A light in the darkness

When I was about 8 or so, my dad had a heart attack. Not his first, but serious enough for my aunt and grandma to come down from North Jersey. Dad and I never really got along; it was just one of those things. He always wanted me to be like him. I was always going my own way. A lot of friction over the years. Toss in the fact he was a drunk and life wasn't good a lot of the time.

I really didn't get the whole in the hospital thing. I saw the little dixie cups they used to give pills in and thought it was kind of cool, but mostly the hospital was a big, cold place where you just laid there being sick.

Since I was in school, we didn't go see him every day although having my aunt and grandma there meant we ate out a lot more. That I really liked.

Come Christmas Eve, Mom decided to go see Dad once more - me, my sister, my aunt and grandma. I never really knew how well he was doing, but, at that time, it seemed he wasn't doing too well and everybody was down.

After we left the hospital, Mom drove around a little, looking at all the lights, I guess trying to lighten the mood.

It was when we got home that things changed. My Uncle Bill and Uncle Alec had not only set up the trains (we had a modest set), but they really went to town. They'd set up some 4 x 8 plywood boards so the train ran around behind the Christmas tree. Somebody had added to our rolling stock with one of those boxcars where the man came out when you pushed the button and a searchlight car and one of those little tunnels that lit up when the train ran through.

I forget exactly when Mom mentioned my uncles had done this while we were out, but I was mightily impressed and, for your typically goofy 8 year old, the sight of that searchlight twirling around lit up the gloom for everybody and I got the reality of what had happened.

Nobody made them do that. They did it out of the goodness of their hearts. I go a little overboard at Christmas because it's a way of remembering what happened. Blondie gets a little depressed at Christmas because her son died before he was 1 and she never got to see him grow up and do all those kid things, so I do the tree every year. Yeah, she has to be dragged kicking and screaming into it, but once there, she's always glad it's been done.

I've never forgotten how that light turned everything around that year and how somebody's effort, not what they bought, made things better. Sentimental slob that I am, I've always seen the importance of effort. The Blonde was so surprised that I remembered the things she wanted.

It's nice to be the light. Any time of year.

On Outside Voices & Mirrors; Opposite of Thought & Oopsies

"The effect of the permission structure machine is to instill and maintain obedience to voices coming from outside yourself, regardless of the obvious gaps in logic and functioning that they create."

"Where this analysis went wrong is the same place that the Obama team’s analysis of Trump went wrong: The wizards of the permission structure machine had become captives of the machinery that they built. Bullying large numbers of people into faddish hyperconformity by controlling the machinery of social approval may require both money and technique, but it is not art or thought. In fact, it is something like the opposite of thought. Lost in the hypercharged mirror world that they had created, they decided that having made themselves cool also made them right, and that evidence to the contrary could be safely dismissed as a “right-wing talking point.” Obama’s operatives shared the same character flaw as their master, a kind of brittle, Ivy League know-it-all-ness that demanded that they always be the smartest person in the room."

Quotes above are from David Samuel's thought provoking article on Tablet entitled, "Rapid Onset Political Enlightenment: How Barack Obama Built an Omnipotent Thought Machine and How it Was Destroyed

On Long Faces & Noses

Plus there's this from today's Daily Mail: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14211289/Joe-Biden-health-Jill-exposed-MAUREEN-CALLAHAN.html  What was noted over and over here for the last four years in posts and cartoons, turns out to have been TRUE all along.   Imagine that!

Now that I've scared the Hell out of you

A little humor. I just had to.

I guess Doubleaughtwhatshisface is out of a job

You've been hearing about all the drones flying over Jersey (and that doesn't count the politicians) and all the panic about what's going on.

I'd seen references to these drones about a week ago, but this is a much fuller account and has some pictures.

OK, now we know what they look like. So what are they doing flying over Jersey (this is the fun part)? And, yes, Vagina, there is a connection to Brandon.

At the end of the Cold War, a lot of nucular warheads and missiles were dismantled, but about 80 from Ukraine turned up missing. Some were headed for the US.

