Don't really have a story, just some pictures

It snowed here today. First snow this winter. It could have been spread out over a couple of storms and that would have suited me just fine, but you get what you get:

My catalpa tree got snowed on:

My dog got snowed on:

I dug a path out to my shop, eventually:

Once there I worked on a red maple table top that I milled flat yesterday:

That slab is 28.5mm x 60cm x 99cm. I sawed that out of tree that grew in a county south of here, probably 15 years ago or more. Time to use it up.

where are you again? That is some serious snow. Looks like... well, what we usually get and are not getting right now. Which is ok. lots of driving this week.

Impressive snow and slab! Also the effort put in to clearing a path to the barn and securing a chuck of wood that size years ago and milling it now.

That snow looks wet and heavy, with more on the ground than we've accumulated with our recent flurries. So far, we've been receiving 1-2 inch accumulations that melt before the next drop occurs so the plow guy contracted to clear out the driveway when 3-4 or more inches arrive has yet to stir his stumps.

Lift that snow
Tote that maple
Get a little old
And you'll be under the table

You're doing fine, Sixty. Wish I could keep up with you.

It is a wet heavy snow, and as a matter of good faith, it came back this morning. We got close to 10" yesterday and today's snowfall is filling in my path. Come on heat wave!

Today's chores, after breakfast, mainly consist of more sanding. If the snow stops and I can shovel out the garage door on my shop then maybe I can do some sawing of the other table pieces parts. Joining and gluing will require temperatures above freezing, so that is right out for the near term. But sanding does not care about temperature. Only the person doing the sanding cares, and right now I am content to stay inside and keep my cat company.

It was questionable how much, if any, snow we were going to get. The Balsams protect us, but this time they let some sneak in. We didn't get much, but it was a mess. Lots of rain, then a very wet and heavy snow, followed by more rain. We ended up with several inches of slush that toppled trees and cut power all over the county. Our power just came back on a couple of hours ago. It went out just past midnight on Saturday night. Thank God for generators.

My son in Raleigh said they got a fair bit, and our in-laws in Charlotte said it wasn't bad there at all. Within our county it went from a few inches to over a foot, depending on your elevation mostly.

Glad you made it through snowmageddon, windbag. Sorry you lost power - so far ours has not even flickered, which is good, as everything here is powered by electricity.

I got some more sanding done today but it was cold out there. I wanted to do some sawing but I got distracted looking for something in the house and what do you know - it got dark and my work day was over. So it goes.
