Someone has stretched their neck out to pick up the ball, Lem style, to set up another version of "Comment Home" (what this blog was sort of called before the name Lem's Levity was chosen) on Blogger with links to the daily Althouse posts and space for comments.

That is weird, especially since the domain "https://althousecomments.blogspot.com/" is still available as of this posting.

With a little diversity of posting/posters, this place could notch back up.

Yeah - it's time to change my handle. I'll work on that...

There should remain at least one space free of that disgusting commie filth that is Meadhouse. They are communists, they want us dead and I will call those flaming assholes out on that every time I encounter them.

They voted for Obama, Biden and every other anti-American candidate who ever ran for president. They are not on our side. Never forget who the enemy is - it starts with alcoholic law profs and spreads to their boy toys and sycophants. If pointing out the fact that communists are communists is ugly, well, I don't mind being ugly to them. They are lower than the shit you scrape off your shoe.

Speaking of that - hey NeedieMeadie - did your mommy ever let you get a dog? Or do you have to stay in your room until you can behave a little better?

They are the enemy - to deny that they would not kill us all given the chance is ridiculous - of course they prefer that their agents, the force of The State they worked for and support do the dirty work, but never doubt that Commie Annie thinks we right wing squatters and unworthy of life or dignity - her own words and works state as much. She is hideous and like most alcoholics, she hates normal Americans who have accomplished anything of value in their lives. I will never change my views of communists and their supporters. I have seen what they do and I don't like it.

Haha. Actually, I lied. I AM Irish...and Welsh and Polish German Scottish and Indian and African. But now that I'm in middle old age I'm turning Japanese. My ancestors were both slaves and masters. I pay reparations to myself.

We gave up alcohol 4 years ago because it's bad for your health and we're trying to be good for our health. So far so good. Not dead yet.

Who's Lem?

Perhaps you recall "Bake's Alley Lounge" in Fort Collins, CO. I used to be a regular (at night) back in the '80's. There was a day crew too but they were scary. No one knew who Bake was.

I just don't maintain that level of animus for anyone. It can't be healthy.

What level do you think is acceptable and fun, chicklet?

Whatever happened to deborah? I liked her. Did MamaM run her off?

Hmmmm...Was that a fun little love dart? Or a passive-aggressive zinger?

Do you honestly believe it is possible to run off a woman who survived an alcoholic dad and a stint in the military? If so, it appears you not only missed the clue bus, but also the dissonance revealed in the many games and versions presented.

In the long run, integrity matters.

Jordan Peterson's new book, "Beyond Rules" contains a clarifying chapter on Resentfulness, Deceit and Arrogance. Believe it or not, it was dear deborah, in one of her earlier versions here at Levity, who first introduced me to Peterson's work!

chickelit said...

What level do you think is acceptable and fun, chicklet?

Certainly not the level that Sixty expresses here. When you look at the responsive he gave to Meade, was it proportionate? Sixty sounds jilted.

As for deborah, every time she showed here, you and she (mostly you) would get into a fight. I like both you as commenters, and that always disappointed me.

Enough to aim snark at me?

SixtyGrit also sounds angry to me, perhaps inappropriately and insultingly so, but I guess it's a matter of what level of animus/Anniemuss is considered acceptable.

How does presenting a charming front while bullying and manipulating others (in particular those who are down on their luck or recovering from addiction) sit with you?

From my point of view, the bullying and game playing that went on here soon after Lem opened this blog, along with the lack of integrity displayed by people I previously held in high regard was deeply disappointing and angering.

Discerning trust involves trusting others to the point where they've shown themselves trustworthy; and maybe taking a little risk to trust more.

From my point of view, SixtyG is who he is, over and over. He's upfront and clear about where he stands, what forms his view, and what matters to him. Same with Trooper York, who is more focused on the upfront side of things and somewhat less clear. It's easier for me to process and consider what they present than it is to take in or dismiss the cheerful chirps and winks of those who seem intent on playing a different, less honest and more insidiously disingenuous game.

I've been consistent in that holding that view and approach since I started commenting at Althouse in 2009, Trooper York's in 2010, and Lem's Levity since 2013.

That you'd choose to see it differently is on you, chickelit, with the held awareness that you and a group of others were also fooled once before into believing I wasn't who I am.
And that went on for weeks, while the person you thought I was (but wasn't) stood by and went along with the game with playful, What-cheer-cheer-cheerful chirping remarks like "All my socks have holes". Yeah, that happened. Was it fun for everyone involved? No. Can I forgive and move on? Yes. Does doing so mean accepting without comment publicly shared stories and comment from others that reveal incongruity or don't match, fit or make sense with previous sharing? No. Thank goodness that freedom still exists.

It's all fun and games until somebody loses a weiner!

chickelit said...

You have that one wrong, MamaM. Blake was the one insisting you were someone else. I was a staunch defender of you because I believed you were yourself. Perhaps because I was otherwise closely allied with Blake and Darcy, you have forgotten my stance. We even communicated offline about this.