So now the NRC reports a quantity of radioactive material has gone missing. The container arrived at its destination severely damaged and empty. Which brings us back to the drones and their capabilities. Now somebody has to find the stuff before Jerseyans start dropping over like they've got the plague. And they can't talk about it or the whole country goes Trumplican.

Sounds like the trailer for a movie. Solo and Kuryakin ride again.

This is speculation on my part, but what if Zelenskyy wanted a nuke to get Poot off his back once and for all and what if the dirt he has on Brandon goes a lot farther than his son, the bum?

This is what happens when you hire from the faculty lounge and let the bean counters winnow out the straight white guys. Remember Sam Brinton, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Spent Nuclear Fuel and Waste Disposition? How many containers were pilfered and nobody ever knew?

Consider the possibilities.

UPDATE

Repub Jersey mayor confirms drone - missing radioactive material connection is a real possibility.

Doubleaughtwhatshisface is a pansy

Oh, baby, if this holds up, the next month or so is gonna be so much fun.

OK, return with us now to those thriling days of yesteryear when Laura Loomer reported that Brandon had to be rushed back to DC because of an unknown medical emergency. The Demos trotted out the body doubles and told us here he is and look, he's fine.

Well, James O'Keefe has struck again. One of his minions contacted White House National Security Council advisor Henry Appel and got him to spill the beans. "Joe Biden is like dead. He like can’t say a sentence. He’s like really progressed in his old age. Everybody recognizes it”.

And then the kicker...

“He’ll be dead in a year".

Appel says that he and his colleagues are worried they may be criminally liable or investigated for something. "We're kind of concerned about them coming after us... like with Congress".

At the very least. And these people are supposed to be soooo smart.

As for O'Keefe, he's the real Man Called Intrepid.

On Struggle & Need

Two months after Helene hit North Carolina with heavy rains resulting in massive flood damage, the situation in the areas surrounding Ashville remains dire.  The people who live and work in that region are contending with a huge, close to unimaginable and unmanageable mess.  They're presently in need of help, intervention, and an infusion of the material and means to move forward with cleanup before rebuilding can take place.  The video above, showing drone footage of the damage yet to be dealt with, lays it out like this:

"There are 3 primary needs right now! First is building material for all the buildings and homes devastated by the hurricane. Next is big machinery, bulldozers, dump trucks, excavators to clean debris. Lastly money so we can see a need and fulfill that need.''

We've been able to connect through Samaritan's Purse, with other places to contribute listed with the video.  Even though it's likely more work can be accomplished through private sector contributions than  realized with government involvement, it appears as though this administration is intentionally looking away from some obvious and legitimate needs right here at home.

This is just Too, Too Cute

OK, if you're outraged by the Hunter pardon, I've got some very good news for you. As always the guy who flunked 3rd grade and finished in the bottom 9th of his law school class shows he hasn't lost his touch (actually, it's the people around him since he's either dead or in extended care for life and we all know he wouldn't have anybody around him smarter than he is/was).

This has been floating around the comment boards for a few days and it sums up the legal ins and outs pretty succinctly*. First, he was prohibited from holding public office in the US government because of his admission used upwards of $1 billion of US government loan guarantees in a bribery coercion scheme to threaten the Ukraine president to immediately terminate the Prosecutor General who was investigating the corrupt practices of Burisma Holdings. Second, of course Idiot bragged about on videotape. This is a violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Also a violation of the US Code.

So where's the joy? The pardon of his notorious crime partner and son is completely null and void coming out of the gate. And that doesn't even cover the now-revealed 18 million vote fix that stole the '20 election.

Even better, the Bum can be called to testify, but can't take the 5th. He is also open to civil suits which could bleed the family white**.

Something else that may eventually deepen the grave of the Democrat party and its most eager would be king. The people of Shasta County CA are challenging the count of their vote on Constitutional grounds. They say 1 out of 2 votes was tossed and that violates a SCOTUS decision which declared people not only have the right to cast a vote, but to have that vote counted accurately. How many Rs would take a seat in the House if this went Federal (and I think it will; just the sort of thing the new AG would love to see investigated, and tried)?

*Follow the links. They're lots of fun, too.

** By way of Team Jacobson.
