"The legend of the waiting list for Packers season tickets in Green Bay has grown over the years. Newborns get put on the list, with parents hoping some day their offspring hits the top of the list."
Green Bay, as of Wednesday morning, was about 8,500 tickets short of a sellout, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Tom Silverstein. If the Packers don't sell out by 3:40 p.m. Thursday, the game will be blacked out on local TV from Green Bay to Milwaukee. That's almost inconceivable. The Press-Gazette said the Packers have sold out every regular-season game since 1959 (a playoff game in January of 1983, at the end of the strike-shortened season, did not). And yet they are having troubles selling out a playoff game a week after Aaron Rodgers returned from injury to beat the Bears for the NFC North title. What's going on in Wisconsin? Where are the fans? EBL asks if the league has gauged the fans a wee bit too much.

This happens whenever there is a playoff game in Green Bay. The locals wait for a big company to buy up the tickets and either sell them at a discount or give them away. No biggie.
The game day temperatures are predicted to be -15F, plus wind chill. Quite a few fans, especially those who are older, cannot tolerate that weather, so ticket sales are slow.
Perhaps Packer fans are alarmed that their gaydar is buzzing?
No problem here in Philly selling out for the Iggles playoff game- of course it has been a 3-4 year drought since the Iggles made the playoffs.
They can't sell the tickets because they know the Fudge Packers will be out in the first round.
Professional sports is no longer about the fans at the game. They are extras. It is about the TV.
It has long been the case but even more in the last ten years. With seat licenses and the unbelievable increase in ticket prices the regular fan is priced out of the game.
Maybe the Packers could do a big promotion or something.
I remember when the White Sox did the "I Hate Disco Night."
Yeah that's the ticket.
Anyone have a prediction...will the game will be blacked out?
I hate obama care night.
Good one Lem!
And Deborah, I predict none of the games will be blacked out.
It won't be "blacked out."
Wrong oppressed minority.
It will simply be fabulous!
It has been fucking cold here. -18ยบ this morning. All of December has been brutally cold. We had only two days that got above freezing. That's the only reason that I can think of.
Now I think about it, AJ and Troop, you're correct. It would be a black eye on the NFL.
(To have a stadium full of empty seats.)
Actually it might be appropriate to call it a "Brown eye" for the NFL.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Unless you're that Duck guy. Just sayn'
If slow ticket sales means there'll be fewer vuvuzelas then I say it's a good thing.
It's been about 10-12 years since I was at a winter Packer game. It was really cold then, but being 10-12 years younger really is a big deal.
I had season tickets to the New York Giants in the 1980's and 1990's but I had to give them up.
Attending sporting events is a young mans game as AllenS attests. Too many drunks. Too many fights. To much bullshit.
It is the NFl's fault. And MLB.
Never seen a fight at a Packers game. Used to try and attend Packers vs Vikings games. Car loads of us and about 3 places on the way that we would stop and have some beverages. The Viking fans stopped at the same places, and they stayed at the same hotels/motels we did. Everyone got along great. Too bad I got old.
There was a bar/bowling alley in Abbottsford that we stopped at that served huge warm roast beef sandwichs. Mmmmmmmmmmm Mmmmmmmmmm Good.
That's because you guys don't play the Eagles twice a year.
Eagles fans are total assholes.
The worst fans in all of sports.
(Sorry AJ)
Fixed. Thanks pollo
Too expensive to go to the games, the economy probably still sucks in these places, and why go to a game if you can sit home and watch it on a big-screen high-def TV with surround sound? The beer is cheaper, the bathrooms cleaner (hopefully) and the lines shorter. Plus you don't have to drive and park and all that other bullshit. And if you live close enough to the stadium to walk, you're close enough to hear it without bothering to go. Going to the games is for suckers and people using corporate accounts to pay for the seats.
And really, who wants to go out in the cold, except for people with mental disorders? Hell, it's going to go from the 80s to the 40s tonight, and I'm considering getting out my parka - for sitting indoors. Going to these games, even the indoor game in Indy (you gotta go outside to get there), is fucking nuts.
Move the Green Bay game to the location where it should be played: Candlestick Park.
More fans. Less snow.
Thank you thank you. Thank you people. I'm glad you like the show. (boooooooooooo.)
I'm waiting for the day when the NFL changes its playoff seeding arrangement. Winning your division means you get to play in the post season. If you want a home game you should have to earn it, not be gifted by being in some shitty division (NFC East) or another (NFC North)*.
* These are just the crappy divisions this year. They move around. I seem to remember Cleveland making the playoffs about 25 years ago with an 8-8 record because the old AFC Central, with its then meager four teams, just sucked farts straight out of Thai lady-boy asses. (And if Chris Kluwe happens to read this, yes, there is something totally wrong with that.)

There were pictures posted on Prodigy at the time, proving it.
I assume you are kidding with me Trooper since you have been up close to many Mets and Yankees fans.
Madison Pajama Boys just aren't going to be caught dead at a Packer game. Football is just too violent and needs to go away, in their eyes. That and deer hunting.
Thanks for the link Lem.
I am pretty sure the bitter cold weather combined with shitty seats over $100 lends itself to slow sales.
I'm about 200 miles west of Green Bay and a little bit more north, and right now it's -4ยบ. High temp today is going to be 18ยบ.
Sunday. Are you ready for this? High temp for Sunday will be -12ยบ. Sunday night -29ยบ.
I can't remember when we had such cold weather for so long. Bummer.
If you own an ice breaker, don't take it out. You'll never make it home.
I checked the weather forecast for Green Bay. Sunday night temps will be -20, and that's before wind chill. Expect wind chills to be in the -30 to -35 area.
IMO, that's too cold for an outdoor football game. There will be frostbite injuries to players feet, hands, and faces. The game should be postponed for a day.
The show must go on. Most football players, probably from both sides won't have even have sleeves. Bare arms.
Haz, from the forecast I saw Monday's temps will be even colder.
Allen, I heard Jordy Nelson on the radio yesterday, and he said he is planning on wearing sleeves. (He usually doesn't.) There's one thing being a tough guy when the temps are in the 20s. But that's stupid when the temps get into the single digits or lower.
Lambeau field will still be half full no matter what.
Celebrate that instead.
It will be way more than half full.
Back when I bet on the games, I remember watching the pre-game show and Air Coryell was visiting the Bengals in the playoffs for a 1PM EST game and the wind chill was about minus 15 degrees. Durng the warmups most of the Charger stars like Keen Winslow, Charlie Joyner were freezing and had their hands shoved down their pants. I ran to the phone and made a winning bet on the Bengals who kicked the crap out of Dan Fouts and company.
