Did Hot Air remove their Facebook comment app? Since upgrading to Sierra High I'm not seeing comments and I tried on 3 browsers.

I started watching the "Lost" episodes of The Honeymooners, but stopped. Norton was much more entertaining, to me, anyway, than Ralph. Ralph was just too over-the-top and angry all the time, and who needs that?

So I watched the 1961 season of I've Got a Secret, and now I am part way through the 1955 season of What's My Line. Less drama, unless you read what happened to the participants in real life. Take Garry Moore, for example - he smokes constantly - walks on stage burning a lung stabber, waves his cigarette around while talking to his guests, and what do you know - his career ended due to throat cancer and he died of emphysema.

At least the humor is a lot gentler and less barbed than Jackie Gleason. Times sure have changed...

Jackie Gleason was the typical angry working class Irish guy.

My father in law was that guy.

Shit I am that guy.

GET OFF OF MY LAWN!

The Good Old Days really were.

Really.

And I feel sorry for anybody that missed them.

Ralph wasn't angry, he was frustrated. Probably dropped out of school in the Depression, had to if his family was going to eat. Drafted into WWII where learned to drive big vehicles, which was the way he made his living.

But he wants the best for Alice and he just can't stay away from the one shot he's sure is out there for him because that's the only shot he's got. Not a bad guy, just frustrated.

PS Bet that's one of the old live shows from Dumont. I remember them.

Just barely.

I watched the Honeymooners live, I was a wee sprat, but I remember that show.

Don't get me wrong about Jackie Gleason - I like a lot of his work, I could watch The Hustler every year and not get tired of it. I liked the variety show he did from Miami, but The Honeymooners just doesn't work for me. You might say that's because my honeymoon is over.