Jordan nod is always - Good advice.

His latest book is especially powerful and intriguing as it contains a forward describing his own journey through decline, suffering, breakdown, addiction and recovery following his first book tour, the advent of his wife's cancer, his drug use and his body's response to withdrawal. He comes through as clear, centered, intelligent, hopeful, honest and informed.

I came to it through a link (presented in the comments at Althouse) to a video of his interview of the illustrator. Jordan selected her through a contest presented on Twitter and she worked in collaboration with him, while also doing her own thing. The drawings, which look like pencil, but were done on a computer, are unusual and a good fit with the book.

I'm hoping to do a post on it soon, once the Ever Given Anniemuss gets pulled out of the muck to hang out in the Great Bitter Lake while cracks are assessed, blame is assigned and a place is found to offload the thousands of containers stacked on her deck.

Maybe I'm thought of as "the guy who wants everyone to move to Nevada from CA, but that would be wrong. Californians are the biggest problem here. They already ruined the place by electing a corrupt Democrat governor and legislature. It's still way better than California, but so is Somalia.

I was just reading old posts here from back at the beginning of Lem's. Hard to accept how long ago that was. You rejects are older than dirt now.

bagoh20 said...

One word: deplorables.

MamaM said...

Chickelit, I have not forgotten what happened. As I recall it took a few days for you to figure out where the bear shit in the buckwheat. I also remember and appreciate your willingness to believe me and stand alongside me. Trooper too, after I emailed verification to him. While I've forgiven the perpetrator and those who were confused, I no longer trust the person whom I was mistaken for, who didn't step in and went on to play a different game of dominance elsewhere.

As for ND's pronouncement of to deny you were on her like your mom would get on you is classic denial. What kind of fresh hell is that?

Are you still beating your wife, ND? Considering what you were subjected to after the other person you attempted to school me about eventually turned on you in a mean and vicious way, I'd think you'd have the wisdom to take a breath and reconsider what you think you know before bursting in with that clincher.

ampersand, if you're so inclined, the links you find and the images you produce yourself would make fine filler in between the enormous breasts and magnificent flar bushes posted at Levity.

While MrM burst out laughing I showed him the images you put together and created, I was slightly more circumspect in my response, somewhere between smiling broadly while also being slightly astonished by the skill, insight and the pointedness involved. Well done and on the mark. Using symbols that come through these days with more clarity than words.

Also if you're truly wondering about sock puppets, the information needed to find the answer is out there Just follow your nose, the same one that leads to material for photoshop.

Nice to rediscover this place after such a long time away. I remember checking here regularly after the original AA commenter silencing and started following a few other blogs, like Trooper York's for a while, but then career and schedule changes dramatically reduced my screen time. Very rarely did I comment at that other place, but truly enjoyed reading so many of those who were commenting regularly. Now revisiting here it's nice to see so many of the familiar profile names -- recent and from nearly eight years ago.

Working 60 hours a week. I don't know how to retire. It sounds nice, but I don't have that skill set. My company has downsized quite a bit. I think our political class is a nightmare. Pack o losers and tax payer funded grifters as far as the eye can see.

bagoh20 said...

Troop, I never said anything about Trump that wasn't true, and there were a lot of facts which should have led a conservative-minded person to be concerned about him as President, but I learned from history and facts, and that led me to quickly become one of his biggest supporters after seeing him perform in office. I now think he was the best President of my lifetime. That's how I do it. I follow the facts, history, and reason wherever they lead me, even if it requires a 180 turn, which was not needed with Trump. I'm never a cheerleader out of pure hope. I need a good reason to pretend I know best. You and edutcher had it right all along. I never disagreed about who to vote for in the end - I voted for him twice. I simply did the valuable work in the beginning of challenging assertions of knowing the unknown. That's how you make sure a guess and hope are reasonable.

bagoh20 said...

Hillary lost because the Dems didn't think they needed to cheat. They knew they needed to in 2020. They saw the Trump rallies, and they saw their guy peeing himself behind the podium in front of dozens.

In my PA hometown of 13,000 people they had a Trump rally in October (during a pandemic) with 50,000 excited Trumpers attending. The Dems saw that too. They knew what had to be done.

Amartel said...

There was good reason early on to be skeptical about Trump, from his past soundbites to his associations with the Swampy Clintons to the enthusiasms in the media (pre-nomination). It had the look of a vanity project. Troop and ed had great intuition about him but a lot of that looked like wishcasting. I believe Trump himself changed course when he realized how brutally cruel the left borg was going to be to him. That maybe put a new spin on things and helped the regular people to identify with him, and he with them. I voted for him enthusiastically in 2016 and 2020 and have no regrets.

Can Of Cheese for Hunter said...

I agree with Bagoh and Amartel completely. I'd only add that After Hillary lost, the media realized they had to become a total unapologetic arm to the democrat party.
