I have no words for this.

Reports indicate President Obama will soon confirm what many of us have long suspected, that Congress wants and will soon have a waiver from Obamacare.
You read that right.
Read more at the Daily Caller.  Be sure to have some bourbon handy.  And perhaps the toad venom, if you saved any from a couple of weeks ago.

We will have to see OPM’s official statement to know for sure. But in the meantime, we know this: the special exemption for Congress comes at Congress’s own request.

Would it not be amazing if this went to the Supreme Court and they smacked down Congress?

Already been to the Supreme Court. They smacked down the American people.

But what would you expect from the Feds?

john said...

Maybe Obama will issue an executive order retroactively forbidding congress from making waivers. Saying that since the law got his name on it, he makes the rules.

Wouldn't that be a kick.

I'm sure that there's some commenters here that think Obamacare is a gift to mankind. How about some feedback.

I have a word for it: "clusterfuck"

The signature accomplishment of the Stuttering Clusterfuck of a Miserable Failure who every idiot in the country voted for because they were so smart and good and sophisticated and liberal, but too retarded to think it important to vet someone for the most important job in the world, just so long as his skin is the right color, and his pants are pressed, even if he knows absolutely nothing about the job.

Will this reduce the need for hiring the entire 11,000 new IRS agents to enforce Obamacare? Maybe we'll need only 10,000.

Just lookin' for a bit of silver lining here.

We knew this last week.

So much for the Demos being the Guardians of the Poor and Downtrodden.

It just makes the gap between the Ruling Class and everybody else that much more noticeable.

And these things always have consequences.

Not without a fight, Lem.

You wanna turn belly up, go ahead. The rest of us (well, some of the rest of us) will keep working on saving the shit.

No, we've been here before and that's when the Republic began.

This is just starting and I think the Lefties will come to rue the day they ever heard the name, Barack Hussein Obama.

Don't worry. Boehner, et al. will put on a show of crying that it is unfair, then in the next breath they will demand that Republicans vote to continue funding for ObamaCare, just as the Republicans have voted for ObamaCare funding for the last two years.

Same with SarBox, Dodd-Fwank, all the EPA regs.

That's the reality they're missing.

Corruption That Works only works when the streets are cleared, the garbage is picked up, the hoodla are kept in line, and people can make a living.

Just as Chi-town is dying under Tippytoes, the rest of the country is being put in a position where it can't go on indefinitely.

It seems fair to me if it was only the Republicans who all voted against it, got a waver. Then everybody else gets one too except, Democrats, union members, and Obama donors. That would be true fairness and justice.

Amen to that.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Demos are at this pass because they haven't gotten anything right since Pelosi took over Congress and the Choom Gang took over the White House?

Why think they'll suddenly develop an attack of competence?

Of course not. They NEVER had to pay for their own health care, right? Why wouldn't they vote themselves something just for themselves.

That's not an indictment of Obamacare that I can see. That's an indictment of Congress.

A constitutional amendment is needed. "Congress shall be subject to all laws it passes."

And now that summer recess has started and members of Congress are in their districts, jam their town hall meetings to voice complaints about their self-exemption from ObamaCare.

Agreed with this--even though I am a person who wants to see Obamacare die in a fire.

Part of the problem with Obamacare is that this crony bullshit is baked in the cake. But Congress didn't have to jump into the trough so gleefully and apparently unapologetically.

But, edutcher's optimism notwithstnding, no one will give a shit. "People are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed" and all that jazz.

Let's hear it for Senator Grassley -- from the WSJ back in April:

...this story goes back to 2009, when Democrats who passed ObamaCare tried repeatedly to exempt themselves or their key aides. Their problem was Senator Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa), who for years has maintained the heretical belief that politicians ought to obey the laws they write for everyone else. In 1995, he sponsored the Congressional Accountability Act, which for the first time applied to Congress various civil rights, employment and labor laws that the politicians had imposed on the rest of the country.

In September 2009, Mr. Grassley thought he had succeeded in doing the same for health care when the Senate Finance Committee approved his amendment to require Members of Congress and staff to obtain insurance via the new ObamaCare exchanges. But when Mr. Reid brought the bill to the floor that December, its language had mysteriously changed to exempt those Congressional aides who work for committees and party leaders.

In March 2010 Mr. Grassley tried again to apply the law to all Congressional personnel and to White House officials. His amendment received every Republican vote but it was defeated with 55 Democrats (plus Socialist Bernie Sanders) voting no. However, thanks to Mr. Grassley's earlier success, the law still covered Members of Congress and some of their aides—hence their latest effort to wiggle out of the ObamaCare mandates.

Sorry, but that makes no sense. Congressmen (people who represent us, and supposedly our interests) chose to pass a law they which they clearly think sucks to live under. If the law was good for people following it, they wouldn't want out of it. That means the Congress AND the law are bad.

JAL said...

Where can we find a complete list of everyone who has been given a waiver?

Joe Schmoe said...

This isn't shocking. They've been talking about this for months now. Remember how the Congresscritters were whining about how onerous health care costs would lead to "brain drain" as aides left for greener pastures? As if the private sector is waiting with baited breath to hire some progressive tool who worked for Harry Reid.

Contempt is the nicest feeling I have for them. The Jacobins have orchestrated a complete takeover.

WWIII Joe Biden, Husk-Puppet + America's Putin said...

How's that shoved it down the throat of America, in the dead of night, on party line vote working out of ya?

Oh yeah- Obamacare is a disaster for the American people, esp those who are responsible and understand basic math and economics. By all means make sure Nancy Pelosi and her band of crazed radical leftwing idiots don't have to suffer under the weight of it.

Joe Schmoe said...

I can't wait to see if Massachusetts gets a waiver. They claim they already have comprehensive, state-mandated healthcare, so they want out of Obamacare. They've seen the numbers on higher premiums, and they don't want it.

Joe Schmoe said...

Now we also see the end game for Obama's endless campaign. His Organizing for Action non-profit group is holding Obamacare promotional/educational events around the country. This goes to the left's belief that the left has no bad ideas, but their ideas merely get misconstrued or not messaged properly. It's not a bad law; it's just misunderstood. And now Barry's endless campaign is going to endlessly campaign all the bad laws on his behalf in an attempt to burnish his historical cred. They don't give a shit about helping people because they are immune to real, data-based feedback on their bad laws.
