Four jackass congress persons

Raise their hands in misguided solidarity with Ferguson rioters. A football rush and gun-grabbing hand motion makes more sense. As far as sign language goes, this says the exact opposite of actual events. Had Michael Brown just done this he'd still be living.

The four race-baiting mal-invormed jackasses are:

Yvette Clarke (D-NY
Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY)
Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX)
Al Green (D-TX)

Texas, really?

Good grief. Their constituencies are other-worldly. Get your facts sorted, Stupids, then we might be able to have something resembling reasonable conversation. Until then, just piss off.

There is an effort to boycott St. Louis Rams football game for four players doing the same thing. Can that even happen? From what I know of football fans they're not going to let a little thing like that prevent them from attending any games.

Posers. Ridiculous posers. Got something to say then say it. Nonsense fail.

If Sheila Jackson Lee is involved, you know it's world class stupid.

Ferguson isn't just about one incident. It's about the everyday commonality of things like this, which is why blurred lines aren't as clear to everyone else as they are to you. But I digress. Happy Police State to you. And may your trust in absolute justice everywhere and equally for all never be shaken.

We make the mistake of thinking that way down deep there's a conscience in these creatures. But we're wrong. Like everything else conscience has to be taught. An infant doesn't have a conscience. Neither do they. Same principle. It's an infant. All is forgiven. The American black is an infant. Born to be carried by his oppressor. Not responsible for anything he does. And when there's no conscience the complete negation of truth, the big lie, can be broadcast with nary a qualm. There's no conscience to stop it.

The grand jury seems to have discounted the "hands up don't shoot" narrative.

For these congress persons to base their objections on a lie says everything I need to know about them.

Jackasses is putting it mildly.

How about poll Lem so we can select the aggregate IQ of these four Congress critters?

The Rams are 5 and 7. They got more pressing problems to worry about than a ridiculous phony made up cause.

Disgusting.
Race relations haven't been this bad since the sixties.

Lol. Great insight into the entire meaning of "white privilege" when a non-black person assumes U.S. race relations were better at any point before the 1960s. Like the 1850s. After that it was just all downhill, I guess.

Why are there no articles or comments about the death of Deandre Joshua?

Some feel they have a right, even a duty, to hurt or kill white people.

This might apply to the youths accused of bludgeoning that man in St. Louis. But watch, even if convicted of murder, in three or four years they'll just be counted as more black youths imprisoned for drug-related causes in an unjust nation. Black youths can do no wrong in the eyes of the left. The left is flirting with crossing the line from excusing property damage to excusing violent crime. Because, in their eyes, it's justified.

Ritmo, race riots are a clear indication that race relations are bad.

Really? Sure. Then they were bad when Northern towns had whites rioting against and killing blacks also, as occurred throughout the early 1800s, I suppose. But you didn't mention those when you said "the sixties".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lombard_Street_Riot

Now they're rioting for nothing. For bullshit…

You don't know me. Go to hell.

Ah… and you don't know what it's like to be shot first and asked questions later. But you judge people whose experiences, though clearly different from your own, you stubbornly refuse to even consider. Interesting way to ask for equal treatment, there -- judging others while demanding you not be judged.

Obamaphones…

Interesting name to give a program started in 1996. I guess it must sound more, colorful, than "Clintonphone". Or "Bushphone". But you didn't know that, did you?

If you don't want to be called out for going along with racist presumptions, don't run with them. The ignorant black lady in the video made for interesting fodder, I see. But repeating her folly makes you, what exactly? A poor, ignorant black woman?

And I didn't know Medicaid was a black program. But it's everyone else who's making things about race. Not you, right? You're above it, they're the ones instigating it.

It's always them. Always. Always other people.

They live in a police state because they are a barbarian culture.

But I am fine with pulling all cops out and leaving them on their own.

Three guesses what'll happen.

IOW, let innocent blacks suffer at the hands of brutal police-state agents because they aren't apprehending the black criminals effectively.

All this lumping.. sounds like an awful lot of identity politics to me.

I think black Americans have cultural problems that are exacerbated, most likely in the worst (least correctible) way, by affirmative action.

