On Then & Now

The Branco cartoon above on "What if...?" was published 8 years ago, at the start of 2016, after Trump defeated Hillary to enter his first term in office as President.  After all that's transpired since then, with Trump now on the verge of his second inauguration and Biden and his team in their final hours of salting and medaling/meddling where they still can, we're reach a point where purpose and difference can clearly be seen to matter.

Edutcher, In line with your comment on the "Decency, Decency, Decency..." post was this from Vodkapundit today:

"I look at Biden and am reminded of one of the most tragic and enduring moments in movie history. It's courtesy of Marlon Brando as failed boxer Terry Malloy in Elia Kazan's "On the Waterfront." After witnessing the murder of a fellow longshoreman by a local mobster, Terry is forcefully reminded by his brother Charlie (Rod Steiger) to keep his mouth shut. It's at that moment that Terry realizes he threw his life away when he was throwing fights for the Mob.

You can almost hear Biden mumble, "I coulda beat Trump. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am."

But only almost.

I don't know which is sadder, Terry's realization that he's a bum or Biden losing what's left of his mind before he has his own Come-to-Jesus moment."

He lost his mind a long time ago. That's the difference. The only thing keeping him going was ego.

What's interesting to me is how the hand of God surely guided events. World outrage over the NY railroading, failed assassination, the band of brothers (and sisters), and, most significantly, the apocalypse of the Left.

Not only the failing of Brandon, but the imminent failure of Willie, Cocaine Mitch, Pelosi Galore, and several other important lights in the Democrat party.

Maui was bad enough, but NC and now CA have shown the country the absolute depth of the Demos' attempts to order affairs. DIE, money for illegals but not Americans, incompetence, arrogance, the complete lack of empathy.

Nero is going to have to shove over and, of course, Brandon (more likely one of the body doubles) in the wake of thousands of families' dreams of a better life in Southern California going back 80 years destroyed in front of their eyes, encapsulates it saying, "The good news is I'm a great grandpa".

"I coulda been somebody." That's the difference. Like him or not Trump already was somebody.
