than harm. You must be right... I think Republicans want to pick symbols to lose on rather than pragmatic things that anyone would agree with because it keeps the issue in play for the next permanent campaign. It's like abortion - conservatives don't want it to end. They want it to be an issue long enough for them to run on. (i.e. forever).
Bag, you are right. Even with all of the flaws we are still the best nation this world has had in it's miserable insufferable existence and I recognize that without issue. My point is, is that I am not into helping leftists sink it for no other reason than their ideology cannot permit or allow citizens to come under the auspices of their control. But I take heart that someday and I don't know when and I hope I get to see it, that I will walk out of my fully automated hermit cave (why the fuck would I not live in style in solitude), that i will see the country sheds the skin of marxist leftism.
If only the four-time elected FDR realized the low depths into which he sank the nation...
If only FDR realized how much more controlling he was of American freedom than true heroes like Joe McCarthy...
Surely the purges and blacklists will now be coming soon. It can't just be a right-wing victimhood/martyrdom complex speaking...
Will there come a time again when you can get 4 or 5% interest on a plain savings account? Or has capitalism morphed to a new level with obscure leveraging tools and too big to fail?
