"Trump campaign manager charged with battery of reporter"

Reuters:  The report from the Jupiter Police Department said Corey Lewandowski, 42, was charged for intentionally grabbing and bruising the arm of Michelle Fields, a reporter at the time for the conservative news outlet Breitbart, against her will at a Trump campaign event on March 8.
"Mr. Lewandowski is absolutely innocent of this charge," Trump's campaign said in a statement. "He will enter a plea of not guilty and looks forward to his day in court. He is completely confident that he will be exonerated."
Simultaneously, the police department released a video showing the incident between Fields and Lewandowski. Unlike previous videos released by news networks which were at the news conference, the new video is not obscured by people.
The video shows Fields walking alongside Trump and then Lewandowski grabbing her arm and pulling her backward.
Then there is this, from a woman claiming to have been inside the Trump train from the beguining...
It pains me to say, but he [Trump] is the presidential equivalent of Sanjaya on American Idol. President Trump would be President Sanjaya in terms of legitimacy and authority.
And I am now taking full responsibility for helping create this monster — and reaching out directly to those voters who, like me, wanted Trump to be the real deal.

It's not that the truth can't get it's pants on fast enough - it's that so many people prefer to chase the naked lie. Don't follow a streaker, or you might find yourself in a dead end alley with a naked dude.

Bull, if he was on the other side of the room - and, remember, Michelle Fields is a hardcore Cruzzer (it's why she quit Breitbart, remember?) and they lie all the time - then this is phony.

BTW the charge is misdemeanor battery.

PS Think you got the wrong link, dude. This one's about how The Donald can win. The one you're looking for is by Stephanie Cegielski, who misrepresents her role in the Trump campaign significantly, according to Snopes.

No, but it's been established Lewandowski didn't do that, he was all the way across the room. She was knocked down in that one, not brushed against, remember? This is a separate incident, sweetie, if you'd bother to look.

You're the one who's embarrassing herself.

But what are facts to someone determined to see President Hillary because she hates Donald Trump for saying something nice about Hillary?

ricpic said...

I just watched the 12 second tape. Apparently Fields was trying to get in a question after Trump had ended his question period with reporters and was leaving the stage. Lewandowski maybe, because it's very hard to see anything happening on the tape, steered her away from Trump. That's it. That's the whole "incident." Don't believe me? Watch the tape yourself and see what a tempest in a tea pot this is.

To speak knowledgeably about this issue, you'll need to know the Florida statute on battery. Do you have the text of that Florida law?

Simple battery may include any form of non-consensual harmful or insulting contact, regardless of the injury caused.

The One True Ted's plan to get out of the adultery thing(s) must be going badly, so we have this.

I hope somebody's following the money and the emails because you know this is a set up.

I was very on the fence about putting this up, but, since April's going berserk over at Insta, something to pique people's interest at what may be getting ready to explode. An interview with a girl who claims she was a paid "escort" who met Cruz for sexual trysts. A couple of things about this - it fits the pattern that some, Anonymous included, seem to be saying was the nature of Cruz' involvement with Amanda Carpenter and the piece gives the impression this girl is living in fear. From the Anointed One?

Such "battery" is committed on every bus, subway, trolley, and commuter railway in every big city in this country a hundred times a day.

Something else off Gateway, presented as a FWIW.

The guy interviewed is giving his opinion, but, in the interview, it sounds as if the woman who would be named as Cruz' paramour in the mea culpa would be Sarah Flores, Fiorina's campaign manager, also one of the women whose photo was IDed from the Enquirer piece. What I don't think the Cruz campaign took into account, if this interview has any connection with reality, was Amanda Carpenter's highly embarrassing and compromising trail on social media and the possibility Anonymous may have filmed her and Cruz in a compromising situation.

Ordinarily, I'd have just let this slide, but, since the I Hate Trump Crowd is going all Josef Goebbels today, why the Hell not?

Here's the thing. This will play out in a court of law where I predict it will be dismissed. As Ed says worse things happen on the Subway everyday. It is not quite the Apocalypse that every pajama boy in the media makes it out to be. If he is truly guilty than he should face the music. By all means lets litigate to give lawyers more money.

This reporter is following a well worn path of supposedly conservative reporters or correspondents or complementers who make their bones turning on Republican candidates and being praised by the liberal mainstream media. David Brock, Meghan McCain and Megyn Kelly are just a few that spring to mind.

