western fires sunset

Another odd sunset. I was unpacking the backpack, looked up and saw a large orange circle illuminating the whole sky orange like nothing I've seen before. The sun was quickly tucking behind a building, had I noticed earlier it'd be even more splendid and strange. The sun was orange, straight on, not yellow.

And I saw grasshopper just sitting there not a frog hopping by, other than that it looked exactly like this. Like a scene from another planet.

You'll be seeing a lot of that until the atmosphere clears.

Think Krakatoa.

Thursday was beautiful. The first clear day we've had in a while. the sky was blue, the rain clouds meandered in and were lovely. Now the gross haze is back.

Red sky at night, sailor's delight; red sky at morning, sailor's warning.

But that's only true sans forest fires.
