The reason for this whole CNN kerfulle is that they are elitist assholes who know nothing about anything a normal American knows.
The whole reason why the mincing mo's of CNN lost their minds over Trump's gif is that they do not know anything about stuff regular Americans know.
They don't know anything about professional wrestling. About sports. About carbs. About the flag. About the right to life. About Christianity. About patriotism. They are too busy eating tofu and debating how to destroy the white working class to promote minorities and illegal aliens. Drinking micro brews instead of Bud or Miller or Reingold. Vegan instead of Barbecue. Transgender instead of transmissions. They don't know us.
They hate us. They fear us. They despise us. We need to return the favor. In spades. (That's a metaphor Lem I am not talking about Black people).
Every normal kid goes through a phase where he enjoys Pro wrestling. Comic books. Nowaday's video games. It is almost a rite of passage. When I was a kid coming up Wrestling was still in its infancy. It had a brief heyday in the 1940's and 1950's on TV with guys like Gorgeous George. But in the early sixties it was in decline. Most of the wrestling were controlled by two guys. One of them was Vince McMahon's father. He ran the East Coast racket. Wrestling was not on regular TV. The only way you could watch it was on UHF on channel 47 which was a Spanish Channel. The only show in English was Wrestling which was always big with the beaners. The Champion was the Living Legend Bruno Sammartino. They would have periodic shows in the Garden. Other big names were guys like Killer Kowalski. Classy Freddie Blassie. Managers like the Grand Wizard of Wrestling. Captain Lou Albano.
Late in the sixties and in the early seventies the Son Vince McMahon took over. He promoted new guys. Chief Jay Strongbow. Gorilla Monsoon. Haystacks Calhoun. He took advantage of demographics and dropped the guinea champion in Bruno and went with the Puerto Rican Pedro Morales. They had more and more shows in bigger arenas. Still only on Channel 47 on Luche Libre Professionale! It was getting more and more professional. They set up roles. Pretty boys. Heels. Guys like the Iron Sheik and Ivan Putski were villains. Andre the Giant made his massive presence known.
Then it exploded. Mainly because of the movie Rocky. Well Rocky II.
In Rocky there was a sequence where Rocky fought "Thunderlips" who was played by real life wrestler Hulk Hogan. This introduced the game to a whole new audience. Vince McMahon is a genius level promoter and rode that into Wrestlemania I which featured Hulk Hogan and Mr T from Rocky II and the A-Team who was a big star at the time. He eventually got mainstream people like Cindy Lauper involved. People like Cindy and Madonna used wrestlers like Captain Lou Albano in their videos. The had a big NBC show every week. The money was pouring in. New stars who were roided out freaks were born every week. A rival organization sprang up. It became a multi-million dollar business. So much so that McMahon tried to start his own football league.
Donald Trump got invovled when he played a role in a gag where he was fighting Vince McMahon. That is where the video came from. Most normal people who are in the least bit aware of pop culture know this. Not George Will or Jonah Goldberg or Chris Cuomo or Anderson Gets it in the Pooper or any of the other news mo's on the left or right. So they had to make a big deal out of it. Because they are just morons.
Most normal kids grow out of wrestling. Just like you grow out of jerking off. Hopefully you discover girls and drinking and drugs and find better things to do with you time. But every once in a while you might be spinning the dial and come across a wrestling show and watch for a few minutes for nostalgia purposes. It is really gaudy and over the top. Not as simple as back in the 1970's. But it is kinda funny and enjoyable for it is. Something that the assholes and pansies at CNN don't know anything about.
I do expect that we will see a CNN Newscaster as a villain in a WWE show soon. I hope they hit him over the head with a chair.
But then I hope that we will do that to everyone from CNN.

My dad was a fan of TV "wrassling" as he called it. Back in the '80's. He would have loved Trump and what he's doing to Warshington.
2nd Commandment
(I noticed your Rheingold reference :)
Wrassler's bodies are very un-gay -- that's part of the problem for the nouveau urbane. Often unshaved and "bulky" is not a plus in Titusworld.
There is a lot of gay stuff in wrestling. But it is just part of the mix.
Right now they have a fiction series about Womens Wrestling called GLOW.
That was bogus offshoot that really never made it but was sort of funny.
We're Flyover Country to them. We're too stupid to get it.
Even if it's South Philly or Queens.
Remember when Lurch was running in '04 and somebody was dumb enough to take him to Pat's steaks and he did the lifted pinky bit?
Probably killed it right then.
...and they don't understand this song.
PS Just to illustrate graphically what Troop is saying, Trump is going to donate his first quarter salary (we're talking 80 Gs here) to the restoration of the battlefield Antietam.
How many Democrats would do anything like that? How many CNN slugs?
(just finished watching "The Proud Rebel", which has one of those Makes-You-Proud-To-Be-An-American endings, and I'm really on a roll here)
I watched a couple of epis of GLOW - it was not good. Mercifully I now have wifi and have started watching Justified on Prime TV. Much more in keeping with ne and my people, other than the fact that IT WAS FILMED IN CALI-FREAKIN-FORNIA!!!

