"LiveLeak bans future ISIS beheading videos"

"We will not be showing further beheadings carried out by ISIS."
"We've shown the world the true horror of this form of execution more than once in the past and we cannot find any compelling reason to even be thought of as promoting the actions of this group," LiveLeak said in a statement.

"There is no reason at all to show more beheadings," they added. (read more)
What do you think? Should there be a site where this material is available? or do you agree, that it serves no purpose other than propaganda for ISIS.

This is a rare instance, that I've seen, of a company putting a principle ahead of profit.

It's commendable... unless I'm missing something.

Damned nice of them, if a little late.

The creepy part is not the showing but the posting of such an atrocity. They do such things to attract recruits and improve their image. They really are The Other.

YouTube pulled it after 20 minutes. If people would agree to not host hostage-murder videos then perhaps that would cut down on the hostage-murder videos.

The propaganda value cuts both ways. It attracts assholes to the cause but it repels and disgusts everyone else. On balance, it's probably worse for the beheaders. Woke a lot of people up to the nature of what these people are really all about. On the other other hand, that could be done with just the picture of James Foley. So I'm in favor of the ban.

Banning the videos is a good start.

Next, LiveLeak should ban the beheadings.

Next step: ban the beheadouins. And by "ban" I mean drop devastating MOABs all over them.

If it is publicity, I don't know that it's necessarily good publicity.

I've been lecturing Brits lately on the way their speech restrictions have probably only fueled this crap. So I'm inclined to disagree with media bans. OTOH, if it's all voluntary, then tough shit for Jihad Joe.

But I did think the "sawing" action across the neck with a short blade really did illustrate how barbaric these thugs are. Other than that, I'd give the production about a 5.7. Kind of like a behind-the-scenes look at an extra on the set of Lawrence of Arabia who could only go to war against the Ottomans with kitchen utensils.

Yeah no government ban. Choice of individual hosting sites
