Two days ago we had nice blue skies filled with puffy white clouds:
Well, as nice as that looks things can change:
The clouds built up and the sky got dark:
Stawm's a comin':
That last one is the one I wanted to post - that vertical streak was caused by a lightning strike - no, that's not the actual lightning, rather, it is the change in brightness recorded by the backplane sensor in my cell phone while I was taking a panorama shot of the sky. You might think "Good timing", rather it was hard not to get a picture of lighting in that storm. Now think about some wood chip and sawdust covered guy who doesn't have enough sense to come in out of the rain, standing in his back yard dodging lightning bolts. Yep, that's true dedication.
Tonight's musical interlude:
Glenn Gould has an odd vocal affect but what he says is brilliant and still rings true. Bonus points for identifying the host at 5:26.

Even the weather has us polarized in America. Every time I read one of your posts it's just wet and wetter. I cannot relate. No longer. We are absolutely parched out here and the entire state is poised to catch fire. There is a growing fire east of us called the "Holy Fire" which authorities are now saying is arson. The flames are not life-threatening here, but we are downwind of the smoke. And the weather forecasts no let up in the heat. The famous sea breeze is no more. Orange County feels like Florida. I'm told it will be this way at least until September.
That is one young AT.
I'll take "what are vowels" for 20, deb.
The whole Bay Area is a smoggy wasteland from these fires.
You are correct, deborah, and куриный человек makes a funny. In советская курица funny finds you.
We could use a good rain here.
Dog days are upon us.
That is Sirius business right there, ND.
Glenn Gould very interesting on Beethoven. Great insight by Gould about the constant struggle going on in an artist worth his salt between the "inventor" he is and the "museum curator" he is. Without one countering the other the work is either lifeless or pure unmediated sensation, which tires quickly. Pompous enough for ya?
Well done, ricpic - you have captured the essence of it. Do you hum while you play the piano, too?
I'll take consonance for 1000, chick ;)
That's interesting weather, SG. And somehow your wood chip covered self managed to take some nice looking shots of a southern sky, one I miss. And good for you, daring those lighting gods and tornado followers. I've dared'em here in AZ, but it's a dangerous vice which by the time you realize it went wrong... well, it's too late to change your mind.
I was awakened by lightning at 2:30 this morning. No heavy weather was forecast, yet here it is, a big ol' blob of thunderstorms on the radar that will move out of here by 8. Nice. I think I will stay inside until this one passes.
