Coincidentally, that's what the woman at the market said to Trooper when he tried to squeeze her melons.

Actually women come up to me all the time in the Supermarket to ask about picking out stuff. I am usually teaching the wife about it and it always seems to gather a crowd.

What is the advice you give on picking out coconuts?

I thought Roseann went easy on Jarrett. Those pock marks add a certain sump'n sump'n to her ugliness

Whoa, deborah, that's the sort of thing Troop says.

As for Roseanne, remember how the Lefties whine about the blacklist? The Lefties just blacklisted her.

During the first 20 years of the cold war, we blacklisted Commies for the same reason we blacklisted Nazis in WWII. The Lefties have been doing it to anybody who bucks them ever since the blacklist ended.

And next to giving women the vote, it was the dumbest thing we ever did.

I haven't seen the new Roseanne show, so I can't comment on how good it was, or if Disney was looking to can her even though it was good. But the Jarret thing was over the top, and I think we both know that. And I dislike Jarret.

On the other hand, what the hell. Lefties treat conservatives like a bunch of cavemen. I mean cavepersons.

It was a joke.

It is supposed to be over the top.

Lenny Bruce.

George Carlin.

Nah, it was Roseanne being a dick and kicking the hornet's nest. A reason I've always liked her.

It was a joke. A stupid joke given our PC world, but a joke. The trouble is a joke like that sets you up to lose your hit TV show.

D

deborah said...

Well, that's the thing. It was pure stupidity and short-sightedness on Roseanne's part. I guess the joke's on her.

edutcher said...

Joke or not, the point about what Lefties spew daily without comment makes this thing a case study in hypocrisy.

This is why I'd love to see some real anger aimed at Disney, and, no, it's not Walt, they just stole his name.

deborah said...

Wasn't Disney a Socialist or something?

William said...

I don't think she's racist, but she's got a self destructive steak a mile wide. She probably chose to make such a remark because that's the surest way to guarantee a flame out. That, or marrying Tom Arnold again. This was probably quicker and cheaper.

William said...

I wouldn't bet a whole lot on Kanye's constancy and support either.

Ed, this guy, a brilliant orator, an anti-Enlightenment intellectual, here makes the point that Socialism (read PC) is already a done deal in the West. Niceness and 'fairness' is already the status quo.

Here's the thing.

When Roseanne first got well know a couple of old time comedians were mocking her and saying she wasn't feminine enough to be a successful comic. She had the perfect rejoinder. She went up to them and said:

"Suck my dick."

She was fierce and didn't take prisoners. I mean she made a lot of money but she didn't set herself on fire like Richard Pryor or die a junkie like Belushi or kill herself like Robin Williams. Those are her peers. She had a couple of messy marriages and stuff but she did alright.

This rush to destroy her is because of the fact that she is a known Trump supporter. Or as much as one can be and still be in Hollywood.

Trooper York said...

The joke is on Disney. Their stock took a major hit.

The President of Disney is an ultra liberal who wants to run for President against Trump.

He was seething because of Roseanne's success. They announced that the show next year would not be Pro-Trump. Roseanne said don't listen to that crap I am going to do what I want.

He couldn't wait to fire her.

Trooper York said...

Now we are going to see if anyone has the balls to pick her up.

TV Networks do that all the time.

A shitty little show like Brooklyn Nine Nine just got canceled by FOX and was immediately picked up by NBC. Because it was a Lorne Michaels property. It is all nepotism and secret deals in Hollywood. Same as it ever was.

Trooper York said...

If she comes back she will have to deal with her co-stars. That lesbo Sarah Gilbert might not be able to come back. So they should write her out or recast. I don't know about the others but Roseanne can still do the show. Enough of the subsidiary characters will stay on to let the show continue.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Well said at 9:18, Trooper. Women are really not as funny as men, so a truly funny comedienne is rare. E.g. Joan Rivers and Phyllis Diller.

Barr may have been pulling a Trump...leveraging the negative reaction into a bigger deal...with whoever decides to pick her up, though she may be too radioactive now.

Would love to see Sarah Chalke come in as the new Becky again, but probably a big lib and to busy.

Truly funny comedians, male or female, are few and far between. Think about who really totally cracks you up. They're mostly only really funny for a couple of years, the sweet spot when their unexpected originality and energy are at their height. Then, if they play it right, they coast on good will because we all remember how they used to totally crack us up. Those first few years after the first big break are crucial because that's when their original genius is at its peak. After that it fades and gets coopted by lesser talents and watered down for mass consumption. This is where most comedians live, drafting off their betters. Roseanne was totally awesomely funny, a true original. She was fearless but that fearlessness and fuck you attitude has its downside. I never watched the recent comeback so I don't know if it was truly funny or just a curiosity/stroll down memory lane. Maybe she lost her mojo. It wouldn't be surprising. Robin Williams ran out of material after a couple of years. So did Eddie, Steve Martin, the SNL guys Chris Rock, Chapelle. The key is to find an alternative to stand up that isn't so exhausting. Joan Rivers did that over and over.

Amartel said...

Roseanne will be back in a few years. If she wants to be.
Hell, if crazy but talented Mel Gibson can come back the Roseanne certainly can.

deborah said...

True about running out of steam. Recent examples are Chappelle and Ron White. Both had perfect specials a few years ago. Their latest ones are pretty funny, but not sharp and down cold. Too much weed and too much Scotch.

William said...

It's not solely the racism. It's the combination of the racism and the support of Trump. Compare how Michael Richards was treated with the treatment of Roseanne. They're really piling on. All her coworkers. None of them are saying that that joke is not who she truly is. They're cancelling reruns if shows she did years ago. I haven't heard anyone mention the first amendment........Well, the torpedoes are in the water. This won't be the last stupid joke made by a comedian, and this is now the paradigm for how to handle offensive jokes.

deborah said...

PS Ellen is in the very funny woman camp, but with a gentle, non-mean humor...I know this is not universally acknowledged.

Amartel said...

Michael Richards was nowhere near the level of Roseanne. He was adjacent to greatness but was not at that level, and even so that controversy seemed to rage for a while. Scolders gotta scold, I guess.

Amartel said...

I always thought Ellen was kind of lame, but had a good natured authenticity that was great for exactly where she ended up (hosting celebs on daytime tv). Shiver. Yuk.
