GOP leaders speak after House passes impeachment inquiry resolution

Wall-to-wall whinging isn't going to cut it.

If your hopes are on these men each with a "kick me" sign taped on their back defending our Constitution then we're doomed.

"It isn't a vote on impeachment, it's a vote on impeachment inquiry." Nancy Pelosi answers a journalist hustling down a hallway surrounded by men much taller and larger than herself. Pelosi is a slick old parliamentarian but she isn't that slick. Her legal team insisted she frame it this way. So she does.

Nadler is a slob who Trump already defeated several times and with a chip on his cow-shoulder the size of Manhattan.

Schiff is a corrupted nervous wreck that any sensible citizen would be embarrassed to have represent them.

* Schiff hired SDNY U.S. Attorney Daniel Goldman.
* Nadler hired criminal defense attorney Barry Berke and Obama Administration lawyer Norm Eisen.
* Nancy Pelosi hired Douglas Letter.

All Lawfare network lawyers.

Republicans adhere to the rules while worked up crackpot Democrats change the rules as needed and none of that matters to Democrat voters who get their surface information from corrupted media spoon-feeding them.

It doesn't matter to crackpots that the Mueller investigation collapsed to dust, it was always the process that mattered, that is parlayed to the next step, and it doesn't matter to crackpots that Schiff wholly misrepresents a Trump phone call with Ukrainian president and that whistleblowers are all partisan deep-state insiders, it's the process that matters, that is parlayed to the next step, and it won't matter that House impeachment is bogus, it's process that matters, it all parlays to the next step, and it makes no difference that majority is required in the Senate, they need only 2/3 present, and it is process that matters to be parlayed to the next step.

Worked up anti-Constitutional crackpots spell out for us their reworking of process to suit themselves as they march forward ineluctably following their obsession no matter how much of their layered plans collapse, no matter how bad they look doing it, no matter how much is exposed, no matter their losses, who falls along the way, no matter anything. Thus, the second American civil war has already started and we know exactly whom to go after; the men with their hands up the backsides of their pathetic tattered but mean-spirited congressional ugly cloth puppets. People whose souls have already departed.

The only witness to the actual conversation says nothing untoward took place. Not a good start.

The Senate shall have the sole power to try all impeachments. When sitting for that purpose, they shall be on oath or affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no person shall be convicted without the concurrence of two thirds of the members present.

Presumably, if the Demos pulled a Sumner-Brooks and somehow kept the Rs out of the chamber, they could get away with a conviction. I don't see it happening with the current leadership, but I also have a hard time making an impeachment stick under the Schiff For Brains resolution. Your average American may not know the Constitution, but they've all seen Perry Mason.

People on both sides talk about a civil war. We may yet see one.

I always wanted to fight in another war. This time, I don't want to go half way around the earth to do it. It would be convenient to eat breakfast at home, pack a lunch, go to war, and be back before dark for dinner.

AllenS - I am with you, however, that comment eerily echoes the sentiments that many Southerner had prior to the recent unpleasantness between the states.

In any case, keep your powder dry, brother, and lock and load.

Sixty, I have a shit load of friends around here, that will go with me. This won't be a Confederate operation, but an attempt to save to save the Republic. I know damn good and well that we will win.

There are many of us here who have studied history and are acutely aware of what it takes to prevail. The lessons of the past have not been lost on us. We had some great leaders then and we can take the best parts of how they operated and were victorious and put those parts and use them to our advantage, should the need arise.

Spineless feckless assholes, all because of a phone call that traitors think they can exploit. I fucking hate my government and what it's become and I hate those in it. Seriously. Those that fought and died didn't do it for this shit.
