On Foxes & Chum

Checking in over at The Gateway Pundit is always an ordeal for me, as I can't stand the chumbox ads they like to use to inspire their readers to buy a subscription in order to avoid them  Even though I know they're chumming for me, I still have a hard time ignoring them and feel disgust and disappointment in the people who run the site for using them.  Whenever my eye lands on one, even for the briefest of glances, a "What the heck is THAT??"  reaction takes place.   And when I see something that looks like potato eyes presented as human skin growth, I'm hooked, with dubiousness and a second look sure to follow.

Something similar happens when I read some of the articles they present, with their take on the news of the day often leaving me on the verge of going with intrigue or doubt, wondering what's real and what isn't.  Today, however, I followed a link found in one of their posts, to The Vigilant Fox, a Substack started by someone who worked in health care before and during Covid, saw what was happening, and couldn't stay silent.  That Fox now claims over 2 million social media followers.  And it was his most recent post, entitled "RFK Jr. Unloads Disturbing Vaccine Secrets on Tucker—And Surprises Everyone on Trump",  that The Gateway Pundit had republished today.  I found it fascinating, well worth the trip over to discover something of interest and value amid the chum.

I was also impressed to read about the growth and outreach The Vigilant Fox managed to achieve after being banned three times from Twitter, and then going from 45,000 followers to 1.7 million on X in the two and a half years since Musk reinstated him.  It was once again surprising and heartening to realize the difference one ticked off and inspired person is able to make as light in the darkness.

All may be true, but credit to Gateway for going from wishful thinking to good reporting. Most of their stuff is true.