Yes, it's still amazing how no one but you noticed that.
One object in the Museum at Antietam battle field that never failed to amaze me was a tree that had been cut down by rifle fire. Imagine an oak tree, over a foot in diameter, being shot with enough MiniƩ balls to actually cause it to be cut down. Every one of those shots was fired by a single shot muzzle loader.
Now imagine the creek running red with blood. That happened there, too. Or, perhaps, put yourself in the place of one of the 450 troops under Brig. Gen. Robert Toombs fighting against 14,000 goddamned Y*nkees, and holding your own at Burnside's bridge.
Yeah, I have stood there and imagined that. I still hate Y*nkees.
Wendy Crowe of "Justified" may just be Sixty's sort of redhead. She was featured in Whose That Girl?
CL - while I haven't spent a lot of time in Kentucky, I did live for close to a decade in California and I know what the mountains and trees look like there. There are no eucalyptus trees in ol' Kaintuck and nary a pepper tree, yet every broken down trailer or shanty they visit in Justified, from about episode 6 or 7 on, has just those trees. And live oaks. And The 5. Sorry, we all have visual cues that make it impossible for us to suspend disbelief, and for me it is trees and landscapes.
Did you ever see Rumble in the Bronx with Jackie Chan - great snow covered peaks in the background. Just like in Vancouver, BC, where it was actually filmed. Sorry Jackie, that was not even close.
Alicia Witt was in Twin Peaks, too, and did her own piano playing - that girl can certainly play well. I am in awe of her talent. Singular. Shut up.
If you get Wi-Fi I would recommend getting Hulu if you are getting a streaming service.
Or just use Amazon Prime streaming.
I was watching one of my favorite Westerns of all time the other day. "The Long Riders." The story of the James Gang directed by the great Walter Hill.
The most interesting part is that the gang was played by brothers. Just like the original gang. James and Stacy Keach as Frank and Jesse. The Carradines as the Youngers. Even Randy and Dennis Quaid as the Millers. Great movie. The knife fight is epic.
That was made in Missouri on Location. Good stuff.
Wait until you get to Margo Martindale season. That was the best season of Justified by far.
The great Sam Elliott shows up in the final season.
Raylan is a bad ass.
Elmore Leonard is a genius of the genre.
One of the best Modern Day Westerns that I have seen.
I especially enjoy seeing vets of Deadwood in supporting roles. Pretty cool.
That's a fantastic clip. Because it shows how real true native Americans actually dress and actually dance when they fight, fly like an Indian butterfly, sting like an Indian bee. He was going to scalp that Arab guy, I could tell. Because Arab head fur is extremely valuable. And Arab wrestlers really do pray on a tiny rug in the ring with their butts held up in the air. That's the Indian guys chance to knock him right in the stink bucket. POW Down for the count writhing in pain.
I cancelled Hulu yesterday. They ask why. I wrote, Because your commercials in front of everything piss me right off. I'm cross before I even start watching. And the first one is your own commercial. Annoying me like that is unacceptable.
It's too close to unfulfilled promise of cable and the hot steaming mess of OTA broadcasting.
I want to see shows about ancient Egypt. And nobody has anything decent. Except for that one thing. The one good possibility on Amazon is ruined by the nonsense no royalty costing bongo track twice as loud as the voice track. TWICE as loud all the way through. What sound technician can make such a serious error as that? You cannot hear a word from the experts in the entire ten or so videos. So the the whole thing is run on mute. And the rest of the videos are ancient aliens, cartoons, and complete nonsense. With nothing at all about hieroglyphics. Wouldn't that be great? But there isn't any such thing.
Must I make them myself?
No. Because no one would watch them.
Just think of that. Thousands of years of history in a nicely contained category, and thousands of videos available and nearly zero overlap between the two. How does that even happen? The museum attendance for these special exhibitions indicate a strong interest.
I was just tired of paying for something I don't use. Even at minimal cost. So far I inevitably return to Netflix. Because they don't have commercials.
So I watched BatKid for the fourth time and was spiritually uplifted again.
I had a great confab with the haircut guy today. Never saw him before. A little guy. He's surprisingly perceptive. He understood everything that I said and extended it appropriately. And that takes great conversational skill that you don't usually encounter. He's skillful besides, doing so much with so little. That's art, right there. Now my head feels like a hedgehog.
You can play with it if you like. brrrrrrrt brrrrrrrt brrrrrrt, But wash your filthy hands first.

Possibly a few Sharps (.45) or Colt (.56 (like the Spencer) or even .64) rifles in there, but the Springfield '55 rifle took a .58 slug, while the Enfield '53 took a .577 round (imagine catching one of those and you know why there were so many amputations).
No surprise at all the tree was cut to pieces.
No surprise at all the tree was cut to pieces.
Especially since they were targeted. Weren't there men behind them, using them as cover?
What are the soil Pb levels like in and around Devil's Den?
There is thing they call the "Stick" that they sell on Amazon that supposedly lets you get all streaming services and cable if it is programed right and you don't have to pay for it.
I am investigating it.
It has something to do with Direct TV. You are supposed to pay for it but there is a way to hack it or something.

Not sure, but I think it's just for broadcast TV
If wrong, I will happily stand corrected.
Now the Antietam battlefield is more like the forests Argonne.
Hey, somebody had to say it.
The combination of Prime TV and Netflix is way more television than I need or can watch.
In a Justified epi I watched yesterday Swearengen's sidekick Dan showed up and took hostages in the US Marshall's office. He was also in a Longmire episode I recently watched. He has found steady work, that's for sure.
And of course Seth Bullock himself is Justified.
Jim Beaver plays a big part later in the series.
He played Ellsworth on Deadwood.
