I don't really like the Super Bowl, but I like football, which manages to make an appearance. I'm amazed to see how the packagers of this spectacle manage to take something fun and interesting -- a football game -- and very nearly kill it.
Just now, Al Michaels showed us pictures of rich, allegedly important people, attending the game. Really? "Here are all the people who are rich enough to be here -- unlike YOU."
The last time Al Michaels appeared on screen, he had a very red head of hair. He is about 70. Dude, we know that's not natural. It's okay to have grey hair when you are 70.
They led with KP's "Teenage Dream"--a more evil and exploitative song/video would be hard to imagine. Rich people like Katy Perry can live that "dream," but ordinary teens who absorb that evil face hard lives as a result.
I wasn't planning to watch the SB, but I did anyway. What AllenS said about that last play by Carroll & Sea Hawks...WTF was he/they thinking. Congratulations to the rookie Malcom Butler, great pick and the intelligence to roll away and get back across the goal line. Too bad he wasn't celebrated more in the post game hoopla.
That makes it four football games I watched this year, way up from the last two years. Glad I did, however. As for Katy Perry...not fond of her politics or her music..Beyonce lite....YMMV.

Seahawks caught a break rouging the Patriots kicker.
Seahawks 3 and out
2nd first down Patriots.
1st down Gronko
Blount picked up extra yards after getting hit.
Brady gets picked in the end zone.
He panicked. had he held on to the ball they score a field goal.
He could have thrown it away, but nooooooooooooo.
End of 1st quarter 0 - 0
Wilson is getting all day to throw.
We're half way to half time.
That Wilson lob should have been picked.
I'm picking NE. How about you, Lem?
This game will have more commercial breaks than actual playing minutes.
I can't stand Chris Collingsworthless.
schwarzenegger is doing another Terminator?
Brady is a little tentative after the pick
The Seahawks coverage looks very good.
Edelman... the would be quaterback
bah.
Fake and TD lAFELL
How long will it take before the Seahawks cross the 50?
The Seahawks were not all that good against Wisconsin.
With all the hype people seemed to forget that.
One trick play won the game. They have no chance against NE.
That's a good question. So far they are relying on Lynch too much if you ask me.
Spe3aking of Arnie this is funny. (thanks, Bagoh)
"One trick play won the game."
The fake field goal.
Wilson sacked.
"Wilson has not completed a pass"
Wow.
Edelman!
First 3 and out NE.
This next series of plays will tell whether Seattle has any chance at all.
They haven't done squat so far.

That's why the game is progressing speedily along.
That was the second penalty all game long.
That guy was short.
That was a mismatch.
Just now, Al Michaels showed us pictures of rich, allegedly important people, attending the game. Really? "Here are all the people who are rich enough to be here -- unlike YOU."
Tied game. 7 - 7
Lem said...schwarzenegger is doing another Terminator?
I saw the trailer at "American Sniper" last week. It doesn't look that great.
The Pats are winning? Beware Seattle in the second half.
I thought that NE would have 3 TDs by now.
The last time Al Michaels appeared on screen, he had a very red head of hair. He is about 70. Dude, we know that's not natural. It's okay to have grey hair when you are 70.
Wow, I tuned in just at the exact moment to see a Seahawk touchdown, the actual touchdown.
Thank you, unseen guiding hand that prompts my impulses.
I had to find it on the teevee. And right after that they kick a field goal and go to commercial so I didn't have to watch a moment of nonsense.
Psychic incidences with such impressive éclat as this must not go unacknowledged because, Man, sometimes these coincidences sure can be coincidental.
Blunt forced his way to within inches of a first.
I am about to broil some steaks. I was going to grill them, but I didn't refill the propane tank.
1ST down penalty.
NE happy to play for short yards.
Within field goal range.
TD Gronko!
Wait, I thought that was a Big Lavowsky sequel
How did Wilson get around that guy?
Seattle is going to try to score under 6 seconds
Tied game again.
Half time. 14 - 14
Bonzai!
woo!
once Katy P comes out, the TV will be off for a while.
I hear she's going to torture some animals for perverted entertainment.
Hey, that was a good domestic violence PSA - the 911 call for "pizza"... is there someone in the room with you?
Katy Perry -- beautiful and horrible at the same time.
I'm watching the UFC Ultimate Knockouts.
Just caught a couple of seconds of KP screaming.
Get that crap off of the field and then let's settle this thing.
Is the half time show over with?
yeap
Fr. Fox -
You mean you're not here at the stadium? I thought Lem sent tickets to all the commenters. It's been a great meetup.
When AllenS asked where you were, someone said you were down getting beers.
let the smoke clear.
They led with KP's "Teenage Dream"--a more evil and exploitative song/video would be hard to imagine. Rich people like Katy Perry can live that "dream," but ordinary teens who absorb that evil face hard lives as a result.
TV is off. Not suffering thru that nightmare.
mismatch
Colinsworth is having an orgasm
field goal
Seattle leads 17 to 14
better turn the TV back on.
So far the commercials have been mostly a CGI flashy quick cut bonanza.
Nothing worth looking at again.
Somebody cover Mathews.
We got to get a first down here
Brady picked a second time?
Wilson just cant be allowed to roam like that.
I'm not going to mention anyone's name, but someone is playing with deflated balls.
Seattle clearly has the momentum coming off half time.
Seattle will run away with it.
Best commercial so far was the Skittles commercial.
No substitute for the speed of youth.
At least one Chris Matthews is worth a damn.
Who Wikipedia themselves?
"let them sip their pumpkin peach ale"
lol. OK I will. I like apricot.
Costly penalty against NE
Is not a blowout yet. But NE needs to stop Seahawks here.
Finally a NE defender covers a player
4th quarter. Only 53 more commercials to go.
End of three
Seattle leads 24 - 14
More car commercials I've ever seen.
Doesn't look good. Seattle D living up to hype.
Running for that yard was a mistake.
Finally a second sack of Wilson
Brady yo!
NE must score on this possession.
Edelman
close to first... flag... first
NE turndown in the end zone.
NE running game not happening.
Brady cant just stand in the pocket. Good move for first
John:
LOL. I don't think I could afford a beer at the Superbowl. I'm guessing they're about $10 apiece.
Amandola! TD NE
TD!
NE 21 SE 24
They got a chance
PACKMAN I LIKED IT.
defense!
Lynch not going anywhere.
3 and out!
NE got a chance.
Good field position.
Brady... show some life buddy!
Punt. Now 3 or 4 more commercials.
I'm all commercialed out.
All these commercials are pissing me off.
Ha! me to Allen S
1st down.
Edelman eluded three blockers there. close to a first.
First down NE
Penalty nulled 1st down