But I also think most white cops are more likely to act out more egregiously against an innocent or non-violent black youth.

I don't think we need to defend a police state to save whites or blacks from against whomever those agents feel like acting most suspiciously.

Multiple things can be true simultaneously.

Cops "pull out"? Are cops "pulling out" of white communities?

The police state mentality impacts white suspects also. Just not as disproportionately.

That disproportion can't be explained completely due to some "much" greater disparity in black criminal behavior.

The disproportionate treatment is much greater than would be warranted by any disproportionate suspicion. There is simply no reason to shoot at people who have their hands up.

Hardly ignorant.
She knew exactly where to get the dolla.

She was loud, the way "Obamaphone" and "dolla" are, rhetorically speaking, loud.

She associates assistance with Obama. Obviously it wasn't Obama's program. But what a great way to perpetuate a meme. Let her embarrassing loudmouth antics be the justification for painting all black presidents and all black assistance recipients with some alleged specificity of a program available to all poor regardless of race started under Clinton. (And a Republican House. Mostly white, IIRC).

I guess it's just flashier to go about it that way. Make it sound black.

Detroit is in decay because the American auto industry wrongly presumed to compete with foreign manufacturers by slashing quality for more than a decade before realizing that customers (and their profit margins) would respond to that poor quality negatively.

Every successful major city requires a distinct industry, large enough to justify the size of the city. Detroit's decline has to do with a depleted tax base as the Big Three prevented transit between the suburbs whites fled to and the urban core, which has significant black populations in all American cities. And yet, they recovered.

You're seeing race in an issue where it doesn't exist vis a vis Detroit. As the kid said in Sixth Sense, you see black people.

Detroit would still be beyond Thunderdome if it was white. Who cares about the population make-up? Decay and death are decay and death. They come to all people and all societies that eat their own. Color is a non-issue in that regard to all except those obsessed with it.

Shit, Ritmo, you know Michael Brown NEVER HAD HIS HANDS UP, don't you?

He was charging the cop. Charging him to kill him.

Shit. It must be great to have the one big story you need to retell the entire truth of these encounters from the end of time.

Paint yourself black and see if you get treated differently. Your comments seem to indicate not only that you would, but that you would deserve it - based on worsened perceptions that some blacks are responsible but that you think all blacks should bear the consequences of.

So which is it? Is more aggressive force warranted on account of color or isn't it? You seem to want to argue that both ways.

"Under the Obama administration the program exploded until the Obama phone program reached a annual cost of $1.25 billion all of which must be borrowed. The standards for qualification are so loose that one hardly needs to game the system. Anyone enrolled in WIC or Medicaid is automatically qualified. There is even a web site, freegovernmentcellphones.net to sign up if one thinks he or she has fallen through the cracks. Fine you say, but what about the single mother with five kids who have texted through their month's 250 minutes? No problem. Just order another Obama phone. It's not like anyone is keeping score. They make great Christmas gifts or they can be sold to friends to supplement your food stamp income. Congressman Tim Griffin of Arkansas says 6 cell phones for one individual are not uncommon, 40 phones is the record."

I don't know who you think is preventing blacks from entering police forces, esp in communities where they're pretty representative. But that's not where the brutality problems seem to be worst.

But again, you keep dodging whether you even think brutality should be checked in the first place, regardless of whom its perpetuated against.

I think that's for the sake of some, unmentionable/unexamined convenience.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

And there's no citation for the florid op-ed paragraph on Obamaphones.

Lo and behold, people find it more convenient to have multiple cell phone numbers than they do multiple land lines. So let's all pretend to be surprised when the explosion of cell towers/numbers and data is accompanied by cost overruns to an assistance program for them. And let's multiply that billion dollars by the thousand or more necessary to equal the deficit drivers of defense, Medicaid, etc., and all those other "non-issues".

IIRC, communities that strive to police themselves with people of that community or who relate to it or otherwise attempt to build positive connections within the community have more successful policing operations.

It's not a color thing. It's a question of building police forces that see the community as an asset to use in fighting crime versus fostering police operations that see the communities in which they operate, and as many people as possible, as potential enemies.

