My best friend growing up remains a steadfast Met fan. I wasn't big into baseball, but he was basically my brother and so I was a Met fan. We went to one game a year with another friend, Fan Appreciation Day. I have my little bats here by my desk in case I need to bludgeon someone. We were very excited, super amped, at the 2000 Subway Series. Well, we all know how that went. I stopped following even casually because sports really isn't my thing.
When I heard the news, I texted him congratulations. The joke? He has been waiting half his life for this again. We were born in 1986. Amazin'.
The first Indians game I took him to was at Camden Yards and Colon was pitching. I'd only ever been to one MLB game before, at Municipal Stadium. So at Camden it was a night game, and when we walked up the steps into the stands and saw the lit-up field, I swear it was like walking into the television set.
To top it all off, we were sitting just below the open window of the announcers'(?) box. A foul ball sailed into it, and my son dressed in his Indians cap and shirt, with a glove on, jumped up on his seat and begged them for the ball...they gave it to him.

I heard a stat by Ron Darlin after the Mets clinched the World Series the other day...
The Mets have led in scoring all throughout the series, the have never been behind.
They appear unbeatable. Trump like you might say even.
Who made the Mets great again ... That's what I want to know 😾
We'll always have Piazza.
I never underestimate the ability of the Mets to blow it. It is quite gratifying this year, living in the middle of Braves country, to be a Mets fan.
#TORvsKC tied at 3 in a delayed 8th.
I wanted Toronto to face the Mets. The best hitting against the best pitching.
Mets got the young arms! And Bartolo Colon too!!

Shea was a toilet.
That is why it was appropriate that it is situated in Flushing, Queens.
Everyone knows the meaning of the Irish name "Shea", right?
