I didn't watch the whole video because I became irritated with Fox early on. Danes are proud of their socialism. It works for them. They're self-satisfied with it. If you visit there you're likely to hear from your tour guide how great their social system is. How advanced. How splendid. How ideal.
Because political indoctrination should be part of every tour. Don't you think?
I meant to ask, "With such an impressive system that through state education places everyone just so, how did you end up being a tour guide? Pure luck?"
The answer would be that he hasn't ended up as tour guide. The position is steppingstone to something more serious. It's a temporary goof off thing.
This guy is actually from the National Defense Ministry. Defending their system.

Denmark has steep taxes and a large welfare system, but in many ways (private retirement savings, no minimum wage) is less "socialist" than the US. In overall economic freedom, the two countries rank fairly equally.
It's a well done rebuttal. In my view, Trish comes off looking silly and shallow, like News Barbie, compared to the Dane who isn't pimped up to appear as eye candy.
It's stupid to compare Denmark to Venezuela. Denmark has a very low ratio of state run businesses. By the loose definition of socialism, high taxes, big welfare, the US is also a socialist state. K12 Education in the US is expensively "free" and most institutions of higher learning are state colleges. Denmark should be compared to other European states, all of them just as "socialistic" as it is.
Venezuela should be compared to Latin American states. It ranks pretty low there too, but most of them are also fairly bad.
Denmark is full of Danes so of course it's going to do well. Even though, from what I just read in a book by a Norwegian - My Struggle by Karl Ove Knausgaard - the Danes do love a liquid lunch.
I read that Karl Ove book. I was so bored! There's apparently a whole series but one was all I could take. I finished it, though. I only kept reading because I'd been advised that it was a masterwork that I had to I read. I persisted and set goals for myself. I will read until he next eats breakfast. 2 hours later ... (and I'm a fast reader!) breakfast would occur. Finally. I would make bets with myself about whether breakfast would include the consumption of kippers, just to keep things interesting. I knew it would but maybe it would not. Anticipation! Anyway, I like Danes but I do not like their tedious modern literary tradition of examining every moment then documenting the results on a minute by minute basis. Cut to the chase, Karl Ove! Or cut off an arm. Like Beowulf did to Grendel's Mom. More action is needed.
The video is a complete waste of time. The Fox Babe is making a very sloppy argument about socialism. She knows she's going to get away with it because she's talking to a friendly audience onFox that is more likely to realize the downside of socialism. Then the Danish dude comes along and picks the low hanging fruit, some of which is so rotten with stupid that it's fallen on the ground. But he's talking to a friendly audience, too, who will ignore that he's talking past some of the ostensible points crudely made or just implied in the Fox segment. It's one of those "X totally destroys Y" videos that I hate because it's scripted and fake. It's not in the moment and nobody actually wins the argument because there's no actual argument. It's just a set piece. The blocky nerdy Danish dude is the hero. We like him. So patient and sensible! The FoxBabe is a dingbat who says silly easily disprovable things, especially when taken out of context! Sigh!!! Destroyed!!!!
It's as predictable as Karl Ove after the first 200 pages. Kippers!!!!!
Hey Amartel, I took volumes 1 and 5 of My Struggle out of the library. The great thing is that you can go straight from volume 1 to volume 5 -- no change!
The final line of Book V, "I carefully re-wrapped the kippers and placed them back in the refrigerator as I did not have the appetite or stamina to finish them. The End."
I know he's Norwegian. I'm mixing Scandis. It's a microaggression.
Also, isn't "My Struggle" kind of Hitlery? Is he "taking back" the phrase? But what's his struggle? It's not clear.