As far at the Trump staffer who is turning on him this is another well worn cliche. You might recall that the same thing happened to Sarah Palin. Another populist who ran against the conventional wisdom. Nicole Wallace springs to mind. She took money to be a loyal consultant and staffer to the McCain Palin campaign but traded in on it to trash Palin and the Republican brand. She got a slot on the view and still has a rice bowl all over FOX and other cuckservative venues. Miss Smith is following the well worn path of biting the hand that fed her. Nothing new to see.

What will be amusing to see is the coverage of the prostitute that Ted Cruz employed. I believe she will be different however. She bit the dick that fed her.

No, you're not fit to report, and here you are reporting on yourself. This is a very boring distraction from the greatness of Trump, a little too transformative for the already transfixed!

Trump just spoke of this matter at length during a press conference onboard his airplane. The videos show Fields grabbing Trump's sleeve as Trump walked past, and showed Corey Lewandowski pushing her arm off of Trump. The expression of Fields' face does not change, there's no expression of pain, etc.

There was no grabbing, no pushing Fields down to the floor as she initially alleged. Trump said that he believes Lewandowski is innocent of battery and will not fire him. He pointed out the the reporters on the plane that they get jostled on a daily basis by security and others, because the the job and the close quarters. A couple of the reporters mumbled agreement.

Fields wasn't thrown down, she didn't yell or scream, she was not roughed up. She did not allege that Lewandowski caused her arm to be bruised until a later time.

No it's not. It's the dictionary definition of both personal responsibility AND loyalty. Maybe it's time America got back to those things.

Trump doesn't owe anyone to be the judge, jury and executioner of a guy who works for him. If he pays his legal fees, I think that's wonderful. Maybe more employers should be willing to look out for their employees legally than constantly on the look-out for ways to throw people under the bus.

And seriously. For touching someone's arm (at most) as they pushed them out of the way? For that to be even legally actionable shows just how lily-livered this country is. If more people pushed more nags and obstructionists and oafs and just plain slovenly douchebags out of the way then this country would be a better place, IMO. Way too many people coddled into thinking that by virtue of parking their do-nothing ass right in front of you they get to block all reasonable action - a mindset that rots all the way to the top. Fuck that BS. Enough.

bagoh20 said...

No one could seriously believe this is battery.” So now he’s been charged with battery.

There’ll be a new refrain today. Never forget: You’ll never talk someone out of believing something they really want to believe."

You're dreaming.

Cruz and Roe had it all set up to snatch them. They'd made sure they had their men on all the necessary committees to grab them up.

Now Rubio steps in and wants to keep them, which is his right under the rules.

If you'd been following this story, you'd know this is something of a disaster for the One True Ted.

Not as big as his many adulteries come back to bite him or shooting off his mouth before the vid of Lewandowski hit the 'Net, but a disaster all the same.

The Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pd1vWYr51tk&feature=youtu.be

He grabs her with his left hand and then his right. He stops her forward progress and pulls her backward about 5 feet. No serious battery in my mind, but technically, yes. It would be likely to get you a fist in the face from a man, but he would never do that to a man, because he's a bully and a pussy.

I wouldn't have filed charges myself, but Trumpers said if she didn't she was lying, so she did.

The important point is all the lying, denials, and blaming her by Trump and his followers as well as Breitbart's shameful response to their own reporter telling the truth. All this was done to support a politician. Very admirable stuff.

bagoh20 said...

If you want to believe that Rubio is trying to help Trump here, then you are simply too bright to be wasting time talking politics. Do something about the coming zombie apocalypse. We need you on that, pronto.

5 feet?

I didn't see no 5 feet... in that far-away grainy video footage.

5 feet I could see pressing forward on a battery charge without much shame, especially given her whole job situation, quitting, the embarrassment of Breitbart sucking up to Trump, etc.

But if it was just the inch of so of pushback that I saw then who cares.

None of this detracts from the unavoidable larger narrative: There is a go-along to get-along RNC and a guy who seems to at least pay lip service to a desperately needed loyalty in America. Now if only Breitbart had been loyal to their own employee, that would have reflected well on them.

But no. Breitbart is generally RNC or bust so of course it doesn't value loyalty. And hence, the mess that is this story.

