"Sarah Palin Endorses Donald Trump"

NYT: “I’m proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for president,” Ms. Palin said in a statement provided by his campaign.

Her support is the highest-profile backing for a Republican contender so far.

“I am greatly honored to receive Sarah’s endorsement,” Mr. Trump said in a statement trumpeting Mrs. Palin’s decision. “She is a friend, and a high-quality person whom I have great respect for. I am proud to have her support.”

I never expected this endorsement, not in a million years.

The Death Knell for Trump begins with this endorsement. I lulz of course, but you can see the KosKids blowing it out of their asses right now at this.

There is nothing conservative, and especially Tea Party about Trump. I'm going soft on him after getting a slight chubby over his complete perplexing of the elites. That's wearing out at this point, and I'm thinking how much I would probably hate a Trump Presidency He's different, but mostly in embarrassing ways. He's an accomplished, successful goofball. We never get any of the best to choose from.

Quid pro quo, or does Ms. Palin miss the limelight...or both? Cruz has been badly screwed.

Leland said...

I think this will hurt Trump, and I'm not kidding.

bagoh20 said...

The novelty has worn off. He can still win, because the Dems are a complete mess, but man, with such an opportunity we had to come up with this to take the low hanging fruit?

Palin did a good job of expressing exactly what his strengths are, but he's gonna wear thin. That said, it will be exciting for the first year, and either a huge surprise or a huge embarrassment after that. He won't be boring.

Methadras said...

This may actually help Cruz. Palin's family drama may be enough to push people to Cruz. It's possible.

How many real voters can she pull over to the Trump ticket? I'd guess not that many, but that's mostly because I have cooled considerably in my attraction to her.

As a commenter said "Politician turned reality star endorses reality star turned politician".

deborah said...

Yeah, but job one is to win over the religious right in Iowa, she could be the tipping point for that.

bagoh20 said...

Of course Cruz is the natural candidate for her endorsement, but Trump makes everyone crazy for hope and change.

Leland said...

Palin's family drama

That's inline with my thoughts.

I'm not surprised at all. Palin is a natural fit for the Trump philosophy. Of course, this will drive some of the Trump crossover voters back to Hillary, but they deserve her.

I just want Trump to pledge that he will put Judge Judy on the Supreme Court. The alternative is that Bernie Sanders will demand reparations for the 10% of college graduates still flummoxed by child proof caps.

Palin was a prophet. Back when liberals kept insisting that we had reached Peak Oil and that we were on the verge of running out of oil, she said that we have unlimited reserves of oil and that all we had to do was to drill to tap those unlimited reserves. At the time, the liberal crusade was for "energy independence" and Palin correctly pointed out that we had the capability to achieve that. She was governor of the biggest oil producing state, so she was in a position to know. Fracking proved her right. Our oil reserves are practically unlimited.

A physicist friend has pointed me to research that shows that oil is not a finite commodity either. It is constantly being produced within the core of the earth. The vilification of Palin began with her statements that we have unlimited reserves of oil. She was supposed to be a crazy for saying that. Years later, we know she was right and her critics were wrong.

So now we wait to see how much pull Palin still has after all these years, positive and negative. I still have a lot of sympathy for her after all she went through at the hands of both party establishments. She seems like a nice person. She was driven out of politics (resigned in order to avoid becoming a burden on her state due to all the frivolous leftard vengeance lawsuits brought against her) and turned to reality celebrity to keep the coin coming in. I don't hold it against her not do I blame her because some of the kids are silly. I do wonder about this endorsement, why she would abandon Cruz. They seem like fairly parallel ideologically. And, no, I don't think it's because he's a "nasty guy" who "doesn't get along with anyone." Thanks, Blowhard, for summing up your own approach and projecting it onto your nearest competitor. Anyway, Palin. I do wonder, given her fading celebrity, if this is an effort to renew her relevance and bank ability. There was a lot of drama surrounding and leading up to this announcement today.

Palin was GREAT on energy and general conservative governing principles back when she was in office.

I want to ask you a serious question, Bagoh20, because I'm interested in and curious about how and why and what you're thinking about the endorsement, and this is so because of your 7:41 p.m. comment ("Of course Cruz is the natural candidate for her endorsement, but Trump makes everyone crazy for hope and change."), specifically with regard to the "Of course Cruz is the natural candidate for her endorsement" part:

Why do you think Cruz is "the natural candidate for her endorsement" and, also, why "Of course"?

Again, this is a serious question, because--and only because--I'm seriously curious and interested in the answer.

NP, and no hard feelings, if you choose not to answer.

bagoh20 said...

" Trump is the best thing to happen to the Republican party since Reagan."

I give that title to Obama, who long before Trump was a Republican was already putting Republicans in office all over the country, and swelling the ranks of Second Amendment patriots. Trump is a carpetbagger on the Tea Party bus.

bagoh20 said...

"Why do you think Cruz is "the natural candidate for her endorsement" and, also, why "Of course"?"

