The Shun bread knife that Sixty Grit found cuts like a samurai sword. Except serrated. Truly the most awesome knife that I've ever used. Shame for it to lose its magical quality. In reviews on Amazon there is a discussion about the company sharpening the knives for their customers. Then another reviewer said they stopped doing that. Then yet another reviewer said the company returned to its earlier policy of sharpening the knives for its customers.
Returning the knife is a problem. It cuts through whatever material it's wrapped in. ⟵ Joke.

I really like my new knife. You had mentioned in passing that it would be good for cutting meat. I tested that theory on this week's beef roast - it had been thawing for close to day in the refrigerator and I wanted to cut it into smaller pieces for the crock pot. I usually use scissors, but thought that the knife would do better. Boy howdy - I cut the entire roast into quarter inch thick slices and it cooked to perfection - best roast I have cooked this year.
And you are correct about the shipping materials - it said right on them "Do Not Reuse", as they would be shredded if you slid that blade back into that cardboard only misery would result.
Now I have to design and build a knife block. Must have knife block. Lie awake at night designing knife block. Must find proper wood for knife block...
My butcher sharpens knives gratis. But doesn't do serrated ones. Maybe he figures, why sharpen bread knives?