Now, I'd get pissed if someone grabbed me and pushed me out of the way, but I wouldn't constitute it as being battered. He's going to win because a jury is going to look at her and what he did and basically tell her to get over it. Then I hope he turns around and sues her for defamation because she's basically smeared him as a batterer.

And his mommy is proud of him - everything he does he does with her blessing and prior approval. He is a good little boy that way.

Someone called 'Brando' @ TOP sums it up:

" Fields was roughly manhandled, perhaps by accident, and when she complained publicly the Trump camp decided instead of apologizing, explaining or (perish the thought) saying nothing for once, they lied and smeared her, calling her a delusional fabulist. As this is not just humiliating but career damaging (her employer taking Trump's side caused her to quit), she had no choice but to escalate and prove she wasn't lying. The police report was overboard, but at no point did the Trump campaign do the intelligent and reasonable thing and just say "sorry, we didn't mean to hurt you, we were just trying to keep people back from the candidate". Had they done that, and Fields continued to escalate, yes she would have been the villain here and Trump's team would have looked unfairly picked on. But no, that's not how the "never apologize, never wrong" Trump team operates. "

Allah sez:

"Newt and Ann will never give up on him, and it sounds increasingly like Rush Limbaugh is Trump 4 Life, but I wonder how many voters will decide that the Trump circus is simply too exhausting to force the country to endure it day in and day out for four years. That’s another way in which the GOP was supposed to have an advantage over Hillary this year. If you’re looking for a national reprieve from endless drama and scandal, don’t vote for a Clinton is usually good advice. Except maybe Clinton is actually the lesser of two evils on the ballot this year when it comes to headache-starting political carnivals. Somehow, faced with an opponent who’s widely disliked, who’s known for being a weak campaigner, and whose personal baggage is apt to sink her in a general election, we’re on the cusp of nominating a guy who’s disliked to an historic degree, who may not field a traditional campaign apparatus beyond what the RNC can cobble together for him, and who’s got 40 years of tabloid dirty laundry for Democrats to sift through. They’re going to nominate the would-be first woman president and we’re going to nominate a guy who defends a friend who’s just been charged with battery against a young woman by hinting that maybe she put those bruises on herself."

One of the things I am enjoying about letting go of any emotional attachment to political candidates is being able to stand back and look objectively at what candidates say they believe.

This list.....

Strong support of second amendment.
Keep terrorists out of our country.
Require immigrants to follow laws already on the books.
No amnesty.
Build a wall on the southern border.
Replace Obamacare.
Re-build and strengthen the military
Keep the promises made to those on social security.
Require our allies to pay for some of the military protection they get from the US.
Eliminate FedGov waste and corruption.
Block grant education funds to the states.
Improve our trade agreements.
Reduce taxes on overseas profits repatriated by US companies.
Eliminate the labyrinthian federal income tax laws and regulations.
Keep the homeland safe and free.
Support Israel.
End FedGov payments for abortion services.
Appoint constitutional conservatives to federal courts and the SCOTUS.
Strengthen the US economy to create job growth.
Tell the truth about the real unemployment numbers.

.....includes some of the things that Trump has campaigned on. (In fairness, most, but not all, of this list is what all the GOP candidates have campaigned on. There are some key differences, though, like whether or not to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants, building a wall, etc.)

I really don't see the objection to those positions listed above. From a detached perspective, It appears that the hatred for Trump is simply based on not liking the guy's personality. Fair enough, but let's be honest about it.

Oh by the way, Since some of yo will remember that I was at one time all-in for Paul Ryan, I'll mention that I've let go of that as well. Objectively, Ryan has morphed into an establishment Republican, and looking at what he believes now versus what he believed four or more years ago shows quite a difference.

He will be primaried this cycle, and I'm glad to see it.

April, there's no proof whether her bruises were or were not faked. None. People can equally believe either side of that story.

I hope it's not too late for Republicans to follow Scott Walker's lead and come together around 1 candidate who can win in November. President John Kasich.

Cruz and Trump are free to form their own party. They can call it the My Wife Is Prettier Than Your Wife Party.

Paul Ryan will make an excellent president after Kasich's 2 terms.

This video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWO0nyJ1IL0

shows the best angle I've seen. The one in this article is too choppy. Then if you listen to the audio of her talking with the male reporter who witnessed it, they exaggerate beyond acceptable limits. Her initial claims are nowhere near what the video shows.

