I've had this number on my iTunes playlists (along with many other Steeleye ballads) since back when I digitized their songs from my Original Masters vinyl album. Got the lyrics with the translation in there, too.
I reacted to the strong cockney accent with raised eyebrows the very first time I heard this song, but it's grown on me through the years, and I really enjoy playing it during the Christmas season.
Regarding the live performance, the singing was good for going on 35 years, but as a concert goer, I'd have been disappointed that the act I paid good money for couldn't bother to get dressed for the performance, or refrain from walking around with their booze and towels, nor could they get good lighting on the singers. Perhaps in context this was an encore, and they came back out in a state of 'relaxed attitude', but anyway, it didn't look like they were trying very hard.
