Egrets, I've had a few...

...but then again, too few to mention.

That is actually a Great Blue Heron, which I saw while walking the dog yesterday. Couldn't get too close, and the lighting wasn't too good, but what a great bird.

I mowed my lawn this morning - first time this year. That's a lot of work for very little return. I mowed down violets and grape hyacinths like there was no tomorrow. Dodged the bumble bees, as they are my friends.

That picture is from last year as my azaleas have not bloomed yet.

Don't ever try to eat an egret, they taste worse than bald eagle.

I believe the appropriate response is, "Aaaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhh".

Still Here!

It's good to be out in the sun
And do a stupid chore or two;
Even to make a muscle ache
And know you're not undone.

A haiku to honor our resident poet:

Still here and working
Preparing for summer's heat
Bumblers be happy.

Drunken bumblebees
Bump heads - "Watchit!" - all day
But still git 'er done.

Damn. One syllable short in line two. Oh well.

No worries - replace "Bump" with "Bumpin'" and you are good to go.

Kurosawa Haiku

"Too many haiku!"
Basho shake head, walk away
Into mist. The End.

ToshirĂ´ Mifune
The last samurai standing
Snow falling on pines.

Note please, the "i" in ToshirĂ´ is not pronounced. Elision is one's friend in haiku.

Spring snows camouflage
Screening pines I will not shear.
Frozen bunny thaws.

Ricpic, I like:

"Bump heads - "Hey, watchit!" - all day."

Really captures it.
