Have you ever had a pork chop that weighs over a pound? They're like Fred Flintstone pork chops. If this works I think it will make a decent dinner for a birthday boy or girl.
Also Tony's sells an applewood bacon that is cut so thickly, honestly, it cannot be used as we understand bacon, the paper-thin stuff that you poke an egg yolk, this is not possible with the thick cut applewood bacon. No matter what it cooks like pork-jerky. It's just impossibly chewy.
However, a single slice can flavor an entire pot of beans completely . No additional flavorings, non onion, no garlic, no chiles, no cumin nor brown sugar, nothing, no salt, no pepper, nothing at all because the bacon is perfect and it gives its abundant flavor freely. So beans it is. I'm calling the dinner pork and beans, as misdirection, then boom, 1Lb pork chop and the most impossibly delicious beans imaginable flavored only by bacon.
