Martin Treptow's journal

Fathers, thank you.

Thank you for your service to our country. Thank you for your service to your families. Thank you for sticking it out.

Mums too, of course, but today is Father's Day.

Is that eagle at the front awesome or what?

Compare and contrast with the type speech delivered today by our country's leader. Linked by the single word "mocks," NYT Obama Commencement speech.

Mock lawmakers who deny climate change. How impossibly vapid As if. How perfectly straw man, how perfectly switching of terms. How perfectly fallacious. Then roars off on taxpayer dime leaving the most giant carbon footprint on Earth, in history, to J.P. Getty's granddaughter's resort home to fundraise again and to play golf again. That is our cynical community activist president -- a very small man. A minuscule man. A non-man.

Speaking of ass wipes, I heard the funniest thing. Black female comedians were having a night. Some of them were talking about wanting a big butt. One woman switched and said another woman was discussing with her wishing her bust could get bigger. The comedian's advice ended, "If all that doesn't work, then take some toilet paper and stick it in the crack between your breasts."

"How is that going to help me have bigger breasts?"

"I don't know, but it did wonders for that ass of yours."

Thank you Chip for this post.

You know... twitter is atwitter with gruesome photos of what is going on in Iraq. Despite my own personal political disagreements with our current president, notwithstanding... I wish not to play our failures so much? Same with the "unaccompanied children" at the border disaster created by this administration.

I'm not telling anybody here what to highlight nor what to focus on... but, speaking for myself, I'm going to let others bring up the killings, maiming's raping and pillaging... I don't know if I'm making myself understood.

And, also, at the same time, that is not to say I may not wake up tomorrow feeling so outraged by something, I'm not going to bring it up. I may change my mind.

For now, though, what I'm saying is... Obama is soiling our nation everyday he is in office... but, at the same time, we should remind ourselves, we should comfort ourselves with the knowledge that he is not going to be there too much longer.

We just need to hold on, keep it together, don't despair.

end of rant.

@Chip/

My Father was a decorated Inf Company Commander in the 242nd Regiment, 42nd Rainbow Div in WWW II. (And FWIW, FYI Gen Douglas MacArthur was a Colonel in the 42nd in WW I and was awarded six Silver Stars..)
