"IRS says it has lost emails from 5 more employees"

"The tax agency said in June that it could not locate an untold number of emails to and from Lois Lerner, who headed the IRS division that processes applications for tax-exempt status. The revelation set off a new round of investigations and congressional hearings."
On Friday, the IRS said it has also lost emails from five other employees related to the probe, including two agents who worked in a Cincinnati office processing applications for tax-exempt status.

The agency blamed computer crashes for the lost emails. In a statement, the IRS said it found no evidence that anyone deliberately destroyed evidence.

I've been in business for three decades and most of that time we used computers. For most of the last 2 decades we have used email on dozens and dozens of computers. We had a few crashes - maybe 2 in all that time, but we never lost a single email, and we weren't even particularly trying to save them.

At the very least, people should be fired at the IRS, and something like this should cost people like Learner her pension.

That's another goddamned thing - public worker pensions! The cost of them is ruining local, state, and federal budgets all across the country and we are getting nothing but crap for it. They are bankrupting us, and have created a society where the government does little else but fund pensions at all costs. Potholes don't get filled, aging infrastructure that we once had the ability build and pay for now can't even be maintained. I have no pension. I don't know anyone who does outside of public workers. All the rest of us are being robbed of our retirements to pay for theirs in addition to having to live with crappy infrastructure, schools, policing, etc. It's freaking immoral, and it's ubiquitous. We are being robbed so a few people, who mostly do their jobs poorly and can't be fired, can vacation on our tab for the last 3 decades of their life. I truly hate this system, and don't understand how it survives the voting public demanding better.

Yep. The public worker pension scheme is criminal, and people keep voting for more.
