Joe Cocker is the man!

Trooper York said...

His Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour was just about the best rock and roll show I was ever at.

Of course I am old.

The alternative lyrics are hilarious.

Troop, you would look good with Joe Cocker hair and his stage antics though.

I am not sure your heart could take it!

Trooper York said...

Well my wife tells me I dance like Joe Cocker.

Does that count?

The Dude said...

Those lyrics are much clearer now. But other than that, it is precisely how I remember it being.

*gotta get my wonder - hey wait - what did he say?*

Lem are you taking a bus ride?

Do they want to integrate a liquor store in the suburbs?

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, amended in 2008, is one of the most decent things the federal government has ever done.

"Let the shameful wall of exclusion finally come tumbling down."

Joe Cocker and his wife are living in Crawford, a very small, rural, non-resort town in Colorado. They owned a cafe there, and Mrs H and I stopped for lunch a few summers ago when we were motorcycling in Colorado.

He was gone that day. The locals said that he's a good guy, very happy and humble. His wife is from the area and she drug him there to get healthy and kick drugs. He puts on a show a couple of times each year to raise money for local causes.

He sold the cafe, we recently learned, but still lives in Crawford.

If you check YouTube for his Chain of Fools video, you'll get a glimpse if his cafe. The video was taped there.

And we all get by with a little help from our friends.

Joe Cocker is the greatest spastic of all time!

This will make a dent with Troop.

There's an item Martha Hyer died today. She was 90.

What's interesting is Mona Freeman died just a couple of days ago.

Bus ride home yes.

I used to gaze at those Miss Subways with longing when I was young and rode the horrible subway, may those days never return. They were mainly beautiful Irish lassies. Nowadays I don't think a white is allowed to enter the competition, nevermind win. Different temps different mores.

ricpic said...

Autres temps, autres moeurs.

See, I'm smart. Me and Fredo.

Belushi and Cocker side by side is a hoot. How many rockers have the ego to allow that?

Meade said...

Lem, you know if you're ever down and troubled and you need a helping hand, all you have to do is email and I'll be there.

You've got a friend.

ndspinelli said...

Trooper, When is the last time you danced?

XRay said...

This is a test, right?

I saw Joe and 'can't remember now' in Chapel Hill around 1971, he was great. Though he was just the opener. I was expecting his lungs to appear on the stage at any moment. Leaving his body for a more full throated expression, or something.

Friendship=tenderness=gas chamber.

Why don't you all see?

I know an eye doctor and he works out things with folks based on need.

That fuck McCain wouldn't have been accepted to the Academy had his daddy not pulled strings.

Whatever man, NO DOUBT greater than McCain, who got screwed out of his due honor via meritocracy suffered more than the Crack MC with regards to opportunity cost, forsaken alone.

This corruption happened a long, long time ago.

As it feeds the appetite grows per the bible.

I have a copy of the Great Wave (off Kanagawa) by Hokusai.

It's printed on heavy raw cotton and it is sewn to fit a bamboo pole to be used as a divider instead of a door between kitchen and dining room or a Japanese restaurant.

I used mine to section off a doorless pantry three apartments ago.

I saw it just yesterday folded in a box while taking things from storage to the truck for Goodwill. It's one of the few things I decided to keep with no immediate use in mind. Because I love it so.

You see, the original is quite famous as you know. Part of a series about Mt. Fuji. It is the most famous of a set, thirty-six views of Mt. Fuji. You will notice the mountain in the background.

Psych!

No really. The mountain looks like one of the waves. It is easily overlooked.

I do love it so. I could not part with it.

Such is the problem with us hoarders. We feel a love connection with every doggone little thing even though we have no use for them and they clutter our lives. It's an emotional thing. Psychology cannot help us hoarders. We're hopeless.

That does it. It's going to Goodwill with the rest of the crap.

No it's not.

Yes it is.

No it's not.

See? It's a problem.

Reach out,

I'll be there.

XRay said...

As described, keep it, Chip. A larger apartment or a smaller storage space, but don't deplete your life of your life.

deborah said...

Chip, today I found two copies of this, one for me, one for my daughter:

book

At Christmastime they were $20-25, can't remember. Today the last two copies were marked $5 and $10. They sold them both for $5.

As far as donating, occasionally I've anguished over whether to donate something, only to regret later on that I donated it. Only to find I hadn't.

I'm not a hoarder, but I seem to make the right decisions as to what I will miss later.

XRay said...

We miss everything, on our death bed, I'm guessing. So later only goes so far.

deborah said...

X, don't go wobbly :)

Only orbit I know.

Except for the parts that weren't, meade.

Jesus. You never do care about people who might have something to say, some insight to offer.

Man, what the hell was I thinking a decade ago? To think, then.

That's why it was amended.

No es bueno saber
que tienes un amigo?

Cuando la gente
puede ser tan fría
Te lastimarán
y te abandonarán
Y se llevarán
tu alma si los dejas
Oh, pero no los dejes.

Meade said...

Cuando estés triste
y preocupado

Y necesites algo
de cuidado amoroso
Y nada, nada esté bien

Cierra tus ojos
y piensa en mí

Y pronto estaré ahí

Para iluminar incluso
tu noche más obscura

Tu solo email mi nombre

Y tu sabes que
donde sea que esté

Vendré corriendo
a verte otra vez

Invierno, primavera,
verano o otoño

Todo lo que tienes
que hacer es llamar

Y estaré ahí

Tienes un amigo

Si el cielo sobre ti
Se hace más oscuro
y se llena de nubes

Y ese viejo viento del
norte empieza a soplar

Mantén la calma
Y llámame en voz alta

Pronto me escucharás
golpeando a tu puerta

Tu solo grita mi nombre

Y tu sabes que
donde sea que esté

Vendré corriendo
a verte otra vez

Invierno, primavera,
verano o otoño

Todo lo que tienes
que hacer es llamar

Y estaré ahí

¿Hey, no es bueno saber
que tienes un amigo?

Cuando la gente

y te abandonarán

Y se llevarán
tu alma si los dejas