Being paranoid and anti-social doesn't exactly make for a quality cop.

That's an issue that cuts across color lines, but obviously is exacerbated among sociopathic cops and people with divisive attitudes.

Growing up, my dad knew many of the cops in my town. They came to him because he bought and sold SCUBA gear at the best prices, and many of them were into dving.

One night I was caught making out with a girl in a deserted parking spot in my dad's car. It wasn't in flagrante delicto. The flashlight-bearing cop recognized me and said I needed to get out of there. He recognized me and called me by name. The girl I was with was a bit freaked out afterwards "You know cops?"

We didn't last.

I was just rereading a longish essay called "The Black Temper" from 1967 and written by Hoyt W Fuller. It's a rich time capsule, capturing and reflecting upon much of the urban black unrest in the 1960's (prior to MLK's assassination of course and which changed many things).

The essay could have been written today. Choices phrases:

Commenting on the 1964 NYC riots:
..the always dangerous relationship between Negroes and the police, a relationship characterized by suspicion and fear on both sides, sparked by the incident which eventually flamed into riot.

Concerning Watts:
The rioters seem to have been caught up in an insensate rage of destruction.

Plus ca change and all that.

chickelit said...

It seems to me that whatever suspicion and fear that blacks feel today towards those entrusted to police society is mirrored by a suspicion that many non blacks feel towards those entrusted to police government - namely the press.

If I thought that an innocent black teen was targeted by police for no other reason than bald face racism - I'd be protesting too.

That is not what happened. The facts are that Brown committed robbery at that particular convenience store on a regular basis. Brown attempted to wrestle away a cops gun (illegal and dangerous no matter who you are!), assaulted an officer in the officer's own vehicle and then charged the officer, after repeated requests from the officer to obey the law.

Of course there are multiple reasons why most of the inner-city cores of practically every maj city east of the Miss. River are in severe decline, but there is one constant which almost ALL of them share: SEVENTY STRAIGHT YEARS OF CORRUPT CONTROL OF CITY HALL AND THE SCHOOL BOARD BY DEMOCRATS! The first half by, in the main, white democrats, the second by black democrats. It's not a racial thing, it's the application of a FAILED POLITICAL IDEOLOGY over seventy years. Real simple, Ritmo..

Slightly OT...but this morning I was listening to several Republican Congresspersons pontificate on how to "defund" the recent absurd executive order (not exactly an EO, but why bother with details?).

It was profound demonstration of how little Congress really knows now, after 6 years of no formal annual budget, how Continuing Resolutions work, let alone how green cards are funded.

Suffice it to say: No matter what "defunding" measures Congress tries to put into the next CR, it will not stop the funding of the quasi-EO. Why? Because under a CR the Executive Branch can move money around almost any way they please (funding levels based upon prior period funding levels and expenditures)...that is the profound foolishness of operating for half a decade on CR's. Maybe you have to have worked in government to notice this facet of CR's.

I have done so and this posturing is pure nonsense of the barnyard feces kind. If Congress wants to force funding discipline, then pass a budget on time for 2016...e.b., submissions are in February (I prepared my Army office's submission to the composite every year by February's end) of the prior year and debate begins in April. No reason it can't be in place by 01 Oct 2015. The only reason it hasn't happened for some time is because too many folks, in Congress and the Executive Branch, like the CR fog. It is less well understood now than "Earmarks", which themselves are not understood and blanket cursed when they actually do force some discipline in many cases.

The problem as I see it is that both parties focus on yesterday and ignore tomorrow...thus little changes. However, I am an old curmudgeon with a bad attitude and the experience to generate it :-)

If Virgil Xenophon thinks that schools were doing any better for children prior to 1929 he has to convince us to forget the fact that before that it wasn't compulsory anyway. So yeah, those kick-ass schools of the 1920s and prior were really great at educating the kids who weren't forced into them in the first place. But CAPS-LOCK he will to make the failure of compulsory education (regardless of how it's run) to achieve universally stellar outcomes a political thing.