NE has to score a TD here.
forward progress.
2nd and goal
TD Edelman!
DO WE GO FOR 2?
Seattle needs a TD.. plenty of time thou.
NE 28 SE 24
Four down territory for Seattle. Send the punter to the locker room.
DEFENSE!
3 AND OUT!
Big play on first down.
Wilson is good... what else can I say?
Every commercial is 1-2 million for NBC.
They're praying for OT.
He hasn't been intercepted... so it would be a miracle.
Lets see if NE Prevent Defense can actually prevent a TD.
I'm doubtful.
Almost picked!
oh shoot
poor Ne
It's fixed.
Wow - epic fail by Wilson
The miracle I called for!
The miracle I called for!
The miracle I called for!
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!!!!!!!
Plus thugged. I don't care for it anymore.
One of the better super bowls
Coach will be 2nd guessed. Why pass in the middle at this point?
UGLY ENDING
AN EJECTION
sad end to the game - stringing it out. NBC must have paid somebody off.
LIve by the miracle - die by the miracle
We Won!
I am thrilled I won't see Wilson praying!
IT'S OVER
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS ARE THE NFL CHAMPIONS.
It ain't over until it's over.
Sometimes cheaters win.
Good night, everyone.
Best last two minutes of a Super Bowl ever!
Wilson will be back - wait till next year.
Buenas Noches!
Fr Martin Fox said...Sometimes cheaters win.
But it was a Seahawk, #51, who was ejected from the game for losing his temper.
The Pats won fair and square.
Good night AllenS
Congrats, Lem!
Best last two minutes of a Super Bowl ever!
From elation to deflation and back to inflation again.
Thanks Chick
Thanks to the people that checked in.
Gronko Edelman
The Pats just lucked out. They weren't playing the Giants.
How many previous Super Bowl ejections have there been?
What a good game. And I was wrong again!
Wow! Surprise ending. Cinderella star. Plot twists with a double reverse......There may have been more dramatic games, but none with more melodrama.
Twitter is atwitter about the Nation Wide kid commercial.
They strung people along to like some kid and then they killed him.
Cruel.
Hands down worst commercial.
That must have aired in the first half which I missed. Surprised it was a knocked over TV and not a hand gun.
If tens of millions didn't have access to such large TV's to watch Super Bowls this would never happen.
_______________
Oh, I've been looking for an example of a Super Bowl ejection prior to today's game but haven't found one.
Buehler?
I was hoping someone here could help. The google search is impossible now because of tonight's incident.
I will make one prediction as a 45+ year occasional observer of professional football: this is just the beginning.
Please prove me wrong.
Throwing the ball when you only need a yard to win the game was one of the dumbest ideas ever.
From powers above, it was pay back time for the Seahawks beating the Pack on a trick play.
Don't ever try that again. LOSERS!
bah.
That was LEMtastic!
And Fr. Fox's comments were hilarious.
I wasn't planning to watch the SB, but I did anyway. What AllenS said about that last play by Carroll & Sea Hawks...WTF was he/they thinking. Irvin was the first.
