The case arose out of Daniel’s failed lawsuit accusing Trump of defamation for suggesting that Daniels fabricated her claim that she was threatened by a man to leave Trump alone.Oh. So that's what it's all about.
The court threw out Daniels' lawsuit finding Trump's remarks were protected by 1st Amendment.
Legal Insurrection tells us it's important that Trump moved to dismiss and the court granted dismissal under the Texas Anti-SLAPP 9Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) Statue. Texas is where Daniels resided.
Legal Insurrection has a lot of interesting stuff about how the court chose Texas instead of California or New York, and how they determined the amount of Trump's legal fees.
It's actually kind of funny. In a sick way.
The amount was reduced. Trump's team asked for 389 thousand, but got 292 thousand, a reduction of 97 thousand because although some Texas courts doubled attorneys' fees to deter frivolous SLAPP litigation, the Court declines to impose significant additional sanctions here. She's already liable for substantial attorneys' fees and that's already a means to deter her from bringing SLAPP litigation in the future.
And then.
Moreover, Plaintiff is seeking to withdraw her other defamation claim. and the Plaintiff has not taken legal action against Defendant despite rhetorically hyperbolic statements he made against Plaintiff and her lawyer. Plaintiff is already being deterred from filing meritless defamation claims.
Frivolous
Hyperbolic
Meritless.
Is this great reading, or what?
Then Legal Insurrection adds two tweets by Avenatti saying Trump has to pay Stormy $1,500,000 in the NDA case so she actually wins $1,200.000
Legal Insurrection does not explain anything about Avenatti's remarks.

I saw something about her, after she'd left porn, and had gotten married and had a kid.
Shoulda stuck with that.
So Trump got his money back? Good for him. Stormy should be sent to the can for campaign violations. I have a suspicion that Hillary would gladly join her there.
