A walker. Must have been a hard chase, those things really move.

If he had a dog with him, they would have shot it too.

The only thing American cops like to shoot more than people is dogs.

Port Authority cops.

They also winged a couple of passersby.

"Gunfire ensued and two bystanders were hit. They were taken to a hospital for treatment"

You can always count on LA Times to give you a complete story.

"Gunfire ensued" reminds me of the typical Newspaper headline "Man run over by SUV" which reminds of the movie "Kill-dozer" I saw as a Kid.

I'm glad the cops didn't shoot my dog when they showed up to shut off an alarm that was ringing.

Came back from the movies and there was note on the counter:

Everything looks ok. Dog wouldn't come back in.

She stayed right there but wouldn't trust them with the door. And was so happy when I got home. All those strangers roaming around with no introduction and the bell ringing the whole time.

There's probably money to be made up-armoring those stainless steel, street vendor trailers.

Killdozer was a great movie.

Drudge has the full story up (New York Post). Deranged black man without a weapon terrorizing people a block from Times Square. He got tazered.

Two women bystanders were shot by the cops, who were aiming at the crazy man, but missed. The 54 year old lady with the walker had her tibia shattered.

But they're cops so its her fault. Shoulda killed her for 'interfering with an arrest'. Shuffle faster, cripple!

Where is Nanny Bloomberg to take away those cops guns?

Palladian, Radley Balko has at least a story a week on cops shooting dogs.

I don't tweet, and I don't get the attraction. That crap is unreadable nonsense. It's like someone with bad hearing taking dictation at a boring cocktail party.

I can't say or read "cocktail party" without it coming out in the voice of Mick Jagger.

Opps!

Even Barney Frank would not do this.

Don't be fooled into thinking that the police or sheriffs are actually here to help YOU. Or another emphasis ....Here to HELP you.

From the New York Post article:

Khoshakhlagh was taken to Roosevelt Hospital. Kelly visited her, too, prior to her release at 1:15 Sunday morning.
She left Roosevelt on foot, still wearing a hospital gown.
She left accompanied by a cop, a man in a suit, and a third man in casual clothes. When a reporter asked her to describe what happened, she was ordered not to speak by the man in the suit.

Khoshakhlagh is one of the women who was shot. Kelly is the police commissioner. I wonder who the man in the suit is? Lawyer?

The funniest description of Twitter I've yet read.

I wouldn't want to be shot by the cops either, but both injuries seem non-life threatening. They'll recover and then become millionaires. Good for them.

Imagine lifting a plastic grocery bag with two two-liter Cokes in it, with one finger. That's the trigger pull required for the specially ordered NYPD issued police pistols—12 lbs—about twice as much as a normal pistol of that type. Now imagine if you can hit what you are aiming at while you are squeezing the trigger that hard. The obvious conclusion to jump to, is not always the most accurate.

In my mind, this is not an example of incompetent policemen, but rather an example of incompetent decision making at the higher levels.

As a consultant, I once advised someone to increase the lighting in an industrial area to improve safety. The boss said “No, we'll just order the workers to look harder and be more careful.”

NYPD bosses, “We'll just order the Cops to shoot straighter—after a proper investigation, of course.”