If you look closely at the stills and photos here:

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-campaign-manager-corey-lewandowski-charged-battery-reporter/story?id=38002797

You can see where Mr. Lewandowski grabbed Ms. Fields, above the elbow. It is shown in the still at the link. Below that, we see evidence of her bruises- around her wrist.

The video clearly shows Lewandowski made the grab and and continued walking as one fluent motion.

To my mind, Ms. Fields made a big deal out of nothing, set women's rights back 50 years like Pentangle on Insty keeps saying, and basically reiterates the problem we have with people being special f*cking snowflakes who can't handle the real world.

And it shows that even righty sites like Breitbart are not immune from hiring stupid people. This was a crap sandwich from the get go. I'll go eat some mud instead, thanks.

Sanders Statement on Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association

March 29, 2016
Contact: Michael Briggs (802) 233-8653

APPLETON, Wis. – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Tuesday issued the following statement after a 4-4 split decision by the Supreme Court left in place a lower court ruling allowing unions representing government employees to collect fees from workers who choose not to join:

“Today’s split decision underscores the need to confirm a Supreme Court nominee who will protect the constitutional rights of American workers to collectively bargain for fair wages and safe working conditions.

“The extreme right wing is just one conservative Supreme Court justice away from dismantling the rights of public sector unions to organize and collectively bargain on behalf of all of the workers they are legally bound to represent. We cannot allow that to happen.

“From Wisconsin to California, the extreme right wing has been waging a war to dismantle unions all over this country. That is a war they cannot be allowed to win.

“Working people in this country need a seat at the bargaining table to fight for higher wages, decent health care, a secure retirement and a safe working environment. Public sector unions are that voice. And if I am elected president, I’m not going to let the Supreme Court take away that voice.

“While Republican governors like Scott Walker and the Koch brothers may not like it, we are going to make it easier, not harder, for American workers to form a union. We need to expand, not eliminate, the collective bargaining rights of all Americans. When unions are strong, the middle class is strong.”

One does not need to be a trained professional in the Science of Objectivity in order to recognize the voice of an ego state. The willingness to work with, play with and be open to and present with children who've experienced abuse, trauma or a life situation they were unable to process in safety will enhances one's ability to identify the voice as well as what it's attempting to hide and protect.

Lem made a not so subtle hint by linking to a couple of Turley blog posts. However, the good hearted Lem does not understand borderline personality, abused children. Doing something like that just makes them more pathological. It took Turley a long time to take his blog back and ban the female counterpart to our lawnboy, Inga. Wordpress makes it much easier to run trolls than does blogger. But, as far as I can tell, only one person who posts here deletes this dysfunctional, needy, asshole. Lem needs to have a conference w/ the other bloggers here and come up w/ a unified strategy. Your blog is being trashed by a mean, jealous, loser.

Sometimes it's helpful why a person would want attention for a seemingly minor thing. You gotta wonder, right? I mean who'd want all that publicity, for goodness sake?

A person with a book being published in June might want that attention.

MamaM said...

Your blog is being trashed by a mean, jealous, loser.

Add angry to the list, Nick.

What's been showing up doesn't involve honest conflict, which can be worked through, but something stronger, seemingly intent on destruction. The same was true with the Oop's approach which didn't involve disagreement so much as a desire to shut down and take something away from another. It involves an "If I can't have this, you can't have it either" approach, which was employed with an almost deadly effect when used on one of the Althouse jewels who "defected" to Lem's.

The juvenile voice currently showing up tracks with that of a 4th grader into silly tit for tat one-upmanship, and functions in conjunction with a mid-adolescent voice skilled in use of "flex" techniques like sarcasm (hidden anger) and passive aggressive zingers lamely delivered as humor or ingratiation.

A fine example of this is the MamaM, you angel, you. retort. Cute if it wasn't symptomatic of something else.

Meade said...

Look up "passive- aggressive" I have a feeling you don't know as much as you think you do.

Lol! Have whatever feeling you want, Meade! After accumulating over 50 years of onsite training, technique perfection and lived experience on both the giving and receiving end, I've no need to look it up. I know it like the back of my hand.

While you can continue to compromise what's left of your integrity delivering more juvenile silliness and dismissive snark, it doesn't appear to me as though that approach is yielding anything close to respect or meaningful connection here. At most, it demeans you and your partner.
