Taking back our country starts at one act of courage at a time.

A Texas hair salon owner refused to apologize to a grandstanding judge who imprisoned her for opening her salon so she could feed her children. From Brietbart:

Judge Eric Moyé presides over the 14th Civil District Court located in Dallas County. Dallas County issued an order to Luther requiring her to close her business after she opened in defiance of the stay at home Coronavirus lockdown.
Luther told the judge, “I have hairstylists that are going hungry because they’d rather feed their kids. So, sir, if you think the law is more important than kids getting fed then please go ahead with your decision but I am not going to shut the salon.”
Prior to her statement, Judge Moyé said she must see the errors of her ways and “understand that the society cannot function where one’s own belief in a concept of liberty permits you to flaunt your disdain for the rulings of duly elected officials.”
“That you owe an apology to the elected officials who you disrespected by flagrantly ignoring, and in one case defiling, their orders you now know obviously apply to you,” Moyé lectured. “That you understand that the proper way in which an ordered society to engage concerns that you might have had is to hire a lawyer and advocate for change an exception or an amendment to laws that you find offensive.”
Lucia reported that the judge ordered her jailed for seven days and fined $500 for every day the salon remains open. So far, the fine stands at $3,500.
These un-elected tyrants and power grasping pissant local officials are running roughshod over the Constitution. Not only are they taking away our constitutional rights in service of a bogus health crises but they demand that you kowtow and kiss their ass while they shit on you.
God bless this woman. I hope she will start a go fund me so I can contribute to it.

Even Fake News l;ikes her.

Next week, unemployment checks end. You'll see a lot more of this.

I would donate as well.

I saw pictures of this hearing. Four people in the courtroom, judge, reporter, bailiff and defendant. Should have demanded a jury.

Governor Abbott should immediately exhonorate her.

(J)umbo (B)utt SitzPritker in Illinois has released almost 4,000 prisoners, including 64 murderers and 146 sex offenders. We need to free jail space for the resistance.

Her Go Fund Me total is up to $319K.

Gov. Abbott is calling for her immediate release and the Atty Gen wrote a letter to the judge telling him he abused his discretion.

I'm betting she's the type who will distribute that cash, not pocket it herself.

Amartel said...

Whether she redistributes it or pockets it, I don't care. She earned that money - every penny - for bravely standing on principle, facing down the powers that be and not folding. THANK YOU SHELLEY LUTHER!!

All the virtuous ads and announcements thanking the first responders, the nurses and cops and other people deemed essential by our government, and never one thanking the people who have sacrificed their livelihoods. Not one. Only scolding and lectures and jokes and suggestions to be grateful for the opportunity to sit on our couches. It's like they don't like us very much.
Anyway, thanks to Shelley Luther for having the stones to say "fuck you" but nicely.

It is the "but nicely" part that always trips me up.

I did send the mayor a letter, and while that mook has not responded to me, others have heard from him. I guess I shouldn't have started the letter with "Hey asshole!" - I mean that is about as nice as I am going to get at this point.

I know. It's difficult. I got scars from biting my tongue all the time in court.
I can't even think those things until I get outside because something might just come out ... wrong, and I'm not in there for me, I'm there for the client so no adventures.

Judge is a Zippy fan.

A little line from The Robe.

When it comes, this is how it will start. Some obscure martyr in some forgotten province, then madness.

Deep State is scared. They think if they beat a few down, it will intimidate the country. One little lady, just wanting to feed her kids.

Forget Rambo. Shelley Luther is their worst nightmare.

California around me is full of smug little Hitlers who scold you or glower at you for not wearing masks. It's not going to be pretty for from them because they're not taking their masks off until someone orders them to do so.

Speaking of martyrs, remember how Don Cuomo begged America’s healthcare workers to travel to New York to fight the outbreak at the hardest hit part of the nation?

Cuomo announced Tuesday that healthcare workers who voluntarily traveled to New York to help with the Wu Hu Flu will have to pay state income taxes.

Legally, he's within his rights, but how many of those people, and their families, will ever trust a Democrat again?

I think we just found the new Stupid Party.

Amartel said...

Cuomo is a disastrous nitwit as are many of his leftist brethren and sistren. They've been shielded for so long by the media that they don't speak or act with any care about how they appear. They know their reign of error will not be featured on the news, they will not be questioned by the media, they will not be laughed at. They can lie, cheat, plunder and even kill and the media will run cover for them. They can have a double digit IQ and fall asleep right there on the TeeVee and no one will say a word.
But maybe, just maybe, people other than the usual skeptics are noticing.

chick, even in my deep blue corner of California people are talking back to the karens and telling them to mind their business and let us get back to our own. But, yes, point taken that we have more than our share of scolds. I was driving into work earlier this week and two of them were walking down the middle of the street and wouldn't move off the roadway to let me pass in my car. There's a movement to shut down some streets to vehicular traffic. Cars bad. There's a movement to cancel rent altogether. I'm living in dimwit socialist virtue-signaling unicorn heaven.
It's frustrating, but we're not alone. And the hogs at the trough at some point are going to become painfully aware of the diminishing tax revenue.

The Dude said...

Where I live it is legal to use one's vehicle to encourage protestors to get out of the road. Once that law was passed the whole road blocking movement went away.

Today I got yelled at by some Karen - no idea what she was saying as she was wearing a mask. I wasn't. And about half of the customers in the store weren't. We are getting fed up with the malarkey.

But the sad thing is that this woman thought it was okay to yell at some rando in a store. It's not. I wouldn't do it. Plus, she doesn't know who's carrying and who isn't. That's why I don't start in on strangers, you just never know who might be having a bad day and is looking to vent. Or ventilate.

It looks like she was let out of jail by the Texas Supreme Court. Her go fund me is over $300,000 right now and the Lt Governor paid her fine.

She should run for office. I bet she can get elected Senator or something.

@Amartel: I live on a UC campus. It doesn't get any bluer that that. Our neighbors had a BLM sign, followed by a Juan Castro 4 prez sign, followed by a Liz Warren sign. Did I say that they are a same sex couple? I coexist with the enemy!!

UC faculty are on lockdown until Herr Neusom says it's OK to work (like never). Meanwhile, UC funding (and especially retirements) just fell off a cliff). They will come begging. Hopefully, the CCP will NOT be allowed to fund UC pensions and operating funds, but, I predict that they will try.