They go way back, as Cruz is saying tonight. He's saying on TV right this very moment that he owes a lot of his success to her, and that he is a big fan despite this endorsement. They were both big Tea Party darlings, and being Tea Party myself, I watched that. Trump was nowhere to be found back then, and is riding their wave now, so why Trump and not Cruz. You gotta wonder.

It's funny you mention peak oil because i was thinking about that when oil went below $30 per barrel and I kept going back to the studies the purported peak oil and how I laughed at them. I've always had an inkling that abiogenic oil production was at play, but had no way to prove it because no one has ever seen it, but there is enough circumstantial evidence to suggest that the earth is actually creating petroleum. Do I think that surface organics over hundreds of millions of years of subductive heat and pressure created oil and natural gas? Absolutely and you can see that in the organic molecular chains that created them, but if you believe that then why not that earth is creating it too?

Also, whatever came about from all of those Palin emails the leftists were drooling over? Did the leftists find anything in those 25k pages of emails from when she was governor? Nope. Not a single thing. However, Hillary on the other hand.

Unfortunately, abiogenic petroleum is pretty much an old discredited theory. All petroleum is almost certainly produced from fossils like Sanders and Clinton, and socialism.

chickelit said...

It isn't necessary to postulate abiotic oil. It's enough to note that we just keep finding ingenious ways to get at more of it. Plus, we probably haven't tapped but a fraction of oil and gas trapped undersea. Look at California, for example. So much oil and gas offshore that it seeps out all on its own.

Putting everything else aside, including my intervening comment not related to this one, part of what's bugging me about the narrative that, somehow, Palin has betrayed Cruz is what seems to me (and God and everyone else knows that I can be wrong! and don't I know it!) an underlying assumption that somehow, somewhere Cruz did a favor first for Palin, and then she did one for him, and then time passed on, and here we are in 2016, and he's gotten left with the short end of the stick, a.k.a. a favor short of being even, not to mention being the one left with a loyalty deficit. I'm having trouble squaring that narrative with the timeline since at least the turn of the century. I just am.

Thanks for the NR article written by Cruz. I still think he'd be a valuable conservative voice on the SCOTUS. I just don't think his voice is mainstream enough.

Sarah Palin has always had middle America cred which is what might work for Trump in Iowa. Of course, she might have done the same for Cruz but she chose not to. Why? Maybe she assessed inchoate electibility factors.

bagoh20 said...

I say we were fooled by Obama with the democratic royal "we". I wasn't, as I didn't vote for him. I heard many people who did though express complete ignorance of his past and his positions. There are many videos of Obama supporters who had no idea who they were voting for, even to the point of supporting Republican positions if you simply told them they were Obama's positions. I'm seeing that dynamic with Trump supporters. You can say anything about him, and they are fine with it because he says what they want to hear about the people they hate. It's disappointing to see that on the Right. Trump has a lot of resume that recommends him for the job, but also a lot that does not recommend him as what I'm looking for. I want smaller government - period. We will always have crooks and incompetents in the government. The only way to mitigate their disastrous effect is to reduce the number and the power they have. Trump has not shown any real passion for that, although he may do it once in office, but we have no idea, and he's not giving us one.

You have to be pretty feminized through and through to not understand this about male sexuality. You already have a woman, you can stop pretending now. I abandoned that posing in 11th grade. As for "real elevated", what more can be expected of a migration of splooge stooges who swam upstream during the heat of July, seeking a real elevated place to land as their comment home, before settling in with Lem's Levity, referred to in some circles as the bastard blog child of Althouse?

The Word Origin & History of elevate:
elevate late 15c., from L. elevatus, pp. of elevare "lift up, raise," from ex- "out" + levare "lighten, raise," from levis "light" in weight (see lever).

All that talk of banging caused my elevated mind to consider drums, knuckles, doors and gongs, before veering into a full blown glam rock rendition of "Bang a Gong, Get it On", with enough vibration to start Sarah Palin's Sparkle Jacket swinging all over again, before heading over to Chuck Berry's to check out "Little Queenie",the supposed inspiration for all that banging, to cover the crazy energy the SP is releasing:

Well if she's in the mood
No need to break it
I got the chance and I oughta take it
If she can dance we can make it
C'mon queenie let's shake it

I said go, go, go, little queenie

Which I'm thinking has got to drive the Big Queenie (Who completed her debate ensemble this time around with a Royal Circlet of Jewels) closer to the edge of nuts.

You know, i had something witty and pithy all typed up as a retort to this little bit of sting that you tried and mustered up. I read it over and over again, I laughed at my own response to you because it was just that good and then I read what you have said: "Right, Meth — you're real elevated, bro." and I read it over and over and over again. And I pictured you sitting there in the glow of the screen as you typed that out and I suddenly was overcome with an image of you that was just sad and pitiable. Like a withered vine, with no potency or vitality. The life being drained from just the act of thinking up what you said to me and hitting the "Publish your comment" button.

I can see now why you have become a reviled individual in certain circles. The truth of it really. It wasn't all the drama over at TOP, well, some of it maybe, but not all of it. It's like your that small little kid, who stands behind the big bully kid like a lackey or a sidekick, doing the big bully's business.
