Glenn Reynolds: The New York Times Deploys ‘Stray Voltage.’

"Because when people are talking about gun control, they’re not talking about Obama’s many failures, ranging from the failures of vetting and counterterrorism that may have led to the San Bernardino attacks themselves, to Obama’s foreign policy debacles in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, to how the #BringBackOurGirls hashtag campaign against Boko Haram accomplished nothing, to how Putin is running wild in Eastern Europe, to Obama’s plans to import more poorly-vetted refugees from Muslim countries that foment terror or the still-anemic economy that has left far too many Americans unemployed or underemployed despite years of “recovery.”"

"Those are all things that the Obama Administration — and the Hillary Clinton campaign — don’t want to talk about. So the editorial board of the Times has pulled out all the stops to ensure that we talk about gun control instead. Gun control isn’t a great issue for the Democrats, but it’s better than all those other topics of discussion, and the expected angry response from the gun-rights community will ensure that people aren’t talking about topics that make the White House look bad." To the NYT Ed Bd: Obama's failures are everywhere. You cannot escape them. You can only keep changing the topic.

The President isn't running for office, and nobody has the balls to impeach, so the concentration should be on Hillary's part in the failure that pretty much everyone sees at this point. Eye on the ball.

I agree. So far she's just been an Obama clone. If Republicans have a "clown car", then Democrats have a "clone car."

Can there be anything more degrading than being someone's clone?

What are Hillary's three biggest accomplishments that qualify her for President? You could ask that of all the candidates and you would realize that we have all the wrong people running for the top job. The best people in this country are on the bench. Like him or not, I think Trump is one of the few who is qualified. Likely to win is a different question, and it shouldn't be.

Obama and Hillary don't care about proper vetting. They care about power, rhetoric, money, and destroying their political opponents.

I submit that ever since Obama has taken power, our nation has been purposely flooded with illegal immigrants.

Redistributing people. All part of the plan.

Moving fungible assets around, like pawns on a chessboard. Like charitable donations to the Clinton Fund.

Everything is worse after 7 years, except the economy which was in deep recession when he started and which had nowhere to go but up. Still, the slowest recovery since the 30's. Heath care is nearly ruined, foreign policy is an embarrassment with the whole middle east falling toward radical Islamists, and our allies trusting us less than they do the Russians. The debt is much higher, immigration is a mess, crime is way up, racial tensions are the worst in my lifetime, and the Democrats have been devastated across the country in elections. Wait, that last one is actually a pretty amazing accomplishment for one guy. Oh yea, and he is an amazingly productive gun salesman.

According to Hillary and Obama, we can save ourselves from ISIS with proper semantics.

I don't agree with Glenn that gun control is merely a diversionary tactic for Democrats. All criticism of leftist tyranny will become academic if the Left is able to abrogate the 2nd Amendment. No, the Left understands that it can't succeed in a head on repeal of the 2nd Amendment, but by chipping and chipping and chipping away at the legality of owning different categories of guns and by raising and raising and raising the fees and taxes associated with purchasing and registering and maintaining safety standards etc. etc. the Left can effectively make gun ownership so onerous that many will be discouraged and then stop purchasing because of the hassle. The Left's timeline is AS LONG AS IT TAKES. The Left is looking beyond the next election, beyond the next decade. And to repeat, once the 2nd Amendment has been "neutralized" opposition to the leftist enslavement agenda will become ACADEMIC, i.e. toothless.

They feel compelled to talk and gun control is just the least of many evils right now, and allows them to pretend to pretend to be doing something. The problem is that the preference cascade is headed, slowly, on delicate little brontosaur feet, in another direction now. It's like at the end of Bush II when every topic was toxic, and every evil automatically was attributed to Bush except that the Republicans knew when to shut up. Obama & Fans are so unused to being talk blocked. Sulking and in denial about the whole thing. PLEASE Continue talking, lecturing, scolding, shaming everyone. Really. You're totally helping your cause.

Trying remove the Second Amendment is probably the only one that would result in actual civil war - 270,000,000 guns in a rebel army perfectly concealed and camouflaged among the sheep. I'd prefer we just vote for people who understand and respect our constitution.

New poll puts Cruze ahead of Trump in Iowa 24/19.

Immigration is not a top priority among voters. Current polls show it even less important than it was a few months ago. It was 4th most important in July and now drops to 6th.
