Filled out and ready to file. Just got to pull out the credit card and hit the button.

Owe some money. The transition to retired status changes things in ways I hadn't foreseen.

Nice.

I keep looking for the place to put my race, my hair color, eye color, height, dick size length/girth, shoe size. sexual orientation, state of health its own separate section, and most importantly of all: Party affiliation.

I just want to cry. So much money - gone, and to whom, and for what? It's acutely painful and depressing.
It's not so painful that they take so much (enough to significantly change the lives of many people around me every single year), but that it is so poorly used, often to the serious detriment of my fellow citizens and their country, as well as the great ideas it represents.

Even though I think taxation beyond the minimum necessary is basically immoral, I would be fine with the mind-numbing amount I pay if it was only used responsibly and to good purpose. I don't believe even half of it goes to good purpose, and much of it is used against me and my interests, and even used in ways that prevents me from helping others. It's criminal, and I'm deeply offended by it.

On the plus side, I suppose paying a lot of tax is at least proof of some level of success, and I can't say I'd rather have less of that.

Coincidentally, although it has not been publicly announced yet, I have been informed by the Small Business Administration and the L.A. Chamber of Commerce that I have been selected as Small Business Person of the Year for all of Los Angeles County (10 million people) Woohoo!

The more you know me, the more implausible that seems. Although I knew I was nominated, I'm completely dumbfounded that they picked me, but that's what the letter said. From college dropout, homeless, lost and aimless to this. Only in America!

Amen to that.

What's a hundred billion here and a few billions over there? Shovel ready and all that? Our roads and schools are crumbling and it's never enough.

Congratulations BagOh! I just hope it doesn't mean you're the LAST small business standing in SoCal...

Good for you, Bags.

Thanks guys, but although I get the glory, my people are the real success stories. Incredible dedication, loyalty, and effort. I'm just the luckiest dude short of Barack Obama himself.
