"Israeli ambassador claims Palestinian kids are taught 'how to stab Jews' "

"Before the start of a UN Security Council meeting in New York on Friday, Danny Danon held up a diagram of the human body entitled 'How to stab a Jew'. He alleged the same image was being shown to young Palestinian students, who are 'taught how to hate'."

I have one problem with that chart he shows...the English Title. If it was meant to be a translation, then say so...or did I miss that. No doubt in my mind that such things are used, just that the language on the chart doesn't seem too "Arabic" to me. I know a lot of Arabs, I live with them and happily so...and they usually write in Arabic when for consumption outside of the USA...or for each other. This appears to be designed to appeal inside the USA or the UK. Propaganda is tricky that way...I am equally puzzled by the English signage in sundry Middle East protest fandangos...could it be designed to influence others outside the ME? What's the deal here?

I don't get the business about Israel claims and Israel alleges. Abbas - the Palestinian leader and according to schmuck Kerry Israel's peace partner - openly celebrates the shedding of Palestinian blood in the Holy Cause of Jew killing.

Yea, there is no controversy, or even a question about what the two sides want. Just listen to what they say, and watch what they do. They aren't hiding anything.

Israel wants peace.
Palestinians want the Jews dead.

That's exactly what they say, and exactly how they act.

Everyone knows it, though many will not admit it, but if the Arabs stopped fighting the Jews there would be peace and progress. If Israel stopped fighting they would all be dead. Those are the two sides' stated objectives. Only one side has a choice here, and they keep choosing badly.

The U.N. will now issue funds (our tax dollars) to reproduce and distribute this graphic on a wide sale to better educate the children of the world.

One problem:

Israelis are armed to the teeth.

What's that rule about knives?

Abbas, aka Abu Mazen, doesn't really want peace with Israel. He's rejected every offer, just as his predecessor did. Were it to happen he'd be out of a job. And cash.

I too am skeptical of the diagram. It looks far too professional, and I didn't even consider the English aspect that Aridog noted. That is not to say Palestinians are not taught how to kill, but bad/fake propaganda doesn't help confirm the story.

I grudgingly give the sign a pass...since the Palestinians also use English on their posters...I presume for more attention. I presume that was the point on the subject poster. Wider attention. What's good for the Palestinians is good for the Israelis I guess. Still seems like an odd composition.

There are (were?) Muslim schools in Britain demonstrating how to sever the hand of a thief, etc.

what's going on here? [with the language swithcheroo]

*pedant alert* English is lingua franca, *end pedant* which means "tongue sausages." No it doesn't.

Just a minute ago I was reading a link from Drudge because I couldn't understand what the link meant. I followed the link to see what Netanyahu is on about.

NETANYAHU: Incitement is 'Bin Laden meets Zuckerberg'...

What does that even mean?

It means Facebook is facilitating incitement Palestinian violence against Israelis and Netanyahu says this is clear by their investigations.

Simple enough. Duh. I should have figured that out myself without following the link. That was hardly a puzzle at all. I'm slipping.

In the report another guy speaking in their Knesset, Bennett said, purposely speaking in English.

"I call upon our friends around the world to support us..."

Why? Because now he is speaking to the world and English is lingua franca, in fact, it's soooo lingua franca we should change the name of lingua franca to "World Language, English" In your FACE mthr*#@k1rs. Just for fun. You know, change the world for the better and all that. Link it to Global Climate™ to sell it, boom, world language and world religion in one go.

[distant tiny squeaky voice] Whoever would have thought the unifying world religion on Earth would end up being Environmentalism and the world language English? Seems it doesn't matter which religion nor which language prevails, irregardless of superior alternative, as long as most the world is unified, and the stragglers do not matter either, to satisfy the first step of this planet and its system of inhabited planets to become settled in light and life as perceived by universe intelligences. OooooUuuummmmm ching ching

Okay, I can understand the use of this dishonest phrase - "our friends" - because it's what politicians do to paper over the harsh reality of international affairs. Israel has no friends. But then neither does the United States. Or Russia. Or Great Britain. Or any nation. Israel has interests. As do the other named nations. For most of Israel's existence its interests have somewhat coincided with the interests of the United States, the only "friend" that counts from Israel's perspective. Since 2009 this has not been the case in that Obama the virulent Jew hater is a gigantic exception to any other previous president. Until he's gone Israel is on its own, an existential crisis. After Obama? Not good with Hillary but probably not total isolation. With a Republican president back to "friendship," even if strained at times.

Chip Ahoy ... you make a good point vis a vis English as lingua franca. I am always amazed at how many foreign born and foreign living people, not migrant to North America or the UK, speak English relatively well, sometimes better than I do. I live among Arabs, a few "right off the boat" so to speak, and at least half of them speak passable English. Enough so I regret that I cannot speak Arabic at times. When I lived in Korea I made the effort to learn Korean, perhaps at what would be called an 8-9 year old's level, but learned less of Hangul, the Korean written language. Seemed the thing to do because I was living in their country. That said, my neighborhood is not exactly "their country" for Arabs, although many assimilate quickly.

You converse with a Lebanese person here and often find they speak Arabic, French, and English....are we failing our kids by not enforcing second languages in our schools? Today are good one might be Mandarin, at least...might help you if in government or business. I kind of doubt my 4 years of Latin in high school was as helpful.
