"The Times ‘exposé’ on Donald Trump Jr. is a big yawn"

via Instapundit: The news was delivered by the New York Times in the breathless tones that might announce a cure for cancer or the discovery of life on Mars:

“President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton before agreeing to meet with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign, according to three advisers to the White House briefed on the meeting and two others with knowledge of it.”

To which a rational response is … who wouldn’t? And also: so, what? A third response is unprintable.

Just as the “Russian collusion” fantasy – a resentful smear cooked up in the immediate aftermath of Hillary Clinton’s stunning defeat last fall – was finally fading from the fever swamps of the “resistance” and its media mouthpieces, along comes the Times with a pair of journalistic nothingburgers.

They first reported that Donald Trump, Jr., along with Paul Manafort (then the campaign manager) and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, met with Natalia Veselnitskaya, Russian lawyer “linked to” the Kremlin, back in June, shortly after Trump had clinched the Republican nomination. The second claimed she’d promised dirt on Clinton and the Democrats in order to entice Donald Jr. and the others.

I don't generally trust Democrats and don't think their followers are all that bright. I just never realized (save a few exceptional ones like Sheila Jackson Lee), just how amazingly stupid Democrat politicians and their chosen advisors really are.

I say that, because I do think they honestly (their word even, not mine) believe we are foolish enough to buy this a Russian narrative. They think Romney was throwing rhetorical red meat out during the 2012 debates, and that if they throw out similar red meat, we will eat it up and turn on Trump.

We know Putin is dangerous. We've seen what he has done in Georgia and Crimea. I don't hate Russians because of Putin. I just don't trust that their political objectives and motivations are the same as mine. And I respect that the have the means to reach their goals. What I want is an American politician that knows this and acts accordingly. Trump is doing what I want, which includes meeting with Putin, facing him, and letting Russia know we also have the means to accomplish our goals and objectives.

On areas were we have agreement, I expect collusion.

Only you Ed. She was the one I always knew was an idiot.

Obama is not an idiot. On the contrary, he's a dangerously clever individual. You can call him incompetent, but I attribute his actions to malice.
