Absolutely true. I hate the place. It's pure torture for me. I'd honestly prefer to go to the dentist. The pain doesn't last as long and at least they try to dull it instead of rub it in.
Never been inside the gates to my knowledge. Went to a continuing legal education seminar at the hotel in Anaheim once. Hotel filled with Germans/Yurps wearing shorts and fannypacks and einzveidrei-ing all over the elevators. My cousins lived down there and used to sneak in all the time back in the 70s. I may have sneaked in or may have passed out and been left behind in the basement which is where I woke up. Iffy recollection.
Never been to Disney World, but went to Disney Land when I was about five. Had fun. Now I hate amusement parks because I can't do spinny rides, even the carousel, because they make me feel sick. I used to love roller coasters, but now they've been ruined with the corkscrews that just jerk you about and make you hit your head.
I've been to World not Land. I found it enjoyable enough, if you have a small fortune to spend. My experience was nothing like Bags, except at one location in the park. I recommend avoiding "It's a Small World" ride by about 100m or more.
I just hate lines, expensive junk, and people. If you hate people like I do, it's like hell, a rolling noisy sea of hell with the background of disney music over, and over, and ove, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over...
bags needs to come out of his shell and tell us what he really thinks. Disney World was a painful experience. But, our kids loved it so that made it tolerable to my bride and I. Epcot is fun. Not as crowded, more like a World's Fair, and good food.
I general, I am suspicious people who knee-jerk dismiss Disney in general and Disneyland/CAAdventure in particular. Carol_Herman was one of those people and that's one reason why we couldn't get along. I've never been to Disneyworld and so have no opinion of it.
I love theme park rides. I don't dismiss Disney, I just don't have a specific recollection of Disneyland and have never been to Disney World. They're part of the American fabric but lately they're party to destroying that fabric. Disney laid off long-term, excellent American workers and flew in H-1B workers to do their jobs. Plus, Disney has long been a part of the Hollywood-media complex bullshit mill.
@Amartel: I wasn't talking about the recent H-1B fiasco: I was talking about the longer standing disdain felt and expressed by "hipper-than-thou" Americans and especially "intellectuals" concerned about American ideals.

Good find, Lem.

I think it can make a normal person into a serial killer, maybe even lead to genocide.
Bambi had a cute tush. Other than that I was lukewarm to Disney animation.

It needs more alcohol, but so does my dentist's office.
