Do you remember...
...Sippican? Fascinating guy, good writer, and he always linked to great videos, including one that I wanted to post here. I searched through his blog, which seems not to have been updated lately, trying to find it - it was an animated video of a factory that rocked to a beat. Great Vimeo video, but it seems to be lost to time. If anyone has a link to that video or even remembers the one I am talking about, let me know.

He was before my time, but I did visit his site once or twice after Lem's started up. And I remember a vid I'd like to find again...just looked for it. It's a music video, or maybe actual old family movies, with a really nice song. I'm pretty sure the vid was of Easter time...leaving for church all dressed up, springtime, etc.
His site was great - plenty of good stories, good videos, good music, tales from the great white north and so on. But mainly his writing - he is an awesome writer. I wonder what he is up to now.
Sure, Sippican Cottage right? Brilliant guy - got in a spat with the Professor over something he detested I think.
Sixty, yes, excellent writing with a cool, yet homey vibe.
Sippican Cottage did something that to this day I think was remarkable. He went through AA's archives and deleted every comment he ever made there. It was as if he never commented there at all, well, other than responses from other commenters about comments that were no longer visible. I emulated that, but he was much more thorough than I was, and I am in awe of his determination to erase his history there. Great man.
Lem's started up in 2013. Two years prior to that, in 2011, I ordered Sippican Cottage's book "The Devil's in the Cows" from Amazon, based on comments I'd previously read at Althouse and Trooper Yorks where those commenting here on this thread were also present.
It's my sense integrity mattered to the man. It's been my experience that those who value beauty and excellence, and have the patience to work with wood also seem to possess a fair amount of determination.
Thanks, MamaM - determination is a trait that many of us here have, you not the least. I hope things are going well for you and that spring is easing its way to your shores.
I'm hearing your hope, Sixty, while looking out the window at a world covered in white, with sleet/snow falling and constant flutter of activity at the bird-feeder . Five male cardinals are currently perched in the tree next to the feeder with a confused but hungry Eastern bluebird stopping by for suet by a minute ago. One thing for sure--one of these days the early daffodils that have been up for the past three weeks with their buds waiting will one day bloom even if I have to keep picking them and bringing them in to open in the warmth of the house. So far, I've had two bunches grace the table with a yellow joy that has yet to be realized outdoors.
As for moving, the truck is coming next week for the first load of boxes, bookcases and all the extra stuff we don't need here as we get this house ready for sale, with the final move set for the end of May. And yes, that too is a requiring a determination and a pressing forward on par with turning something old into something new, and entering into new life after winter.
