Strange real estate

It's altogether a dreadful house. Take the tour. Slide show of photographs, the first photo is a video. IMO the place is horrible throughout but other people see the good side.

Bones are good. Some awful wallpaper and fabrics on the furniture. Change them and quite livable. I'd get rid of the pool.

Did you notice the ceilings in some of the regular rooms?

There's a 1971-1973 boat tail Buick Riviera under the carport.

I like the house but not the furnishings or contents thereof. House needs an exorcism.

Amartel is right. But, to repeat, the bones of the house are good. Checked ceilings. Only saw one wierd ceiling. Bathroom is very nice: a big window and lots of light.

Australian Cities Average House and Unit Prices January 2019
City Average House Price
Sydney, NSW $955,000
Melbourne, Vic $737,000
Brisbane, Qld $530,000
Adelaide, SA $465,000
Perth, WA $500,000
Hobart, Tas $450,000
Canberra, ACT $670,000

Even at .077 cents to the US dollar,Aussie prices are very high and the houses aren't all that big.

High ceilings, it looks well built for its time. It needs a lot of work. I would imagine fixing that place up would cost at least $300K (that is assuming no major problems).

Australian real estate prices have that Seattle/San Francisco price thing going (mean house prices in Seattle $750,000 and San Francisco $1,299,000), but without the corresponding big salaries to justify it long term. Australian real estate tends to be on a boom bust cycle. Sydney's mean house price was like San Francisco's a few years ago, but has declined to the number ampersand notes.

You might want to wait out till the next recession and buy then.

Having grown up in a house much like the one occupied by the Addams family that place looks okay to me.

All except one thing - I hate Empire furniture. Get that crap out of there and replace it with something, anything. Bah!
