Debbie, I use CCleaner too. Sometimes I have to run it every other day! Does that mean something is seriously wrong with my computer? Not really asking but it does drive me crazy at times that I have to clean it up so often.

Ricpic, I get pretty frequent reminders for updates, but I don't have to run the cleaner or update it for my computer to run fast. I run it for months without cleaning it. If yours is running slow because bogged down with spyware you don't know about, maybe you need something stronger? I run Avast to guard against virusesl I used to run the free Avast, which is good, but I got the paid version so I could have the added security of VPN.

I run Spybot, Malwarebytes and CCleaner once a week. CCleaner was hacked a few months back, they quickly fixed it with a new update.
Malwarebytes is good to have when you do get hacked.

I used to run Spybot. They have a free problem solving site..Safer-Networking Forums. You run a set of tests yourself and then post results on the site. They take you in order and walk you through some solutions. It can be complicated, so it's probably easier to spend a little money and take it to a computer repair place. They can do stuff quickly, and you don't run the risk of making things worse.

I have MalwareBytes. But like vitamins, I don't use it as I could.

PS, this is pretty well known, but never install two anti-virus programs on the same computer. They will fight each other and the computer will continually crash. But you can install more than one malware detector/cleaner, adware blocker, etc.
