I was just sent this link and the playing is so good I have to share it. The sound of fat back drums that begins at 0:39 is unreal.
King Curtis died so long ago that Duane Allman played at his funeral - he died way too young. What a gifted tenor player.
A Delta sunrise, not taken by me.

As late as 2013, Duane Allman was ranked #2 (behind Hendrix) as the greatest guitarist. Since then, he has slipped several notches. It's not like significantly better talent has come along. His life was just cut way too short. Plus, people associate him with "Southern rock" and assume he was somehow racist and best forgotten. Such people don't know the first thing about Duane Allman. They are simply forgetting this.
Today has the shortest day light hours of the year. Do not despair, tomorrows day light hours will be 1 second longer, and Hillary still isn't POTUS.
Aha! Now I know where Ronnie Milsap got his Country Cookin recipe. He didn't forget the fatback drums (well he almost did) but you have to wait for it.
"I didn't see you sittin' back there in the dark." Ha, good one, Ronnie.
Right on, Allen.
I like your avi, chick.
Too quiet? Astrologers are advising against doing ANYTHING today. Why? Because Saturn is lined up with Capricorn! Reason enough for me.
What Capricorn is I do not know. So what. Don't mess with those conehead guys I always say.
"Astrologers are advising against doing ANYTHING today."
On the day I have permission I have a million things to do. Better get started.
I'm baaaaaack! MammaM kindly reached out to me to ask me to do more than just lurk. I'm looking forward to being back with the gang.
I don't have much to say right now..... other than....I'm a Capricorn....don't mess with us!
And here is the sunrise over the river below our house. From several years ago. It isn't snowy at this moment, but damned cold!
Just because I don't have much to say right now....won't stop me from blabbing on eventually. Be warned.
:-D
So glad, DBQ :)
Great picture, DBQ, and it's good to see you back here.
Thanks guys.
Sixty...I think about you every time I drive by the stump of our dead pie cherry tree.
This spring we are planting a replacement Montmorency cherry tree to also serve as a cross pollinator for our new Black Tartans.
I don't care what the astrology charts say....I'ma baking pies today. Maybe in a few years I can bake a cherry pie.
DBQ, do you have to put nets over your cherry trees?
Welcome aboard!
DBQ, "I wish they all could be California girls."
Good to see DBQ in the comments again!
